Behold, False Christ...the
Son of perdition "REVEALED"
http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Jewish_eschatology
Jewish eschatology
is concerned with Mashiach (the Messiah)
and Olam Haba
(Hebrew
for "the world to come"; i.e. the afterlife).
the afterlife after the demise of the
LORD's saints....which ain't gonna last very long
The Hebrew word Mashiach
(or Moshiach)
means anointed one, and refers to a mortal human
being.
While Christians
use the word "messiah" as well, they use it in a different way. For many
Christians, God's ultimate miracle was His Self-Incarnation as a human
being.
FOR ONLY TRUE CHRISTIANS
In this view, God was both fully human and yet also fully divine, both
limited in intelligence and yet omniscient, simultaneously. Philosophically and
logically, these claims appear mutually incompatible.
Hahhahahahaah GOD the CREATOR
Within Judaism,
the Mashiach is a human being who will be a descendant of King
David,
a Kohenim....John Kerry Kohenim?
and who will usher in a messianic era of peace and prosperity for Israel
and all the nations of the world. The job description, as such, is this:
Or death by decapitation
- All of the people of Israel
will come back to Torah
(TALMUD BAVLI)
Jesus the Christ will lead all his sheep back to the
truth in Spirit, the seed of Abraham by faith in the Lamb according to His
Promise
- The people of Israel will be gathered back to the land
of Israel.
The people of ISRAEL the seed of Abraham
by faith will be gathered to Sion God's Holy Mountain in Heaven
- The Holy Temple
in Jerusalem will be rebuilt.
And Jesus is the Temple of Heaven and
the Light of heaven to his children
- Israel will live among the nations as an equal, and will be strong enough
to defend herself.
Israel of her flesh whoredom in flesh
will be destroyed
- Eventually, war, hatred and famine will end, and an era of peace and
prosperity will come upon the Earth.
and Jesus the Christ wil Rule with his
saints from SION with a rod of IRON
The traditional Jewish understanding of the messiah is non-supernatural, and
is best elucidated by Maimonides
(Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon), in his commentary to tractate Sanhedrin, of the
Babylonian Talmud.
He writes:
son of the shemagogue of satan
"The Messianic age is when the Jews will regain their independence and
all return to the land of Israel. The Moshiach will be a very great king, he
will achieve great fame, and his reputation among the gentile nations will be
even greater than that of King Solomon. His great righteousness and the wonders
that he will bring about will cause all peoples to make peace with him and all
lands to serve him.... Nothing will change in the Messianic age, however, except
that Jews will regain their independence. Rich and poor, strong and weak, will
still exist. However it will be very easy for people to make a living, and with
very little effort they will be able to accomplish very much.... it will be a
time when the number of wise men will increase...war shall not exist, and nation
shall no longer lift up sword against nation.... The Messianic age will be
highlighted by a community of the righteous and dominated by goodness and
wisdom. It will be ruled by the Messiah, a righteous and honest king,
outstanding in wisdom, and close to God. Do not think that the ways of the world
or the laws of nature will change, this is not true. The world will continue as
it is. The prophet Isaiah predicted "The wolf shall live with the sheep,
the leopard shall lie down with the kid." This, however, is merely
allegory, meaning that the Jews will live safely, even with the formerly wicked
nations. All nations will return to the true religion [monotheism, although not
necessarily Judaism] and will no longer steal or oppress. Note that all
prophecies regarding the Messiah are allegorical - Only in the Messianic age
will we know the meaning of each allegory and what it comes to teach us. Our
sages and prophets did not long for the Messianic age in order that they might
rule the world and dominate the gentiles....the only thing they wanted was to be
free for Jews to involve themselves with the Torah and its wisdom."
and then they are cast into outer
darkness by Christ Jesus whom they crucified and all their Proselytes.
This principle is accepted by Orthodox
Jews. Conservative
Jews vary in their beliefs, some affirming a personal messiah, while others
affirm a messianic era. "We do not know when the Messiah will come, nor
whether he will be a charismatic human figure or is a symbol of the redemption
of humankind from the evils of the world. Through the doctrine of a Messianic
figure, Judaism teaches us that every individual human being must live as if he
or she, individually, has the responsibility to bring about the messianic age.
Beyond that, we echo the words of Maimonides based on the prophet Habakkuk (2:3)
that though he may tarry, yet do we wait for him each day..." [Emet
ve-Emunah: Statement of Principles of Conservative Judaism]
Sorry he has been here, offered you
salvation, you rejected it, then you Crucified him, and now wait on one of yours
who will come in his OWN Name. Many will come from the east and the west and sit
with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob while yourselves are cast out of the KingDOM
Reform
Jews generally concur with this latter position; they are more likely to
believe in a messianic era than a personal messiah. Reconstructionist
Jews reject the idea that God can send a personal messiah or bring about a
messianic age, but they do teach that man can use the power or process termed
God to help bring about such a world.
The afterlife and olam
haba (the world
to come)
aka...New World order.....Hoodlum hoo ha
Many secular or liberal Jews would state that Judaism does not believe in an
afterlife, or that it is a this-worldly religion which concentrates on the here
and now. While it is certainly true that Judaism does concentrate on the
importance of this world, (Flesh) the fact is
that much (not all) of classical Judaism does posit an afterlife. Much of the
Jewish tradition affirms that the human soul is immortal, (gods)
and thus in some way survives the physical death of the body. The existence of
the soul after death is described with terms such as Olam
Haba (the world to
come), Gan Eden (the Heavenly Garden
of Eden, or Paradise) and Gehenna
(Purgatory).
Classical rabbinic afterlife teachings varied in different places and times; they
were never synthesized into one coherent philosophy. As such, the
different Jewish views of the afterlife are sometimes contradictory. This is
especially true for "Olam
Haba", the world
to come. In some rabbinic works this phrase refers to the messianic
era,
Moshiach error....hoodlum haba of the son of perdition
a physical realm right here on Earth. However, in other works this
phrase means Gan Eden, Paradise, a purely spiritual realm.
