The Revelation of Jesus the Christ the LORD God and His Father

Rv:19:10: And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Right-wing rabbis pass on small letter to be delivered to US president on his upcoming visit which asks leader to free convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, declare Israel belongs to Jews, urge American Jews to make aliyah

On the eve of US President George W. Bush's visit to Israel, Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, the so-called president of the Sanhedrin, has prepared a small greeting card for the leader in which he requests that president declare the Land of Israel belongs to the Jews, free convicted US spy Jonathan Pollard and encourage US Jews to move to Israel.

The letter is to be passed onto the American president by a "very senior person" that is set to meet with him during the visit.

The Babylonian Talmud tells us that Queen Esther requested of the governing Sanhedrin that Purim be marked by the writing of a book or chronicle that would become one of our holy books to be studied over the generations. She also requested that the book—the Megillah—not only be written but that it be read aloud on each ensuing Purim, as is our tradition. Our commentaries tell us that Mordechai wanted Purim to be observed as a Jewish holy day, with prayer, introspection, and remembrance. He wanted it to be a holiday on which we would abstain from work and so on. He did not necessarily see the need for a book to be written, let alone one considered part of Tanach. Nor did he feel at the time that it would need to be read aloud in shuls every year.

The Jerusalem Talmud records a similar text, with the addition of citing that this was not just the request of Esther, but of Mordechai, too.

We gain a better insight into these two leadership positions by understanding why initially Mordechai is referred to in the Megillah as “Mordechai HaYehudi.” Mordechai was a senior member of the Sanhedrin, with a key position in that Jewish governing body. In that capacity, he would have had to agree to Esther’s request that a book commemorating Purim be written and that it be read every year. How could he have advocated both positions?

Steinsaltz wrote the message in Hebrew and it was translated into English by Rabbi Chaim Richman, International Director of the Temple Institute, an organization dedicated to rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem. 

The letter opens with praise for Bush as the "president of the West" and is followed by a list of demands including to declare "in front of the world that the Land of Israel was given to the Jewish people by the Creator." 

The American president is requested to seize the opportunity of his visit to Israel to make a proclamation similar to proclamations, Steinsaltz claims, made by Persian king Cyrus the Great in 539 BCE as well as Englishman Lord James Balfour in 1917: to recognize the right of the Jewish people over the Land of Israel. Steinsaltz also asks that the American president work to settle Jews in "every corner of the Land of Israel" and push America Jews to make aliyah. 

"I will urge the Jews in my country and hold the corners of their garments to bring them to the Land of Israel and settle them there and to erect the Temple of God in Jerusalem and to push foreigners away from it."

Whereas Congress recognizes the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation was founded;

Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws;

Whereas without these ethical values and principles the edifice of civilization stands in serious peril of returning to chaos;

Whereas society is profoundly concerned with the recent weakening of these principles that has resulted in crises that beleaguer and threaten the fabric of civilized society;

MISHNAH. HE [THE KING] MAY LEAD FORTH [THE HOST] TO A VOLUNTARY WAR7  ON THE DECISION OF A COURT OF SEVENTY-ONE. HE MAY FORCE A WAY THROUGH PRIVATE PROPERTY8  AND NONE MAY OPPOSE HIM. Rab Judah said in Samuel's name: All that is set out in the chapter [dealing with the actions] of a king,11  he is permitted to do. Rab said: That chapter was intended only to inspire them with awe,12  for it is written, Thou shalt in anywise set him king over thee;13  [i.e.,] his awe should be over thee.

Lk:23:2: And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

It has been taught: R. Jose26  said: Three commandments were given to Israel when they entered the land; [i] to appoint a king; [ii] to cut off the seed of Amalek; [iii] and to build themselves the chosen house [i.e. the Temple] and I do not know which of them has priority. But, when it is said: The hand upon the throne of the Lord, the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation,27  we must infer that they had first to set up a king, for 'throne' implies a king, as it is written, Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king.28  Yet I still do not know which [of the other two] comes first, the building of the chosen Temple or the cutting off of the seed of Amalek. Hence, when it is written, And when He giveth you rest from all your enemies round about etc., and then [Scripture proceeds], Then it shall come to pass that the place which the Lord your God shall choose,29  it is to be inferred that the extermination of Amalek is first. And so it is written of David, And it came to pass when the king dwelt in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from his enemies round about, and the passage continues; that the king said unto Nathan the Prophet: See now, I dwell in a house of cedars etc.30

