The Day the World Shook to its Core

Sunday, December 26, will forever be remembered as the day that the worst tragedy in our generation struck without warning, out of the clear blue sky. The world shook to its core, leaving 120,000 confirmed dead (as of this writing) and still rising. Six billion people had a front row seat as the gut-wrenching images of a tragedy of Biblical proportions flashed around the globe. In just minutes, a 30-foot wall of water, racing across the Indian Ocean at 500 miles per hour, smashed into two continents and twelve countries.

The magnitude of the disaster is a nine on the Richter scale of tragedies. While the sadness is unbearable and the tragedy is overwhelming, we've also experienced an unprecedented explosion of goodness. The outpouring of goodness and selflessness was titanic; surely G-d must have been smiling. In a moment of truth, it became evident that unlike the Biblical era of the Flood, the world today is essentially righteous, with goodness at its core. The universal rallying to help the survivors, and the placing aside of petty divisions, will go down in history as one of the most heartwarming moments, when our generation sparkled and shone brilliantly.

No less astounding were the survivors' tales and their stories of open miracles and wonders. The prayer on Rosh Hashanah, "who shall live and who shall die," took on a whole new meaning for millions of people. Listening to the survivors' tales, it is crystal clear that there are no coincidences; there but for the Grace of G-d go I.

Yet, for 120,000 people there was no miracle. Can a Jew make peace with such a tragedy? G-d shook the world to the core and we, too, are shaken to the core.

We have complete faith that everything that happens, down to tiniest most exquisite detail, is by Divine providence. As we advance in our knowledge and understanding of the world, it only confirms our gut feeling that there is a G-d who runs the world. With each passing day, we see even clearer the deep inherent unity and harmony in all of creation. Each and every one of us is made up of billions of atoms and all of them miraculously work together in perfect harmony.

When it comes to what we don't know and don't understand, we are billionaires. The human mind is inherently limited and so impoverished, that we cannot possibly see the bigger picture. We are like the Aborigine who steps foot for the first time into a hospital and is shocked by what he witnesses: ten men and women dressed in white strapping down a poor helpless victim, whom they then proceed to mercilessly cut open with knives. His logical conclusion would be that they are a bunch of heartless, cold-blooded murderers. The analogy is not accurate only in that the distance between us and G-d is a billion times - no, infinite times - greater than the difference between the Aborigine and those doctors.

Yet, despite our faith in G-d, or rather, because of our faith in G-d, when a Jew is confronted with tragedy, he is shaken to the core. Jews believe in a perfect world and in a perfect world there could be no tragedies. The Torah teaches us that when G-d created the world, it was literally a paradise, a Garden of Eden. Even today, the world at its core is inherently a Garden of Eden. At Mt. Sinai, for a brief few days, we experienced the world once again the Garden of Eden. Ever since, that vision of wholeness is hard-wired into every Jew. Consequently, we can't make peace with the status quo.

The truth be told, this belief in wholeness is hard-wired into every human being. Job (19:26), states: "From my flesh, I know G-d." We see that when it comes to our physical health, we refuse to compromise even on our toenail. The logical position would be to make peace with a little illness, since nobody is perfect. All the doctors we know are doing well and there seems to be a never-ending supply of patients who suffer from the many ailments that plague and afflict us all. Yet, the human position, universally, is to fight illness. People will gladly bankrupt themselves and undergo the most painful procedure in order to regain their health. They will not compromise and not settle for anything less than optimal health. Why?

Because deep down, we know G-d with every fiber of our being and every bone in our body; we experientially and intimately know, in our guts, in our kishkes, perfection and wholeness. Consequently, we refuse to compromise on our health, despite all the logical arguments and all the evidence to the contrary.

For the same reason, a Jew cannot make peace with tragedy. It shakes us to the core. When G-d told Avraham that He was going to wipe out Sodom and Gomorrah, Avraham wrestled with G-d. When G-d told Moshe that he was going to wipe out the Jewish people, Moshe gave G-d an ultimatum! When a Jew is confronted by tragedy, he's commanded to not surrender and accept it fatalistically, rather to pray and to storm heaven in order to nullify the terrible decree. Because in a perfect world that is wholesome, goodness, like health, is absolutely and consistently good. Not only are the ends good, but the means should also be obviously good.