There is much rabbinic material on what happens to the soul
of the deceased after death, what it experiences, and where it goes. At various
points in the afterlife journey, the soul is said to encounter: Hibbut ha-kever,
the pains of the grave; Dumah, the angel
of silence; The angel of death; The Kaf ha-Kela, the catapult of the soul; Gehenna
(purgatory); and Gan Eden (Heaven;
Paradise).
Gehenna is fairly well defined in rabbinic literature. It is sometimes
translated as "hell",
but one should note that the Christian view of hell is different from the Jewish
view. For Christians, hell is an abode of eternal torment where sinners go; any
person who does not accept Jesus as their messiah is defined by most Christian
sects as someone destined for eternal damnation. In Judaism, gehenna - while
certainly a terribly unpleasant place - is not hell.
The overwhelming majority of rabbinic thought maintains that people are not
tortured in hell forever; the longest that one can be there is said to be 12
months.
justification of their tetragrammaton
god...satan
Some consider it a spiritual forge where the soul is purified for its
eventual ascent to Gan Eden [Heaven], where all imperfections are purged.
Reincarnation
The notion of reincarnation,
the transmigration of a soul after death into a new body, is not explicitly
mentioned in the Bible. The classical rabbinic works (midrash, Mishna and
Talmud) also are silent on this topic. These beliefs originally only existed in
a few gentile sects; however, by the eighth century these ideas had found their
way into the beliefs of the Ananites,
an offshoot of Judaism which later became a separate form of Judaism. In the
tenth century, the Jewish medieval philosopher Saadia
Gaon (in Emunoth
ve-Deoth) notes that the belief of reincarnation existed among some Jews
despite the inherent "nonsense and stupidities" of such beliefs. Maimonides
also did not write about reincarnation.
Although how this occurred is still a matter of debate among Jewish
historians, the doctrine of reincarnation made its way into the mainstream of
Jewish mysticism by the twelth century, where it made its first appearance in a
mystical work called the Bahir
(Illumination), around 1150
AD. From this point on the idea of reincarnation became increasingly popular
among Jews who hewed to the Kabbalah.
The idea of reincarnation, called gilgul, became very popular in
folk belief, and is found in much Yiddish
literature among Ashkenazi
Jews. Among a few kabbalists, it was posited that some human souls could end up
being reincarnated into animal bodies. These ideas can be found in a small
number of Kabbalistic works from the 1200s, and even existed among a few mystics
at least into the late 1500s.
"Over time however, the philosophical teaching limiting reincarnation to
human bodies emerged as the dominant view. Nonetheless, the idea that one can
reborn as an animal was never completely eliminated from Jewish thought, and
appears centuries later in the Eastern European folk tradition". [Simcha
Paull-Raphael,Jewish Views of the Afterlife, p.319]
While many Jews today do not believe in reincarnation, the belief is common
amongst Orthodox
Jews, particularly amongst Hasidim;
some Hasidic siddurim
(prayerbooks) have a prayer asking for forgiveness for one's sins that one may
have committed in this gilgul or a previous one.

The English word messiah
derives from the Hebrew term Moshiach,
meaning The Annointed One.
a deception of satan. Messiah is Greek
for Christ
Moshiach is hebrew for anointed man king
two whole different things. They who are
in spirit deny the flesh and they who deny the spirit cling to their damned
corruption
This refers to the ancient
custom of annointing the head of a king with oil on his accession. Moshiach
is the one who will be king at the "end of days", a time to come, when
the whole world will follow G-d's rule and there will be peace and harmony.
When they have
"REVEALED their son of Perdition he will destroy wonderfully via Universal
Noahide Laws of the Dragon
In Jewish thought the term Moshiach
has a meaning and significance which is quite different from the commonly
understood Christian usage of the word Messiah.
Yes for they Cried out "Let his
blood be on our hands and our children's" and Until they say, "Blessed
is HE who comes in the Name of the LORD, their House is left desolate.
There is no idea of Moshiach
being an earthly incarnation of G-d or of being in any other way divine, no idea
of him being a saviour, no concept of redemption through suffering.
Thus they
continue their blasphemy and will not repent of their talmudic sorceries and
craft and death and murder and thefts
Moshiach,
in the Jewish view, will be a normal human (we are ALL sons or daughters of
G-d).
they are all shemgods with no corruption
they say
He will be a charismatic
political and military leader,
From Nam ?
a man of great learning and
wisdom, well versed in Torah and Jewish Law.
Skull and Bones?
He will be a great judge
who will make righteous decisions. He will be descended from King David (he is
often referred to as Moshiach
ben Dovid - Moshiach
son of David).
The coming of Moshiach
is not mentioned in Torah. The concept seems to have been introduced to Jewish
thought during the time of the prophets.
Prophets of
Baa'l
When Moshiach
comes he will establish the Olam
HaBa, The World
to Come. The Olam HaBa
will be characterised by:
- The restoration of temple worship in
Jerusalem
- Spiritual and political freedom for the
Jewish people
- All the peoples of the world recognizing
G-d as the only G-d
satan
- Peaceful coexistence of all people and an
end to war and hatred
By Peace and
"SAY"kurity Universal Noahide laws he will destroy wonderfully
- The return of Jewish exiles to Israel
Whilst the prophets predicted
the coming of Moshiach
and the establishment of Olam
HaBa, they did not
specify clearly when he would come. There are 2 basic views about when Moshiach
will come:
The key to recognising Moshiach
is the establishment of Olam HaBa.
There have been many claimed messiahs but, since we patently do not live in Olam
HaBa, none of them
can have been him.
Although a belief in the coming
of Moshiach is one of The
Rambam's 13
principles, and is a key feature of the beliefs of many Jews (especially
ultra orthodox Jews), for many Jews, Moshiach
is seen as being of little consequence or importance, a nice idea and no more.

The WEST Bank Pull-Out
hahahahhahahheeeeeehoooooey !
- Sharon OKs Hundreds Of
New West Bank Homes
8-9-4
-
-
- JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israel was on collision course with its
US ally again after it approved the construction of hundreds of new houses
in one of the largest and most controversial of the West Bank settlements.
