The source for the Vilna Ga'on's explanation is the Midrash (Shir ha'Shirim Rabah 3:13) and Yerushalmi (Sanhedrin 1:2) which associate the verse of Shlomo's bed with the verses that describe the "Ro'ei Pnei ha'Melech" and the sixty others.
21: I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Here is a ruling which doesn't make much sense
In the Laws of Noah it specifies that "and blood from a LIVING animal is
permitted to him," (Mishneh Torah; Hilkoth Melakhim u-Milhhamotheham 9:14
[10]).
Ok, so this is a direct violation of
Leviticus 17:10-14
which clearly states that we Gerei Ha Sha'ar are forbidden from consuming ANY
manner of blood because it contains the Nephesh.
Clearly in this event Maimonides must have misunderstood the ruling of the great
court and is passing on a garbled message no? The only thing I can think it
might pertain to is blood transfusions.
I seriously doubt that Maimonides meant what is interpreted from it now. On a
related issue, are all animals permitted to the Hassidei Umot Ha Olam? In which
case is eating dead human flesh (as long as one has not killed the human)
permissible?
It is important to deal with difficult questions of morality according to
Noahism in order to answer criticism.

1. At the seventh meeting of the above commission, held in Jerusalem, the chairmen Cardinal Jorge Mejia and Chief Rabbi Shear Yashuv Cohen noted the significance of the number seven within the biblical tradition as indicating fullness and maturity. They expressed the hope that the fullness of the relationship between the Catholic and the Jewish members of this commission will be a source of blessing to both faith communities and the world at large.

2. The subject of the meeting was the Freedom of Religion and Conscience and its Limits. The human capacity to choose is a manifestation of the Divine Image in which all people are created (cf. Gn 1: 26-27) and is foundational for the Biblical concept of human responsibility and Divine justice (cf. Dt 30: 19).
3. God has created the human person as a social being which by definition places limits on individual human freedom. Moreover freedom of choice is derived from God and therefore is not absolute, but must reflect Divine will and law. Accordingly human beings are called to freely obey the Divine will as manifested in the Creation and in His revealed word.
Jewish tradition emphasizes the Noachide Covenant (cf. Gn 9: 9-12) as containing. the universal moral code which is incumbent on all humanity. This idea is reflected in Christian Scripture in the Book of Acts 15: 28-29.

4. Accordingly the idea of moral relativism is antithetical to this religious world view and poses a serious threat to humanity.

We
see the same thing in international law. If someone is accused of committing
murder in Canada and flees to US, the United State legal system recognizes
Canadian law and will send him back to Canada to stand trial. If someone is
accused of committing murder in Cuba and flees to the US, the United States
legal system may or may not send him back to Cuba.
The basic laws of humanity (the seven
laws) are considered the essential requirements for mutual recognition of law
(symmetric legal reciprocity), but they are not a legal
system by themselves. Each nation of the world must have its own legal system
that promotes justice (required to fulfill the law of dinim).
This means that even if something is not prohibited by the seven laws, it is not
necessarily allowed. There are all manner of perverse, bizarre and
nonconstructive behavior which is not specifically mentioned in Rabbinical
documents, but would be - and could be - prohibited by the laws of the nation of
which the BN is a citizen.
As far as blood goes, there are several places where Rabbinic tradition brings a
deeper tradition that is not at first consistent with a simple reading of the
verse. The most famous example is "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a
tooth" which is interpreted to mean a monetary fine equivalent to the loss
of an eye or tooth. If Gen 9:4 meant only not to eat blood, then it would allow
tearing limbs from a living animal. The Rabbis ruled "tearing limbs from a
living animal" was the primary meaning of the verse, and the nations of the
world can rule as they wish concerning blood, human flesh, etc, as they see fit
to best promote justice and upright behavior in their country.
For example, if a country would allow a legal ruling that
in a life or death situation (such as in airline crash survivors in the arctic)
the survivors can cannibalize their dead fellow passengers without facing the
death penalty, that country would not be considered a rouge nation by Jewish
Law. Alternatively (as is the law in the UK at least until the 1800s)
cannibalism under any situation was illegal and led to a famous case of the
hanging of the lone survivors of a shipwrek. A country with a ruling such as
this would also not be considered a rogue
state. Judaism is simply not allowed to say anything in this matter. But this is
a far cry from saying that either case is moral, right or proper behavior.
As far as morality goes, Judaism can explain what it has ruled for its people,
but other nations are not required to rule the same way. The nations of the
world must promote justice among their citizens, and for the manner in which
they do this Judaism must rely on the spiritual (in the true sense) and
sovereign leaders of each nation. The seven laws are a measure to allow mutual
recognition of legal systems, but they are not a legal system in and of
themselves.

Vatican: It's OK to believe in aliens
VATICAN CITY (AP) - The Vatican's chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God.The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, says that the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.
In an interview published Tuesday by Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, Funes says that such a notion "doesn't contradict our faith" because aliens would still be God's creatures.
The interview was headlined "The extraterrestrial is my brother."