If a Jew needed another reminder that the status quo is unbearable and that we desperately need Moshiach now, then this epic tragedy will hopefully be the last one. The picture as we see it is crooked, lopsided and upside down.

Moshiach isn't a pleasant wish, a sweet dream or a comforting illusion, but an urgent necessity. The Jerusalem Talmud (Tractate Yoma 5A) states: "A generation that hasn't witnessed the rebuilding of the Temple, it's as if the Temple has been destroyed in their generation." The Babylonian Talmud (Tractate Sotah 49A) phrases it differently: "There isn't a day in exile that isn't worse than its predecessor." In other words, the status quo is intolerable and unbearable; the ongoing exile is a daily assault, a brand new insult and a fresh destruction.

Every day that the breakthrough of Moshiach doesn't materialize, we discover a deeper, darker stratum of the Exile. Whenever we think that we've seen it all, along comes a tragedy that breaks even the most jaded of hearts. One hundred and twenty thousand people and counting are swept away in minutes to their sudden deaths. The exile becomes ever more painful and ever more intolerable with each passing day.
By Fear they cry for their mere man king

A Jew must take personal responsibility for everything that happens in the world.

Because the Whore is responsible for all who are slain upon the earth

Rv:18:24: And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

As the verse (Ecclesiasties 3:11) states: "The world he placed in their heart." We are a microcosm and whatever happens externally in the macrocosm is merely a reflection of what's happening internally in the microcosm. Any change for the better, the slightest shift in our hearts and minds and in our personal life, directly impacts the entire universe.

This is codified in Jewish Law (Maimonides, "Laws of Teshuvah" 3:4): "One should always view the good and evil in himself and in the world as being in perfect balance. Should he perform a single mitzvah, he will tip the scale and bring deliverance and redemption to himself and to the entire world."

Lk:2:38: And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

Lk:21:28: And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Rom:3:24: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Rom:8:23: And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

1Cor:1:30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Eph:1:7: In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Eph:1:14: Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Eph:4:30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Col:1:14: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Heb:9:12: Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Heb:9:15: And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

While we pray to G-d to send a complete recovery to the injured, let us create a positive, an inner spiritual tsunami-earthquake in our own hearts. Let us shake ourselves to the very core and awaken from our inner complacency.

Let millions of Jews from around the world gather in shul this Shabbos for a soul-stirring experience that will devastate and lay waste to all that's negative and unwholesome in our lives. Let us bring our lives into focus, which will instantly revolutionize human consciousness and bring the whole world once again into sharp focus. Let us unite and be ready to receive the greatest blessing of all, and the end to all human tragedies, the coming of Moshiach now!

Human Hand behind earthquake and Tsunami? It is time for Indian Navy to investigate!

Was this an earthquake creation experiment that ran out of control? Many countries are working on methods of creating massive earthquakes as means to defeat the enemy. The technologically advanced countries are working on this project.

If an earthquake and Tsunami can be created artificially and directed to a specific enemy, it can literally create havoc to the enemy. Weather control, controlling tectonic plate movements, electromagnetic wave simulated weaponry are all on the table of many countries.
The planetary alignment can cause many earthquakes all around the world of magnitude the modern mankind has never seen before.

Many all around the world are puzzled with the fact that Tsunamis never happen in South Asia. Also is perplexing is the fact that Tsunamis traveled 1000 miles at a speed of 500 miles an hour and smashed the coastal lines of South and South east Asia where Tsunamis do not happen.

There are technologies on the research table that is used to create electromagnetic effects to release the gravitational effects which can cause this kind massive earth movements.

Another astonishing feature of this earthquake and Tsunami is the amount by which the Kar Nicobar Islands have displaced. The level of devastation simulates 10 or higher Richter scale earthquake.

Was this a show down by a country to show the region what havoc can be created?

We do not have the answers to this. We know many courtiers including India are working on anti-gravity lifters and devices.

No matter what, it can be an experiment that went out of control. If it is not, that is the best news.