-
- I've got some ocean front property........
-
- Just days after the government was reprimanded
over plans for 600 new homes in the largest of the
Jewish settlements, Maale Adumin, news emerged that Defense Minister Shaul
Mofaz had signed permits for the construction of the housing units on the
western fringes of Ariel.
-
- The Maariv daily reported that the go-ahead for 300 houses,
which would be in contravention of the US-backed roadmap for peace plan, was
agreed three months ago.
-
- Road Map to ISREALHELL
-
- But tenders had not yet been issued due to "diplomatic
considerations".
-
- A government source confirmed that the project had been
approved but said the green light was given around six months ago, adding
that it would involve nearer 200 than 300 houses.
-
- Ariel mayor Ron Nachman told AFP the new tranche formed
part of a wider "development plan" for 2,000 homes that was given
the go-ahead several years ago.
-
- Ariel, home to around 18,000 residents, lies some 12 miles
(20 kilometers) to the east of the internationally-recognised boundary
between Israel and the West Bank, the so-called Green Line.
-
- Under the terms of the roadmap, Israel is obliged to freeze
all settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories.
-
- But not under the terms of the "WAR on
Terrorism" against the anti-shemgods
-
- But news of the expansion plans for Ariel follows
confirmation by the government last week that 600 homes had been approved
for Maale Adumin which lies just outside Jerusalem.
-
- That announcement prompted the US State Department to
tersely remind Israel that "the roadmap calls for an end to all
settlement activities, including natural growth", a point taken up by
visiting White House envoy Elliott Abrams in talks with Prime Minister Ariel
Sharon last Thursday.
-
- The Israeli anti-settlement watchdog Peace Now charged that
Mofaz and Sharon "were acting like thieves in the night" and
damaging the special relationship with the United States.
-
-
- No they are not the thief in the
night, they have no clue who he is, but very soon they will understand on
that great and terrible Day
-
- "The construction of hundreds of new housing blocks
east of the Green Line is a death blow to the solution of two states for two
people," it said.
-
-
- yeah right ONE state for the
shemmygods
-
- The peace blueprint, which aims for the creation of a
Palestinian state in 2005 living in peace and security next to Israel, has
made next to no progress since it was endorsed in June last year.
-
-
- when the Command went forth to finish the
WALL and the Street, the deception
-
- Although top-level Israeli-Palestinian contacts have been
frozen for nearly 12 months, security officials were expected to meet Sunday
in a bid to finalise an agreement on arming Palestinian security forces in
the West Bank.
-
- But the talks were postponed, Palestinian negotiations
minister Saeb Erakat told AFP, without giving a reason for the delay.
-
- "This meeting should now, I hope, take place
tomorrow."
-
- The West Bank has been gripped by growing lawlessness in
recent weeks, including kidnappings and arson attacks on government
buildings.
-
- CIA-Mosad
-
- But while the Palestinian Authority has vowed to restore
law and order, its room for maneuver is limited as Israel retains security
responsibility for nearly all of the territory, banning Palestinian police
from strapping on weapons.
-
- Police without weapons...getouttahere
-
- The Israeli army's chief of staff, General Moshe Yaalon,
said while he supported the idea of allowing the security forces to be
armed, any such move had to be taken in coordination between both sides.
-
- "In the West Bank where we operate, we have trouble
distinguishing between police and terrorists and therefore we must
coordinate our actions with the Palestinian Authority," he told public
radio.
-
- Sharon told Sunday's cabinet that Israel would decide on
which Palestinian police would have the right to bear weapons, adding they
would be restricted to carrying handguns.
-
- Only obedient ger Toshav's Goyim Noahides
-
- Hassan Abu Libdeh, chief aide to Palestinian premier Ahmed
Qorei, said the Israelis had to take a large slice of blame for the security
chaos.
-
- "I hope that this meeting will be a success and that
there will be agreements on steps on the ground to protect and safeguard
security in the Palestinian areas," he added.
-
- Meanwhile, Palestinian justice minister Nahed al-Rais said
he was waiting for a response from Qorei after he submitted his resignation
on Saturday.
-
- Rais has demanded greater control over the public
prosecutor and courts administration, offices which have to date been
effectively controlled by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat .
-
- "Mr Qorei has asked me to be patient, to wait for a
short time and after that we'll see," he said.

Satan's attack Grows against the
Everlasting Holy Covenant and his Saints
- New 'Youth Bible' A
Tale Of Sex & Masturbation
By Elizabeth Day
The Telegraph - UK
8-7-4
-
-
- Sex is "fulfilling," masturbation is
"difficult to resist" and Mary Magdalene "had something of a
dodgy past". A new "youth Bible" which talks frankly about
pornography and lust has been condemned by traditionalists for "dumbing
down the message of salvation".
-
- The Contemporary English Version Youth Bible, jointly
published by The Bible Society and Collins - which also publishes more
traditional versions of The Bible - is written in modern idiom and includes
a number of extra passages penned by contemporary authors on "youth
issues".
-
- The passage on pornography advises teenagers "to avoid
the top shelf of the newsagents, [and] pray as you surf [the
internet]". A section on masturbation cites St Paul's exhortation in
Thessalonians not to be "a slave of your desires", but admits that
"it can provide a release".
-
- Exam anxiety can be dealt with by "praying for a bit
of calm and a good memory!" while adolescents confused by their
sexuality are reminded that "today's world is a sexual free
market".
-
- Young people are also told to look at the parable of Jesus
turning water into wine in the context of first-century Palestine.
"Riding a donkey after a drink was less dangerous than drinking and
driving today," it says. "Jesus made up to 160 gallons of wine at
Cana, but would he have made anything that would intoxicate or bring harm to
anyone?"
-
- The updated version has caused consternation among
traditionalists, who argue that the Bible should not be tampered with. The
Rev John Roberts, the general secretary of the Lord's Day Observance
Society, said that the Bible should fight the increasing secularism of
society, rather than embrace it.
-
- "Our society has never been so open so you don't need
to use the Bible to teach people about these things," Mr Roberts said.