Resh Lakish said: At first, Solomon reigned over the higher beings,31  as it is written, Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king;32  afterwards, [having sinned,] he reigned [only] over the lower,33  as it is written, For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tifsah even to Gaza.34

Rab and Samuel [explain this verse in different ways]: One says, Tifsah was situated at one end of the world35  and Gaza at the other. The other says: Tifsah and Gaza were beside each other,36  and just as he reigned over these, so did he reign over the whole world. But eventually his reign was restricted to Israel, as it is written, I Koheleth have been king over Israel etc.37  Later, his reign was confined to Jerusalem alone, even as it is written, The words of Koheleth, son of David, king in Jerusalem.38  And still later he reigned only over his couch,39  as it is written, Behold it is the litter of Solomon, three-score mighty men are about it etc.40  And finally, he reigned only over his staff as it is written, This was my portion from all my labour.41

Rab and Samuel [explain this differently]: One says: His staff [was all that was left him]; the other: His Gunda.42

Did he regain his first power, or not? Rab and Samuel [differ]: One maintains that he did; the other, that he did not. The one who says that he did not, agrees with the view that Solomon was first a king and then a commoner;43  the other, who says that he did, agrees with the view that he was first king, then commoner and finally king again.

Our Rabbis taught: Royal treasures44  [must be given] to the king; but of all other spoil, half to the king and half to the people. Abaye said to R. Dimi or, according to others, to Rab Aha: We quite understand it is the natural thing to give royal treasures [wholly] to the king; but where do we learn that of all other spoil he is to receive half? — From the verse,

 

3: And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4: These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5: And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6: These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7: And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

1) A FATHER'S ACCEPTANCE OF A "GET" ON BEHALF OF HIS "KETANAH" DAUGHTER

QUESTION: The Mishnah discusses a Ketanah who was married off by her father and then she received a Get while she was still a Ketanah. RASHI (DH Ketanah and DH ba'Meh Devarim Amurim) writes that her *father* received the Get on her behalf. Rashi writes the same in Sanhedrin (69b). Even though we find that after Nisu'in, she is no longer in the Reshus of her father, she does remain in his Reshus with regard to receiving a Get.

However, Rashi in Kesuvos (46b, DH u'Mekabel) and in Kidushin (43b, DH Hi v'Aviha) writes that the father may *not* receive a Get for his daughter after Nisu'in; he may only receive a Get for her after Erusin was done, before Nisu'in, because she leaves the Reshus of her father after Nisu'in.

This question -- whether the father may be receive a Get on behalf of his daughter after Nisu'in -- is discussed by TOSFOS in Kidushin (10a DH u'Mekabel), who remains in doubt as to the actual Halachah. However, Rashi seems to be taking both sides, sometimes saying that the father may receive the Get for her after Nisu'in, and sometimes saying that the father may not receive the Get for her after Nisu'in! How can the apparently contradictory views of Rashi be reconciled?

ANSWER: REBBI AKIVA EIGER (Teshuvos 2:100) suggests that Rashi's words can be reconciled as follows. When Rashi says that the father can receive the Get on behalf of his daughter, Rashi is referring to an actual Ketanah. In Kesuvos and Kidushin (loc. cit.), though, when Rashi says that she must receive her own Get, Rashi is discussing a Na'arah (see Rashi there). A Na'arah can receive her own Get, and her father cannot receive it for her, after Nisu'in. (Tosfos in Kidushin 10a hints to the possibility of making such a distinction.)

The reasoning behind this is that a Ketanah cannot receive her own Get since she cannot make a Kinyan. Therefore, the Torah gave the father the authority to accept the Get on her behalf so that she could become divorced. The Na'arah, though, must accept her own Get.

AGADAH: The Gemara cites the verse in Shir ha'Shirim (3:7-8) that states, "Behold, it is the bed of Shlomo, surrounded by sixty Giborim (mighty men) of the mighty men of Israel. They all grasp the sword and are trained in warfare; each man with his sword upon his thigh, [protecting] against the dread of the nights." The Chachamim derive from this verse that a Dayan, when issuing a ruling, should be as fearful as though a sword is placed beneath him between his legs and Gehinom is below him.

According to the Gemara's Derashah, who are the "sixty" men mentioned in the verse?

(a) RASHI explains that the mighty men are the Talmidei Chachamim who comprise the Sanhedrin, who are fearful as though a sword is placed beneath them etc. However, we know that the Sanhedrin was comprised of *seventy* Dayanim, and not just sixty. Where are the other ten?