But given the level of devastation and given the fact India is a regional power in South Asia, Indian Navy has the obligation to investigate and tell the world what they found.

Moshiach "Revealed" that false Christ the son of perdition

The Scenario, According to a Young Jewish Boy

* Presently, Moshiach is in the Me'aras HaMachpela (the cave of Machpela in Chevron (Hebron) – the burial place of Adam and Eve and the Patriarchs and Matriarchs). He is in place, waiting for Hashem (G-d) to instruct him to reveal himself.

Rv:13:2: And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Rv:13:4: And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Achdus – Jews will cease to be individuals. While remaining in separate bodies, all Jews will feel as one with each other and with "all Jews who will ever be born and who were already born and who are alive now." * This will take place on Tuesday in the month of Sivan (Shavuos 5765/June 2005)

Demon spirits will infect all who deny Jesus the CHRIST

* In the first few days of the month of Menachem Av 5765 (August 2005), Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses), Rachel, and the Patriarchs and Matriarchs who are buried in Chevron will be resurrected. This will be reported in the newspapers around the world.

The A-el-ians are landed, the nephilim return

* A vast game of "musical chairs" will begin, "to decide who has to die before Moshiach comes and who doesn't." In both cases: "Hashem is just going to take them. Their neshomas (souls) are slowly going to rise to shomayim (Heaven) and their bodies will stay here without their neshomas." "They are going to hold their neshomas in their hands." The neshoma will then "split" into two of the same neshomas, one of which will stay above, the other will return to the body. "They will be living on haaretz and in shomayim." The difference is that those who have to die will be "niftar" (deceased) before their neshoma returns, whereas the bodies of the others will be alive the whole time.

* Beginning in Elul 5765 (September 2005) through the end of Tishrei 5766 (October 2005) there are going to be simultaneous earthquakes ("Everyday, everywhere") that shake the entire world, except the Land of Israel. All the highest skyscrapers will fall down.

Jews will not be nervous or scared from the earthquake, and will not be hurt. Among gentiles, only "not-nice guys" will be scared, only "not-nice guys" will be hurt.

* Beginning Rosh Chodesh Marcheshvan (November 2005), this earthquake will cease, but the atmosphere will become foggy and cloudy, followed by big rainstorms (originating from the Dead Sea) that create a tremendous flood. This, too, will take place everywhere except the land of Israel. The rain becomes a downpour of "fire, tar, and fuel" but "only on places of bad people."

Floods – In light of the tsunami in Asia, we asked the boy more about the flooding. Will it be like what happened with the tsunami? He answered: No, the water will go all the way up above all the buildings. Jews and good non-Jews will float up and up on the water to shomayim (Heaven) and that will take away our yetzer hara (evil inclination).

* Those who 'died' in the "musical chairs" will return with their neshoma (soul) out of their body. The Jews who did not die in the "musical chairs" will also be in this state.

There will be "holy fire" that will make righteous gentiles want to convert ("their last chance to convert before Moshiach")

Accept the Beast and the Mark of his name, David....Magan David

Rv:13:13: And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14: And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

This "holy fire" will also be the last chance for non-observant Jews to accept the mitzvos of the Torah with free will. "But all of them will convert." Anyone with a Jewish neshoma (Jewish soul) will be inspired to begin observing the Torah, and only those who are from the Erev Rav (those who have attached themselves to the Jewish people but are not truly Jews nor righteous converts) will not do so.

15: And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

However, Jews who didn't become observant of Torah and mitzvos beforehand will now do so "without their neshoma or their yetzer tov or their yetzer hara (good and evil inclinations)." He says this is "like robots." All Jews will be happy with their situation, "but it's better to do [the mitzvos] with [the neshoma]"

16: And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18: Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

* Two people with behavior like Avshalom and Adoniyahu (sons of King David who rebelled against him) will be brought to life and they will die. "Fake" Jews (Erev Rav, who want Jews to leave Eretz Yisroel) will also die.

The two witnesses of the Father in Heaven....are you prepared in the Name of Jesus the Christ? Will you stand Firm? Will you overcome this imposter and his temporary kingdom, by the Blood of the Lamb of Salvation?