"The Bible is a book that one shouldn't denigrate with this kind of
sleazy language. This is gimmicky, and it is a real worry.
-
- "We need to be very careful we don't lose all concept
of what the Bible is about by trying to make God 'pally'. He is not pally,
He is too great to be brought down to our level."
-
- John Medlin, the development manager of the Latin Mass
Society, a Catholic society that strives for authentic worship, claimed that
the traditionalist wing of the Roman Catholic Church was growing worldwide
precisely because it did not offer this sort of "watered-down
faith".
-
- "Traditionalist Catholics have very little interest in
such material and do not see the point of it," he said. "The
fullness of the message of salvation is contained in the Bible for believing
Christians, and I see no point in attempting either to add to it or to dumb
it down for a contemporary audience that is desperately seeking
transcendence. It is patronising. It speaks of a certain lack of morals in
the persons producing these sort of dumbed-down Bibles. What we need to do
is to offer it whole and untouched to youngsters in their contemporary
world. They are desperately searching for someone to offer them a goal
towards which to strive." The Contemporary English Version Youth Bible,
edited by Nick Page, a Christian journalist and author, will cost £15.99.
-
- A spokesman for Collins said that the Bible "had
changed with the times". "Sex, addiction, eating disorders,
masturbation, bullying - most kids have to deal with this and if a modern
Youth Bible is to remain a truthful guide to how to live a Christian life,
it just can't duck them," she said.
-
- "Shame, confusion, embarrassment can't have a part in
what we set out if we are to be credible at helping young people get more
out of the Bible - and their lives."
-
- The Bible Society is dedicated to making the Bible
accessible to people across the world. It is supported by donations from
churches of different denominations including the Church of England.
-
- Philip Poole, the deputy chief executive of The Bible
Society, said the society "supports the way Collins is helping young
people understand how the Bible can speak into their lives today".

More Goyim decapitation
coming in IRAQ
- Iraq Set To Use Martial
Law In Terror Fight
By Donald Macintyre
The Independent - UK
8-7-4
-
-
- BAGHDAD -- The interim Iraqi government last night looked
increasingly prepared to impose martial law on sections of the country as
coalition and Iraqi forces fought fierce battles with armed insurgents loyal
to the radical Shia cleric Muqtada Sadr.
-
- There were strong hints that Iyad Allawi, the interim Prime
Minister, could for the first time apply his emergency powers when he
announces plans for tackling the spreading insurgency tomorrow.
-
- An American UH-1 helicopter crash-landed after being hit in
the holy Shia city of Najaf during fighting that Falah al-Nakib, Iraq's
Interior Minister, said yesterday had claimed the lives of eight insurgents.
Iraqi medics said seven civilians were killed.
-
- Mr Nakib told a swiftly convened news conference yesterday
that he and Mr Allawi had taken "the necessary decisions to confront
these challenges" and charged that the fresh uprising in Najaf and
Wednesday's fighting in Mosul, in the north, were part of an "organised
plan to dismember Iraq and kill the Iraqi people... All of these terrorists
and killers are working for the same organisation regardless of which
banners they carry or which hats they wear".
-
- The hints followed a declaration in yesterday's Iraqi
mediaby Sheikh Ghazi al-Yawar, the interim President, that "it is the
time to use the new national safety law" to protect the country against
insurgents. The battles in Najaf, the worst since a conditional truce two
months ago, ended several weeks of fighting between Sadr and US forces, and
triggered further violence when gunmen took control of parts of the Shia
Baghdad suburb of Sadr City and wounded seven US soldiers.
-
- In the south of the country, British soldiers were said by
a spokesman for Sadr's forces to have killed one insurgent and injured three
after they ambushed an Army patrol.
-
- In Amarah, in the British military zone, insurgents fired
at government buildings after Mehdi Army leaders appealed through mosque
loudspeakers for its members to mobilise.
-
- Mr Nakib and a senior US officer were adamant yesterday
that the fighting in Najaf had started because Mehdi Army insurgents had
attacked a police station in the city with mortars, rocket-propelled
grenades and gunfire. The US military source said that Iraqi forces had
called in US forces after repelling two attacks by the insurgents.
-
- While Mr Nakib said Iraqi forces were ready to arrest
"all criminals including him [Sadr]", the senior US officer here
said its forces had not been pursuing the detention of Sadr, wanted in
connection with the killing of a rival Shia cleric. The US military has
denied that it deliberately surrounded Sadr's house during engagements on
Tuesday.
-
- Striking a bellicose note, Mr Nakib said the Iraqi police
and supporting forces had gained "glorious victories" in the
continuing fighting, and blamed Iraq's neighbours for fuelling the
insurgency. He said Lebanese and Iranians were among those captured. He also
criticised Arab television networks for their coverage of the insurgency. Mr
Nakib said the transmission of hostage-takers' videos depicted Iraqis to the
world as "savages".
-
- There have been hints from Mr Allawi's allies that
censorship could be imposed and even threats to close down al-Jazeera's
Baghdad bureau unless its coverage is changed. Later, a spokesman for Mr
Sadr said the cleric wanted to restore his truce.
-
- * The Ministry of Defence said last night that a British
soldier died in Iraq. Pte Christopher Gordon Rayment, 22, who was serving
with the 1st Battalion, The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment, died
yesterday in "a tragic accident" at Amarah.

A Word to the Benei Noah
Hanuka is a holiday that the Benei Noah [Bnai Noahide] can also celebrate.
For this is
an occasion of celebrating the victory of Torah over paganism. Benei Noah can
set up
for themselves menorahs and light candles every night. However, they may not
recite
the blessings reserved for this lighting. The first blessing includes the
word "vitzivanu"
(who has commanded us). No Benei Noah can say this, for G-d never commended
them to do light the menorah. The second blessing includes the words "Sh’asah
Nisim
L’Avoteynu" (who did miracles for our fathers). The miracle was not
done for the fathers
of the Benei Noah; therefore, they cannot honestly say these words. Thus the
Benei
Noah should join Israel in celebrating this joyous victory, for it is their
victory as well as
ours. However, they may not recite the traditional blessings. Rather, they
can simply
thank G-d in their own words for His bringing them to know the truth of His
Torah.