Rashi in Sanhedrin (7b) says that according to this Derashah, the number sixty in the verse is indeed not an exact figure. The point of the verse is to emphasize that Talmidei Chachamim should be adequately prepared when they issue rulings.

The MAHARSHA (in Sanhedrin) brings support for Rashi's interpretation of who the mighty men of the verse are from a Midrash Rabah (Bamidbar 11:7) which explains that the sixty men are Dayanim.

(b) TOSFOS argues and says that "Giborim" refers to the sixty myriads (600,000) of the Jewish people. (This also has its source in the Midrash, ibid. and Yalkut Shimoni 2:986.) It seems that according to Tosfos, the verse is saying that Shlomo ha'Melech, the Dayan, is surrounded by the Jewish people who come to him to judge their cases, and he and his associates must be afraid of Gehinom.

The ROKE'ACH (on Shir ha'Shirim) brings support for this from a Gematria: "Shishim Giborim" is equal in numerical value to "Eleh Shishim Rivo."

(c) THE VILNA GA'ON (ibid.) supports Rashi's interpretation. He explains that when Sanhedrin sat, ten (of the most important members) sat in the middle of the group, and they were surrounded by the other sixty. These are the "sixty mighty men *around* the bed of Shlomo. (The ten in the middle correspond to the seven "Ro'ei Pnei ha'Melech" and three "Shomrei ha'Saf," who are closest to the king, in a king's court -- and in the king of king's court -- see Megilah 23a. The verse in II Melachem 25:19, which associates these authoritative members of the king's court with sixty other men, is discussing the members of the Sanhedrin.

On a historical basis, it's not hard to see why Jewish people would want a superhero. You can only spend so much time being persecuted before you get tired of it.

In medieval times, the persecution was particularly intense and the solution was extreme, or so the story goes. There are several variations on the legend of the Golem, but the most widely known version places the activity in Prague during the 16th century.

The acceptance of the Tanakh and learning of the ways of Jacob's God do not necessarily mean that nations will have to convert to Judaism.
Today, according to our sages1, nations are expected to abide by the "Seven Laws of the Sons of Noah", often spoken of as the Seven Noahide Laws. These are: no idolatry, blasphemy, murder, incest, stealing, eating from a living animal (or eating of blood). Laws should be made according to these strictures.
At first glance, we might think that these rules are already observed. But if they were, would not the world be in a more orderly state?
Consider the fact that idolatry is not committed merely by prostrating oneself before statues or by excessive devotion to personality cults. In Hebrew, the term "idolatry" describes any attitude by which things, ideas, persons or one's own ego become more important than the Most High. It thus embraces the worship of material objects and of the state. 'My country, right or wrong' reflects the attitudes of many nations, often to such a degree that the Divine is seen as to serve the nation instead of the nations seen in the service of the Divine. The worship of power and personality (symbolized in ancient times by Mars) still predominates.
There are numerous Christians and Muslims who want to impose on the Jews their respective creeds and practices, and this in spite of the fact that the latter are not always congruent even with their own respective Scriptures, not to speak of the Tanakh. Are the representatives of such an attitude not aware that they deify their own imagination and willful interpretations, i.e. something which the Prophet Samuel condemned as idolatry: "...behold, to obey is better than sacrifice...". (1 Sam.15:22; cf. Deuter.13:2-5, 18:18-22).
Similarly, religious fundamentalists pick certain passages of their holy scriptures that appeal to their swollen egos, and make them the fundament of their creeds and deeds. Still others promote existentialism as Man's top priority. As Jews cannot condone such idolatries, they have been accused of being stiff-necked, out-dated, legalistic, etc., etc., and have been persecuted for their faithfulness to the Covenant which the Lord God of Heavens and Earth had made with them.
Blasphemy is committed by reviling any other human being (for we are all created in God's image), or by talking impiously about God Himself.