Rv:11:3: And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4: These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5: And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6: These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7: And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9: And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10: And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11: And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12: And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

The "fake coming of Moshiach": two "shooting stars" will appear in the sky ("Moshiach is in them").

Rv:9:1: And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

Rv:9:2: And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

Rv:9:11: And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

One comes from the earth to the sky, the other from above to below, coming and going each night. These shooting stars will "explode" every time they appear. "Two Moshiachs will come out, riding on a donkey, and they will connect ("close up together") to be one big Moshiach. "

Demon Possessed by the Dragon who goeth into perdition

The sun will cease to shine (blocked by the moon), but Jews (including righteous gentiles who converted) will be able to "see through the dark."

Rv:9:2: And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

There will be a revival of the dead from among the gentiles.

All Jews will have Yiras Shomayim (fear of Heaven), no matter how much or how little Torah they know. Jews who are not observant will suddenly feel that they need to keep mitzvos (commandments). Even Jews who live far away from any Jewish community will experience this. "They will be protected also."

9: Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10: Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Jews and righteous gentiles will know that this is Moshiach and will have no fear, even if they are ignorant of Torah. We will be happy and excited the whole time, beginning with "Erev Moshiach" (part Two).

Rv:9:20: And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

* “Erev Moshiach” will last for a period of time, during which the Jews will pack their bags for Israel, and the bad gentiles will prepare for war against Israel

Dan:12:11: And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

SOURCES IN TORAH (PART TWO)
• Shooting stars – Numerous places in the Zohar, including Va'era 119a ”In the year sixty-six the Messiah will appear in the land of Galilee. A star in the east will swallow seven stars in the north, and a flame of black fire will hang in the heaven for sixty days..." Also, Balak 212b “...in the future, The Holy One, Blessed is He, will build Jerusalem and one star will spark within 70 pillars of fire and 70 sparks will receive light from it in the middle of the sky. The other 70 stars will be swallowed within it. It will give off light and blaze for 70 days."

• Two Moshiachs “close up together” – see Malbim on Ezekiel 37:19 (two pieces of wood become one, this refers to Moshiach ben Yosef and Moshiach ben David); also, Zohar Vayigash 206a "Yehuda was a king and Yosef was a king, and they approached one another and they united together as one."

• Sun goes dark – mentioned many places in the Zohar and prophets, including Yoel 4:15, Tzafanya 1:15, Amos 8:9, Micha 3:6, etc.

• More righteous non-Jews than Jews – Zecharia 8:23 ten men of all the languages of the nations shall take hold of the skirt of a Jewish man see Rashi there Ten men from the seventy nations. This equals seven hundred for each corner [of the garment]. For the four corners of the [garment] there will be two thousand and eight hundred.

• Resurrection of non-Jews -- see the commentary Yfei Toar, and Maayanei HaYeshuah (Abarbanel) p. 11a

• All Jews will have Yiras Shomayim (fear of Heaven) – See Metzudas Dovid commentary on Zecharia 10:12 “They will walk securely by [G-d's] name to fight against Ashur and Egypt.” See also Malbim on Joel 3, and the commentaries on Isaiah 33:6, such as Mahari Kara "At the end of Times when in the future [Hashem] will 'give interest' from the treasury of yiras shomayim."

See also Mitteler Rebbe, Shaarei Tshuva 82b and the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Basi L'gani 5721(a), par. 7, discussing G-d's "treasure chest" of yiras shomayim which, like a king's dearest treasure, is kept hidden from view until the king desire for victory in war is so great that he is prepared to distribute freely and abundantly to the common soldiers in order to achieve victory in the war.

PART THREE: "The Actions"

"The big war": The Arabs supported by the entire world (except the United States) attack Israel, but Hashem performs miracles and not a single Jew is hurt. Also mentioned are Torah bombs that are like fire and will "burn their faces."

Rom:12:19: Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

* Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon "he will be around for the Actions – he will help fight the war." "Right now his yetzer hora (evil inclination) is beating his yetzer tov (good inclination)."