WHY,
the wars of the shemgods,
"War on Terrorism"
the making of obedient
Goyim Noahides
Terrorism What about War
of Terrorism?
(Losely defined as deliberately
targeting civilians above and beyond collateral damage).
Is is assur for a Jew to engage in terrorism. What can be
done to fight against it? This is a halachically difficult construct -- b/c
it's not fully like a rodef situation, and also not fully like a war
situation. Here are six interesting issues regarding the war
against terrorism:
1. Rescue missions (e.g., hostages): this exposes
participants to great danger, and is not required (but is permitted) under law
of rodef
2. Ransom of prisoner exchanges -- i.e., can one release
terrorists to get our prisoners back? a. R Ovadia Yosef rules yes b. majority
of poskim rule no, because i. releasing them encourages more hostage taking in
future; and ii. releasing terrorists causes danger, because they can fight us
tomorrow RYB: there would seem to be a Mishna that directly supports the
majority of poskim: that in pidyon shvuyim, we do not pay excessive
ransom
3. Deportation of terrorists -- halacha seems to permit.
Rambam might require, however, kriat shalom first -- that is, that they can't
be deported if they accept sovereignty of Israel first _and_
accept 7 Noahide laws,
which would mean that they must reject terrorism.
They must obediently bow down in
humiliation and submission unto the gods
4. Blowing up houses Note: an _object_ can be a rodef.
Certainly if one can kill a person, one can destroy an object, and/or
property. 5. More interesting question: is financial compensation required?
Halacha, generally, is: if a victim destroys property to save himself (e.g.,
you're in a hotel, someone is attacking you, and you pick up a vase owned by
the hotel and smash it over the attacker's head), he must pay (he has to
reimburse hotel the cost of the vase). If a 3rd party does it (smash the vase
over attacker's head to save someone else) the 3rd part does _not_ have to
pay.
But yet "Amaraka" pays for
the proxy wars of the shemgods of shame in their coveted Babylon
(Theory behind this: requirement of financial
compensation might deter a third party from saving someone; whereas a potential
victim will try to save himself and not think about the cost).
So, when IDF moves in, are they are third party -- i.e., are
they acting on behalf of the population? -- in which case they do not have to
pay;
what about Amaraka...ISREALHELL?
or is the IDF part of the threatened class (e.g., like
Jenin) in which case they would have to pay. (No answer given). Rambam: the
above applies if the property (like the vase) is not the source _itself_ of
the endangerment. But sometimes the property _is_ the source of the
endangerment, in which case no reimbursement is required. Hypothetical: if
there is too much luggage on a boat, which will cause boat to sink, one can
throw a suitcase overboard to save everyone. Here, the suitcase is the rodef.
Don't have to reimburse. Ra'avad, btw, disagrees, asking the question: why is
_this_ suitcase the rodef, as opposed to everyone else's suitcase. So, if a
home is used to make a terrorist (however one might want to define that), the
_house_ can be considered a rodef, and no payment is needed. (Extrapolating
from RYB's comments, it seems that if a house is a terrorist hideout, the
house would be a rodef).
6. Collective Punishment: can
not kill the family of a terrorist -- halacha forbids it unless it is
collateral damage (if they are non-combatants). One can not deliberately
single out non-combatants.
Collective punishment might be
valid, but not if the collective punishment involves killing. RYB: For
example Dresden, Hiroshima (even if one accepts the premise that it saved tons
of lives and shortened the way) seem to be against halacha. There were great
questions from the audience, unfortunately I didn't write many down. 1. What
about destroying olive trees? On one hand it violates baal tashchit, on the
other hand, if a terrorist is shooting from behind the trees, one can view the
trees as a rodef. 2. Can there be a milchemet mitzvah today? Yes. While it is
true we need a "melech" in order to declare one, Rav Kook and others
say that a Jewish government is enough. ======= For those who don't know Rabbi
Yitzchok Breitowitz: he is (I think) the Av Beis Din of DC, Smicha from Ner
Israel; another degree from Johns Hopkins and from Harvard Law School;
Doctorate in Talmudic Law from Ner Israel. He's the rabbi at Woodside
synagogue, he's also a law professor at U. Maryland. He's an expert on
subjects ranging from US bankruptcy and commercial law, to the Agunah, to
Cloning, and Jewish medical ethics. He spoke from the bima of a Conservative
shul. The host (C) rabbi, who introduced him, also closed by offering the
bracha one gives upon seeing a talmud chocham.

How Judeo-Churchi-insanity
has been swallowed whole by the fables of the jewshemborg collective, the
Communist Communitarian Unioversal World Relgion to Satan

Rabbinic Judaism and Interreligious Coexistence
by Rabbi David Rosen
While Judaism is the particular religious way of life of a particular people
born out of particular historical experiences, its purpose
and aspiration is universal.
Abraham himself is told to "be a blessing" (Genesis ch. 12 v.2) and
that through him and his seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.
Because by faith he believed the WORD of
God and was counted unto Righteousness, the Word which in the Beginning was with
God, the WORD which was and is God and the very same Word which was manifest in
the flesh and came according to the Promise of Everlasting Salvation, Jesus the
Christ. Only these are the seed of Abraham, by faith according to that Promise.
The flesh Israel has no share in the Kingdom of GOD, therefore all they want is
their flesh godhood overmankind, and their flesh king, of their flesh mammon and
the god of flesh the dragon.
The Covenant with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and their descendants is
ratified at Sinai where the children of Israel are called to be a Kingdom of
Priests and a Holy Nation (Exodus ch. 19 v.6).
Who were chosen for Salvation, and when
the Savior of the Prophets came, they instead "Chose" the Robber, and
Crucified the Savior. And they Broke all the Covenants of God, and are become a
cursed nation. Jesus the Christ is the Light unto the gentiles who believe, and
are a Royal Priesthood a Chosen generation and a Perculiar people unto God and
his Father
This mandate to sanctify God's Name (Leviticus ch.22 v.32) is perceived
within Biblical Tradition in two ways; through the very existence of the
children of Israel in history as testimony to the Divine Presence (Isaiah ch. 43
v.10, Ezekiel ch.36 v.23) and through the commitment to the way of life and
precepts, revealed in the Pentateuch.