BUT OF COURSE

 Referring to the Most High as "the God of the Old Testament" or "the God of vengeance" [in contrast to the New Testament's "God of Love"] is blasphemous; so is belittling Him as the God of the Jews, who evolved from a tribal god into an urban deity and eventually became the national God.
Although nations issue laws forbidding such crimes as murder, incest and theft, these laws do not extend beyond crimes committed by citizens against their societies. Whenever a war, a bloody coup d'etat or revolution succeed, their supporters not only go unpunished, but are raised to the stature of heroes, no matter how many people they robbed and killed. Jewish blood is spilled and counted for nothing, and those who spill it and call for the destruction of the Jewish nation are received in international gatherings as honorable gentlemen. Moreover, instigating, consenting and acquiescing to murder are as evil as the act itself. Doing it “in the name of Allah”, in the disguise of Jihad (“Holy War”), is also outright blasphemous. Anti-Semitism, with its libeling of Jews, lays the groundwork for actually killing them. The same is true in the defamation of any ethnic group. These aberrations are the results of idolatry, which causes nations to pass laws or resolutions according to their temporal convenience, or simply not to apply the laws they have passed.
In spite of strict prohibitions in Gen.9:4 and Acts 15:292, nations do not observe the "no eating of blood" rule. Blood is the soul3. By eating blood or meat with its blood, Man mixes his Divine soul with that of a creature brought forth from the earth. By doing so, he derogates his Divine heritage4, and opens himself to the animal instincts.
So far, nations have not been willing to come up to the Mountain of the Lord "to learn the ways of the God of Jacob".

FLESH itsreallyhell

 How could they, after they destroyed the Holy Temple (God destroyed the house of their abominations)  and devastated the Temple Mount, using it as a refuse dump5, and after they blasphemed the Most High?
The Name of the Lord is still veiled before the eyes of the world. The "Seven Noahide Laws" are not observed, for nations lack true insight and understanding of these laws. This lack expresses itself by attitudes towards the Star of David ranging from uncertainty and suspicion to outright rejection. How can nations cherish this symbol if they do not know the Name of the Lord of the Heavens and of the Earth, and accept Him as their shield?
According to the Prophets, His Name will be revealed in the wake of Israel's resurrection6. Nations will then recognize the truth7 of the Word handed down through Moses and the Prophets. They will become aware of the Lord's existence: a new and deeper understanding will prevail. They will develop a desire "to learn the ways of the God of Jacob" and enjoy the attendant blessings. The "Seven Noahide Laws" will be heeded and enlivened by the Name: "I am the Lord".
Nations will come to respect the other commandments of the Torah, although these will not be binding on them. Once instilled with fear and love of God, nations will want to mend their ways and comply with these commandments. For instance, keeping Shabbath is both a commandment and a sign of the Covenant for the people of Israel. There is no commandment for nations to honor this day. Yet, they will come to observe it as a day of rest, out of respect for Israel, and because they will understand that it is the seventh day which has the blessing of the Lord8.
Nations will also acknowledge Israel's priestly function since the days of Abraham. Instead of pride, there will be awe; instead of hatred, love; instead of discord, consent. They will come to recognize what it means when Israel is called by the Name (שם, shem) of the Lord9.
The two disarrayed triangles, if seen as standing for Israel and the nations, will join into a harmonious six-pointed star.

Rv:17:6: And I saw the woman (jerusalem that Harlot city, spiritual Sodom and Egypt) drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Rev 18:20: Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and 

ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

 

Rv:11:8: And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,

 where also our Lord was crucified.

(The ten in the middle correspond to the seven "Ro'ei Pnei ha'Melech" and three "Shomrei ha'Saf," who are closest to the king, in a king's court -- and in the king of king's court -- see Megilah 23a. The verse in II Melachem 25:19, which associates these authoritative members of the king's court with sixty other men, is discussing the members of the Sanhedrin.

According to Yeshiva Ohr Tmimim in Kfar Chabad near Tel Aviv, the "Lubavitcher Rebbe" - Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, who died June 12, 1994 is the promised Jewish Messiah, as outlined in the Tanach (Old Testament). The Refiner's Fire poses the following challenge to this allegation:

Whereas Congress recognizes the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation was founded;

Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws;

 

COME now unbelieving? Where is just the simple little mind that you should possess? Where is just a simple understanding here?

Whereas without these ethical values and principles the edifice of civilization stands in serious peril of returning to chaos;

Whereas society is profoundly concerned with the recent weakening of these principles that has resulted in crises that beleaguer and threaten the fabric of civilized society;

Whereas the justified preoccupation with these crises must not let the citizens of this Nation lose sight of their responsibility to transmit these historical ethical values from our distinguished past to the generations of the future;

Whereas the Lubavitch movement has fostered and promoted these ethical values and principles throughout the world;

1: And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2: And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3: For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, 

and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

All nations and the kings of the earth are all in it together


4: And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Will you come out?


5: For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6: Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.


7: How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart,

  I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.


8: Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9: And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10: Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11: And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

14: And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15: The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16: And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17: For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18: And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19: And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing,

saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.


20: Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

14: And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Will you Stand Firm or Hide?

will you testify for the Life Giver?

15: And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14: Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15: For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

17: And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