Secular Aholibah

The pillar of fire (mentioned in the Zohar) will be during this period. The pillar of fire is the sign that we are going to win the war. * Pillar of fire is from the Bais haMikdash (Holy Temple).

Rv:11:19: And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Moshiach's eagle will take every Jew to Israel and when we get there we will grow our own wings. The wings will be the eagle's extra wings. * The patriarchs and Rebbeim won't need wings.

A great earthquake will occur in the Land of Israel, to be followed by earthquakes all over the world. These will "humble" the tall buildings.

Rv:11:13: And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Prophecy (as mentioned in sources) will return to the Jewish people at this time.

The rainbow (mentioned in the Zohar) will tell the bad gentiles to run away because Moshiach is here. Bad gentiles will run away in fear, * but we will "comfort them" to bring them out of hiding so that we can kill them once and for all ("otherwise they would still bother us and tease us.")

Rv:13:16: And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Rv:13:17: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Rv:14:9: And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

PART FOUR: The Actions continued: Moshiach and the Bais Hamikdash (Holy Temple)

The Third Bais Hamikdash (Holy Temple) will (as stated in Midrash and the Zohar) come down from heaven, * next to the Moslem dome (behind the Western Wall). It will cause a "little" earthquake, enough to destroy the dome and "all the places of avoda zara domes (places of idolotry)."

Rv:21:22: And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

* The Bais Hamikdash will subsequently move over to where the Moslem dome is presently situated.

Third flesh temple of denial and doom

* The Arabs will not be able to see the Bais Hamikdash. They will be angry that their dome was destroyed and will make a "small war" against the Jews, which will last one day.

All Jews will be in Jerusalem and will be able to go inside the Bais Hamikdash. The first-born will resume serving in the Holy Temple. Jews who are presently Jews (including present-day converts and those who are not now religious) will be Cohanim and Levites; the non-Jews who convert during the "Holy Fire" will be Yisroel. The Cohanim and Levites will be a new level, not like today; the Yisroel will be like the Jews of today.

The following is a fascinating correspondence of emails discussing the recent terrorist attacks in the U.S. and how it relates to the process of Redemption.

I finally remembered what we were talking about Motzaei Shabbos. The sources I had mentioned for you to look at were Yechezkel: 38-39, Yoel: 4 and Zechariah: 14. Essentially, they all discuss the final installment of the war of Gog and Magog.

The hollalim are described as so completely evil that they are considered insane. If you look at the targum of the word "hollalim," you will discover that it is "talibanim" (the actual verb form is "m’talevin" or "m’talevun").

The commentaries of the Radak and the Meiri on the two chapters mentioned above discuss the conclusion of the war of Gog U’Magog. They mention that the hollalim will reside in fortified mountain strongholds. Interestingly, the MeiAm Loez, commenting on the Song at the Sea of Reeds, mentions in passing that these people (whom he identifies as the nation of Magog itself) were defeated and imprisoned in this region by Alexander the Great, and that they won’t escape from there to wreak havoc on the world - until the time of the Redemption.

Furthermore, it is mentioned in the Tur, Orach Chaim: 490, in the name of Hai Gaon, that the war of Gog U’Magog will break out during Chol HaMoed Sukkos, and the resurrection of the dead will be in Nissan. Isn’t it amazing that according to the book Chesed L’Avrohom, the resurrection of the dead would follow on the heels of the year 5760? The book relates this whole process to the idea of the filling of a mikva, and says this will be the process of "removing the tuma" from the world.

In other words, Gog MiGog is the leader of the most materialistic and wealthy nation on earth. Is there any question what nation that is?

The period of the Gulf War coincided with what is referred to in Torah, and in particular, in the Maamer HaGeula of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato, as the Pekida. The Pekida is a glimpse of how the final Redemption will unfold. The first stage is temporary, and the final and complete Redemption follows later in the final stage, which is called the Zechira.

It is worth noting that in the chapter of Yoel cited above (Yoel 4:10), that same expression ("swords into plowshares") used by Isaiah is repeated. It would be expected that the same type of activity would be characteristic in this final conflict. Isn’t it amazing that the western media was going out of its way to emphasize that the military was dropping bombs, as well as food and medicine, in this conflict!