These sons of satan chasidim jews who
reject the Word of God, for their Oral tradition, in no way believes the WORD,
they only use it when convenient to deceive the Judeo-Churchinsanities of the
leaven of the Pharisees.
The ultimate goal for this world that the Jewish people is to help bring
about accordingly, is a society in which all men and women
live in keeping with the Divine Will, in justice, righteousness and peace, i.e.
- the Messianic ideal (Isaiah ch. 11 v. 9, 10).
has nothing to do with the Creator Jesus
the Christ the WORD of God, but they have transformed darkness into light and
deceive mankind in their new fantastic scheme of their invocation of the son of
satan their mere man flesh king moshiach whom they will have to be the king over
them. What do they want in God for KING...absolutely nothing and they will be
damned in eternal damnation in outer darkness. Are you a Jew who has erred for
your leaders lies? They who rejected the Lord and teach you to forfeit eternal
salvation? REPENT in Christ Jesus, for very soon that whore of Babylon will be
destroyed.
This vision it should be pointed out, is not a denationalized one, but an
international vision, in which "many peoples shall go and say let us go up
to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob and He will teach
us His ways and we will walk in His Paths."…"nation shall not lift
up sword against nation and they shall not learn war
any more" (Isaiah ch. 2 v. 3-4).
After that Great and Terrible
day of the Lamb's wrath. They will NOT have their global Communism of death and
Hell. EVER, Never and all who think they will are doomed to eternal death and
HELL in Jesus the Christ Mighty Name.
In other words, the vision is not of a society in which everyone is Jewish
(see also Zecharia ch. 14 v. 16), but rather a society in which while there is
shared recognition of the Divine Presence and the ethical values that flow there
from, particular identities, loyalties and traditions remain, born out of
different cultural and historical factors.
Obedient Goyim Cattle enslaved yoked to
their Assyrian Noahide Laws of Satan
Indeed Judaism teaches that all humankind is "called",
"commanded", from the outset, to live such righteous lives. Jewish
tradition understands all Humankind as "covenanted" with God through
the Covenant with the Children of Noah made after the flood.
ALL MANKIND is Corrupt since ADAM. But
these shem gods needed to create another seedline after RIGHTEOUS ABEL was slain
by the progenitor of ALL corruption, so they could exempt themselves and be as
gods. They want you too to reject the PURE Cleansing Blood of the Lamb of GOD
sent By Grace to as many as would believe by faith, Jesus the Christ, so that
Satan may snare you also. There is ONLY One Gate in which to become cleansed,
and that is the redeeming PURE Blood of GOD and His Father, by faith in the
Promise Jesus the LORD and the Savior of them who believe. If your Pastor,
rabbi, priest tells you otherwise, these are dead dogs who cannot bark....flee
and REPENT in Jesus the Christ the LORD of LORDS and the KING of KINGS. Jews in
ISREALHELL REPENT in the CREATOR Jesus the Christ NOW for your souls are in
Jeopardy.
(Genesis ch. 9 v. 9) The Tradition understands the demands of this
covenant to consist of seven commandments - the quintessence of universal
morality.
You will either conform to the shemgods
laws in which they will become the enslavers of mankind as a goyim cattle
without freewill, Or you will choose your free will and stand firm in
Testimony of the Creator, Jesus the Word of God and they by their laws will slay
you by DECAPITATION
These are the prohibitions against murder, idolatry, theft, incest,
blasphemy, dismembering of any living animal and the command to establish courts
of justice (Bereshit Rabbah 34,8). One who lives in accordance with the demands
of the Noahide Covenant
is not only perceived as a righteous gentile (who merits the World to Come) but
under the rule of Jewish Law enjoys status of "ger toshav", the
resident gentile who is entitled to all civil rights as well as obligations of
the society (Maimonides, Issurei Biah ch. 14 hal. 7, Melachim ch. 10 hal.12).
And since the United States is now under
Jew-risdiction of the Talmudic ISREALHELL sine 1991 made Law by the United
States Congress and the President of the United States George H.W. Bush, either
you become an obedient humiliated and submissive Ger Toshav of the Master Race
shemgods, or by their Laws, stated Sanhedrin 57a. of their Babylonian Talmud,
you will be purged from their Red Esau Communistic Communitarian socialist
Talmudic Judaic regime, by decapitation.
Nevertheless for the first millennium and half of Jewish history, gentile
acceptance of Noahide
standards was seen as exceptional. Society at large in the world was perceived
as idolatrous and corrupt, pagan and degenerate.
All mankind is corrupt. NOT one is
RIGHTEOUS, But the ONLY RIGHTEOUS, who is Christ Jesus, whom the Father sent to
offer mankind Salvation by his PURE Blood untainted by mankind, but sent by the
HOLY Spirit untoa Virgin Mary. This is the ONLY way that your corruption can be
cleansed, By faith in the ONE seed before Abraham, the IAM who is the IMAGE
which hath created man. This is the ONLY way that you can be restored to the
SEED of GOD. Do not fall for the leaven of these chasidim Pharisees, who are the
very same who crucified the SON of GOD who wanted to rob his In heritance and be
the gods over mankind, for this is a snare of the serpent into Damnation. BEWARE
you who are IN JUDEA.
Early Christianity did not change that Jewish perception. Originally seen as
a sectary, the emergence of the Holy Roman Empire, the crystallization of its
theology and its hostility towards the Jewish people, enabled Judaism to view
early Christianity as just a new version of pagan power. Even the
acknowledgement of fundamental positive aspects in Christianity, as on the part
of Yehudah Halevi and Maimonides, did not mitigate that basic perception.
Theologically, Judaism viewed Islam more positively. (Maimonides Resp. 448).
they seek to snare the unlearned in the WORD of GOD
Yet in Christian lands Jewish scholars occasionally grappled with what
appeared to them to be the contradictions between the ethical monotheism of
Christianity that taught principles of Providence, Revelation, Reward and
Punishment on the one hand; and on the other, those doctrines, as well as the
use of effigies, that were perceived as idolatrous.