Commentaries explain it is not really a comet, but a fireball that will explode in mid-air, heralding 1) the fall of the dominion of the gentile nations, and 2) the transfer of authority to King Moshiach, who is about to be revealed], "on the 25th day of the 6th month" [the 25th of Elul (September 13th in the year 2001)] "and this will conclude on the 7th day, at the end of 70 days" (the implication is that we should watch for something on or around Thanksgiving Day of this year). [Note: As of Thanksgiving Day, news reports revealed that the Taliban began to surrender; since that day there has been a growing sense of imminent triumph on the part of the Americans.]

It goes on to explain that this process concludes when King Moshiach arises (the actual expression is "grows") from a cave in the land of Israel to be king over the entire world. Some people don’t like to look at the Zohar as literal or physical, but concerning this particular section, Rabbi Moshe Cordevero, in his commentary, Ohr Yakar, says that all of these events happen on a spiritual level and a physical level. All the commentaries I have seen refer the reader to other sections explaining the resurrection for additional details about what takes place.

As is discussed in many places within the Torah, and in particular, in the first Chassidic discourse given by the Rebbe Rayatz, "Reishit Goyim Amalek," once the head of the nations, Amalek, is defeated, the rest of the nations will be uplifted. The conflict, the opposition to G-d’s Will, and the establishment of His kingdom in a complete fashion, depends solely on Amalek and those connected to Amalek. The Un-Holy cities of Whoredom

Teverya,(Tiberius) along with Yerushalayim, Tzfas and Chevron, is one of the four holy cities in Eretz Yisrael. It lies in the north, along the shores of the beautiful blue waters of the Kinneret, the lowest fresh water lake in the world. Its climate is warm and pleasant all year round and it is famous for its hot springs called the Chamei Teverya which are world renowned for their curative powers.

After the destruction of the second Bais Ha'Mikdosh, the Sanhedrin moved here (after first being in Tzipori). The Gemorah says that the name Teverya means navel, since it is located in the very center of the country (or perhaps because it was the center of Torah study during those times). The Rambam writes that the Sanhedrin will be reinstated here before the coming of Moshiach and from here it will move on to Yerushalayim.

The city contains many holy graves and burial caves including the burial sites of Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai, Rebbi Akiva (Jack Van Impe just raves about rib-eye akiva)and his wife Rochel, Rebbi Meir Baal Ha'ness, the Rambam as well as his his father, Rabbi Dovid Hanagid, the Shela Ha'kodosh, Rav Kahana, the Ramchal-Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto, Rabbi Chiyya and his sons, Rabbi Yirmiyahu, Rebbi Yochanan ben Nappaha, Rebbi Ami, Rebbe Ashi, Bilah, Zilpah (Yaacov's wives), Yocheved (Moshe's mother), Tziporah (Moshe's wife), Miriam (Moshe's sister), Elisheva bas Aminadav (Aharon's wife), as well as many more great tzaddikim who are buried in the ancient cemetery at the beginning of town.

which HaShem your G-d gives you, for your tribes,

and they shall judge the people with righteous justice."

(Dev. 16:18)

"Righteousness, righteousness, shall you pursue."

(Dev. 16:20)

The lesson in this week’s parasha is one of the most difficult for us to deal with in

modern society, the pursuit of justice. The parasha begins by commanding us to

establish and empower courts of Law and to deploy enforcement officers whose job it is

to impose compliance to the Law. Neither of these concepts sounds foreign to those of

us today living in western democratic states. However, the Torah is speaking about the

imposition of religion.

In our modern democratic society where the concept of freedom is paramount, the

concept of government imposed religious coercion is considered loathsome. Yet, this is

exactly what Torah is commanding us to do. Some modern Torah commentators will

attempt to explain away the clear meaning of this passage, to make it more palatable for

today’s audience. Nonetheless, we must understand what this commandment is really

saying and how best we can fulfill it today, although we do not live under the ideal

conditions to fulfill it properly in accordance to its original meaning.

The concepts of Shoftim (judges) and Shotrim (police officers) are well known to us and

excepted by us as foundational to any society. No modern country would be able to

survive if it did not have a court system to uphold the nation’s laws and a police force to

go after the lawbreakers. The United States and most western countries have three

branches of government, the legislature (Congress), the judiciary (Federal Courts) and

the executive (President and Cabinet).

According to Torah Law, the separate roles of a judiciary and a legislature were

combined in one body – the Sanhedrin. The King, descended from David headed the

executive. Thus, the King and the Sanhedrin were the supreme bodies of Law

enactment, Law enforcement and Legal judgements.

The Grand Sanhedrin was the highest legislative and judicial body in Israel. Yet, there

were lower Sanhedrins, both at the national, tribal and local levels. Indeed, every city at

least had a Beit Din (a court of three).

Three Judge Panels

Even today, centuries after the dismantling of the

Sanhedrins, the local Beit Dins in the individual cities still carry the weight of Torah law

enforcers. This is clearly defined in this parasha (Dev. 17:9-12).

Unlike American law, one accused of violating Torah law was never subject to trial by a

jury of one’s peers. Such a concept is inherently flawed according to Torah. Torah law

demands that the accused individual be judged for his alleged action. Issues peripheral

to the specific case do not matter. Interpretations of the crime are inadmissible in a

Torah Court. Either the evidence exists to convict or there is no conviction. Two

witnesses are required to have witnessed the violator knowingly transgress the Law. (Jews only)

It is the job of the Torah Judges (not a jury) to decide whether the witnesses are indeed

telling the truth.

There are no attorneys. There are no plea bargains in Torah law, or

lengthy appeals processes. The judges themselves act as both prosecutor and defense

council. Their concern is only for one thing – JUSTICE! Justice is the basis upon which

all Torah law is based.

In order to avoid having to punish people in court for violation of the law, a police force

was established to make sure people comply with the law.

Yet, understand that when

this Torah commandment was given, the police force of those days was instructed to

uphold Torah Law. In those days, the police would have arrested and punished anyone

who dared violate the Shabat, eat something unkosher or dress in an immodest fashion.

These were the Torah police. This is a concept that sends dread and fear into the

hearts of modern Jews, including many Orthodox. Yet, the establishment of a Torah

Police is a Divine commandment. Although the Sanhedrins no longer stand, the

commandment to establish and maintain a Torah police force still does.

To make matters worse from a modern point of view, Rashi’s commentary quoting

Midrash Tanhuma states that the job of the Torah police is to impose legal compliance

on the populace "B’makel U’b’ritzuah" (with a cane and a strap). In other words,

compliance was imposed corporeally. You observed the laws of Torah and of the Beit

Din, or else you were literally beaten into submission. The job of the Torah police is to

impose the orders of the Court (San. 16a). What a horrible thought by modern day

standards. Yet, this is Torah Law. How far have we fallen from understanding and

supporting a Torah way of life?

One of the many sins in today’s Orthodox circles is that most individuals do not fulfill the

edict in Pirkei Avot (1:6) which states, "Aseh L’kha Rav" (make for yourselves a Rav).

In other words, in order to avoid confusion and violations in areas of Halakha and

Hashkafa, which can then lead to punishment, each individual Jew should have his own

Rav whose authority he accepts in all religious matters.

Alas for us, muddled as we are

in our misguided attitudes of freedom, that are nothing more than justifications for

rebellion.

Today, if a person’s Rav says something that the person disagree with, he simply goes

Rabbi shopping and gets other Rabbinic opinions until he finds one that he approves of.

Not any man is a rabbi or Master save the Father in Heaven

This is a disgrace, an abuse and circumvention of Rabbinic authority.

The Elohim gods, Gibborim of the Nephi-lim, wanna be gods who Crucified the SON of God

Instead of following our holy Rabbis, some religious people today decide Jewish Law for

themselves, making grievous errors because they are not willing to submit themselves

to a higher authority. Instead of molding themselves to Halakha (Torah law), some

religious people today endeavor to mold Halakha to themselves, to remake it over in

their own image (G-d forbid).