The Judeo-Churchi-zionians who say their god is that god of the jews, that
YWVH their tetragrammaton, but who has NO ONly Begotten SON, forfeit the SON for
if they do not have the SON they have not his Father and the Father only shows
them in faith the SON and that Father is not the Father of the JEWS for they
deny the SON. So the Judeo-Churchizionians who say their father is the father of
the jews, also say they have two other gods, by terrible error. For Jesus the
Christ the WORD of GOD was with GOD at the Beginning and the WORD is GOD and the
WORD was sent in the flesh the carnate IMAGE of GOD in which he created mankind.
THERE IS ONE GOD, and that GOD if Jesus the Christ and his invisible Father, who
made himself into flesh, Jesus the Christ and NO other.
If you stand firm for this LORD they
seek to slay you, but if you are an apostate Judeo-Churchinsanity who truly
denies the Father and the SON, they will readily accept you as a ger toshav
righteous Noahide to accept their Moshaich the SON of Perdition sent by their
god, who is not the creator, but the satan, that old dragon. The Judeo-Churchizionians
in their worship of the creatures who say they are as gods, will readily accept
this false Christ, for they have all reeady denied the TRUTH, and God has sent
them Strong delusions so that they believe the lie. Alas it is not TOO late to
repent this Blaspemy and call ON the ONLY Begotten SON of GOD and HIS Father in
Heaven the ONLY LORD ALMIGHTY Jesus the Christ. Flee from these sons of satan's
shemagogues and their tetragrammaton evil and bloodlust god.
While the noted Rabbi Menachem HaMeiri of Perpignan (13-14th centuries)
seemed to have had no such difficulty and taught that both Christians as well as
Muslims should be viewed in the category of "nations bound by the ways of
religion", there was a predominant perception of Christianity as
"flawed monotheism". This was defined in the term "shittuf",
literally, "partnership", or
"association" of an additional power with God Himself.
There is ONE GOD TRINITARIANS
OF SATAN
However, the pragmatic position emerged that while "shittuf" would
compromise Mosaic monotheism and was thus prohibited to Jews, it was not
incompatible with the Noahide
prohibitions and thus Christians were not actual idolaters.
as long as they DID NOT BELIEVE that
JESUS is the ONLY IAM, satan will allow them in his temporary little Hoodlum
haha. Judeo-Churchizionians HEAR THE WORD OF GOD AND REPENT in the NAME above
all names. SEE who has bewitched YOU, the Leaven of the Pharisees these
chasidim and their zionist wolves in sheeps clothing preaching a doctrine of
devils. WAKE UP time is very LATE !!!!!
(Tosafot Sanhedrin 63b and Bechorot 2b) (This position was bolstered by
reference to the statement in the Talmud, tractate Chullin 13b, that excludes
all gentiles outside the land of Israel from the category of idolaters). Yet the
positive attitude of the Meiri frequently found its echo amongst Ashkenazi
luminaries, well before the effects of Emancipation and the
Enlightenment. Notable amongst them, the Be'er HaGolah, (R. Moshe Rivkes) in the
early 17th century and in the 18th century, the Chavot Yair (R. Yair Bachrach)
and the Noda BiYehudah (R. Yechezkel Landau).
Instructive in this regard are the words of the Be'er HaGolah, Rabbi Moshe
Rivkes, on the Shulchan Aruch, Choshen Mishpat, sect. 425: - "The peoples
in whose shade we, the people of Israel, take refuge and amongst whom we are
dispersed, do believe in the Creation and the Exodus and in the main principles
of religion and their whole intent is to serve the Maker of Heaven and Earth as
the codifiers wrote and is thus stated by Rabbi Moshe Isserlis in Orach Chayim,
section 156. We are obliged to save them from danger and are even commanded to
pray for their welfare, as Rabbi Eliezer Ashkenazi the author of Ma'aseh Hashem
explained in his commentary on the Haggadah on the verse "pour out thy
wrath..."
Rabbi Rivkes' reference to Christians sharing with Jews not only belief in
the God of Creation but also belief in the same God as God of the Exodus,
implies a factor emphasized by others subsequently; namely, shared religious
history and Scriptures. What is recognized here accordingly is the special
relationship and metier between those who share the Hebrew Bible and its
history.
The Lamb prepared and slain since the
beginning of the world, the IAM the Alpha and the OMEGA the FIRS and the LAST
the LORD God and HIS Father the IAM the WORD which was made flesh the Lamb which
he himself Promised, the VERY SAME GOD, Immanuel, who was with ADAM, and Noah
and MOSES, the IAM was REPLACED by them who denied the SON sent by another god,
who is not a god, but is SATAN the ROBBER their Tetragrammaton angel of
ILLUMINATION whom they Chose when they Crucified the Savior. Even today they
seek land and sea and seek out their Proselytes and when they find them, they
make them twice the children of hell as themselves. These are they WHO say they
have the god of the jews this YWVH who has no SON and they deny too the Father
and the SON who is IN HEAVEN.
On the basis of the position of the Meiri (Bet Habehirah, Bava Kama, 113b)
recognizing both Muslims and Christians as monotheistic believers bound by the
minimal moral code, the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi in Israel, Rabbi Avraham
Yitzchak HaCohen Kuk ruled (Iggeret 89; Mishpat-Cohen 63) that
Muslims and Christians living in a predominant Jewish society must be treated as
gerim toshavim, i.e., with full civil liberties, just as Jews. (Similarly,
the First Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel, Rabbi I.H. Herzog -
"The Rights of Minorities according to Halacha" Tchumin 2, 5741).
BUT if not, and they STAND FIRM for the
Testimony of the SON the IAM they are to be stripped in this United States of
greater ISREALHELL the jewrisdiction of the jews by House Joint resolution
104-Public law 102-14....,.very soon.........
However as indicated at the outset, ideal Jewish religious conduct is
predicated on more than the legal protection and civil rights guaranteed to
Noahides, gerim toshavim.