Because we do not have today Torah law enforcement this has allowed all forms of

Jewish heretical movements to flower like weeds, some even within the Orthodox

communities. Yet, if anyone were to call for a grass roots organization to attempt to

impose Torah Law on others, such a one would be called every bad name under the

sun.

bad about Law enforcement?

We all respect police officers and hold them in the highest esteem. Why should this be

limited to only secular officers enforcing secular law? What do you have against Torah

police officers enforcing Torah Law? Think about how this makes you feel?

How would you feel if a Torah policeman gave you a $50.00 fine for davening too fast?

I would not be davening my mercedes too fast any more?

You probably would be outraged! Yet, how would you feel if a local police officer gave

you a $50.00 fine for driving too fast?

Drive fast again?

That you would understand and accept. You

would admit that you were driving too fast, pay your fine and be quiet about the matter.

You accept and respect secular law, but what about Torah law?

What if your synagogue Rabbi made a new rule that those who arrive late for davening

thus holding up the minyan would be fined $25.00 each time? You would be outraged,

call the Rabbi some bad names and most likely find yourself another shul to daven in.

Yet, why? Why do you so adamantly reject any type of Torah law enforcement?

Please do not go hiding under the shirttails of democracy and say that we live in a free

country and that one here can do what one chooses. This is a lie, both for Gentile and

especially for the Jew! A Gentile is required by Divine law to observe the Sheva Mitzvot

mitzvot. These laws are not subject to discussion, change or repeal! There is no

Even when our holy Rabbis enacted the ordinance of Dina D’malkhut Dina (the law of

the land is to be followed as if it were Torah law), this only applies when said Gentile

law does not contradict Torah law.

In case of conflict, a Jew is required to follow Torah

law. I know this might anger some, but nonetheless, it is the Halakha. America and

other nations cannot dictate law to a Jew in contradiction to Halakha.

So the Jews are above our laws

Nonetheless, this is no excuse for flagrant violation of Gentile secular law. Those laws

must be upheld with all vigor of Torah law, just so long as they do not contradict. Thus,

a Torah observant Jew must observe the laws of the Gentile country that he lives in.

Even if those laws are stricter than Torah law, the Jew is required to follow them and be

meticulous about them. As long as they do not contradict Torah law, they must be

followed.

If a Jew were, for example, to cheat on his income taxes or in business, by taking a

loophole allowed by Halakha but forbidden by secular law such an individual cannot

claim that because the Torah law allows him such, he doesn’t have to listen to secular

law forbidding it. This violates both secular and Torah law. Such a one commits a Hillul

HaShem (desecration of G-d’s Name). If Torah law enforcement were available, such a

one would be publicly whipped for his crime!

The major point that must be emphasized in this week's parasha is not merely the rule

of law, but rather the pursuit of justice. Justice is one of those funny things that might

not always be found under the letter of the law. Indeed, one attorney friend of mine (another serpent)

once told me that American courts are courts of law, not of justice. Well, this is not

satisfactory under Torah law. Torah commands us to pursue justice. This means that

at whatever cost we have to run after justice, track it down, capture it and make sure

that in every law case justice is the outcome and not merely the letter of the law. Justice

is almost a forgotten concept in the western secular court systems.

Justice means doing what is righteous, it means doing what is right. We all too often

forget about right and wrong and seek to do the convenient.

Such as Public Prayer, Public Displays of the Commandments ansd Nativity scenes?

This is what perverts

justice. It is the lack of justice that causes resentment. Resentment turns into anger,

anger turns into revolt, revolt turns into revolution and in the end, all we have left is

anarchy, pain and suffering. These are the fruits of injustice, even when one wants to

say that it is the letter of the law. As our holy Rabbis (Serpents seed) have taught, we have to go "Lifnim

M’shurat HaDin (beyond the letter of the law). We must pursue justice! We must

embrace law enforcement, especially of the Torah kind, for by doing so, we push

ourselves to become better individuals. We must become better individuals of better

moral character. Only in this way can we become better Jews and hasten the coming of

Mashiah.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department says the men repeatedly shot the cat with a pellet gun after a manager told them to get rid of the animal which had been living in a storage trailer behind the store.

Wal-Mart says it plans to donate $10,000 to two Evansville-area animal shelters.