Maimonides makes this clear in his legal magnum opus, Yad Hachazakah, Hilchot
Melachim ch. 10 halacha 12. After quoting the Talmud (Gittin
61) concerning the obligation to visit the sick, even of heathens; to bury their
dead with the Jewish dead and to provide for their poor together with the Jewish
poor, in order to advance "ways of peace"; he adds the following
verses: Behold it is stated" God is good to all and His mercy is to all His
creatures" (Psalm 145 v.9), and it is stated "Her ways are pleasant
ways and all her paths are peace" (Proverbs ch. 3 v. 17). The latter
quotation appears in the Talmudic passage preceding the above (Gittin 59b) which
declares that "the whole Torah itself is for the sake of 'the ways of
peace' as it is written 'Her ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are
peace'". Maimonides thus follows the Talmud in affirming that the Torah
requires us in fact to go beyond the letter of the law, in order to serve the
teleology of Torah, namely, peace and good will to all.
By works and not by faith in Grace given
Freely
However, Maimonides goes further than the aforementioned Talmudic text. It is
not only the societal teleology of Torah that requires us to behave in this
manner, he declares, but also and perhaps above all, the highest personal
religious goal: "Behold God is good to all and His mercies extend to all
His creatures",
Lovey Dovey Tolerance...see Judeo Agape
agape lovey dovey tolerant Churcinsanity today
and precisely therefore says Maimonides we must behave accordingly.
Maimonides thus emphasizes the Biblical commandment and goal of Imitatio Dei
(Leviticus ch. 19 v.1). In the words of Abba Shaul, "Just as He is gracious
and merciful so you be gracious and merciful" (Mekhilta, Canticles, 3).
Judaism views it as both our personal religious duty as well as our societal
religious obligation to be compassionate and caring towards all, even heathens;
how much more so then, towards believers and righteous gentiles.
Yep they will lovingly behead the
redneck southern Jesus Loving Believer, for the good of the collective ....of
course.
Of course the religio-ethical imperative in relation to all human beings is
rooted in the Biblical concept of the Image of God in which all persons are
created (Genesis ch. 1 v. 27).
Their image they have created
themselves, who is not the IMAGE Jesus the Christ of the INVISIBLE Father, which
none of these Liars have seen.
Thus as Ben Azai and Rabbi Tanhuma teach (Bereshit Rabbah, 24), disregard for
the dignity of any human being is disregard for God Himself (see also, Korban
Aharon on Sifra Kedoshim 4, 12; Tiferet Yisrael on Avot ch. 3 m. 14; Netziv,
Introd. to commentary on Genesis).
they speak only of the shemgods and not
the goyim animals they call us in their haha hashem of shem god shame talmud
Bavli of the chief shemyaza their tetragrammaton
Moreover the pursuit of justice and righteousness for all, is not only a goal
of the Messianic era, but in fact we are told that it is only through the
pursuit of justice and righteousness that Redemption will take place (Isaiah ch.
1 v. 27).
Only if one denies Jesus the Christ. Once the earth is
Purged of the LORD's saints all mankind will worship the Beast save the
ELECT.,who come and wait unto the 1335 days.
Furthermore, inextricably linked to such Redemption and to the above conduct,
is the higher (if not highest) value, to which reference was also made at the
outset. Namely, the obligation upon Jews both individually and collectively, to
sanctify God's Name through their conduct, before society at large (Bereshit
Rabbah 49, 16; Maimonides Hilchot Eduyot, ch. 1 hal. 2).
Murder, robbery, thievery, Liars,
Whoremongers , workers of iniquity, sanctifies their god the head murderer and
the lust of the father they do.
For this reason the Tosefta (Bava Kama ch. 10) declares an offense by a Jew
against a heathen to be a worse sin than when it is done to another Jew, because
it involves a universal desecration of the Divine Name. Accordingly our sages
declare (Yalkut on Deuteronomy ch. 6 v. 5 and similarly in Seder Eliyahu Rabbah
ch. 26) "See that you yourself are beloved by human beings and keep far
form sin and theft from Jew, heathen and from any person...for the Torah was
only given to sanctify God's Name, as it says: 'And I will put a sign on
them...and they shall declare my glory among the gentiles' (Isaiah ch. 66 v.
19)".
Jesus the LIGHT Unto the Gentiles
The obligation to be respectful and ethically meticulous in our relations
with all people, Jews and non-Jews, is thus central to the Jewish ethos and
purpose, as well as to its destiny. By living accordingly we sanctify His Name
and merit the Divine Promise of that destiny for the people of Israel gathered
and living in its Land as envisaged by the prophet Ezekiel in ch. 37 v. 26,
"And I will establish a Covenant of Peace with them - it shall be an
eternal covenant with them".

Indeed, the philosopher - legalist, Maimonides totally
supports Shimon and Levi. Maimonides explains that while Moses was commanded
to teach the 613commandments only to Israel, he was similarly commanded to
enforce the seven Noahide
laws of morality - especially "thou shalt not murder"- upon every
Gentile; "And whoever does not accept
them, must be killed" (Laws of Kings 8,10). Apparently this
student of Aristotle believed that anyone who
doesn't accept the Noahide laws of
morality is in the category (at least potentially) of, "one who is about
to murder an innocent must first be killed." This is especially
true today, in our Global village with nuclear capability!

1) The Jewish Tenak is and has been refered to as "The
Bible" so I'm not sure why we can't refer to it as that here.
2) The Torah is still part of the Christian Bible and so those commandments
are still in the Christian Bible.
3) Christianity has never repealed any of those punishments nor morally
condemned them so they are, in many ways, still "on the books".
4) It's worth remembering that capital punishment, in Judaism, was considered
a form of atonement for the sinner. Therefore, no-one is punished by eternal
damnation in Judaism, in the same way that people are in both Christianity and
Islam. Therefore, in many ways, by repealing the Noahide
laws and forcing everyone to share the same religion (or face an eternity in
hell), Christianity offers far worse punishment than Judaism

38: And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40: And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41: I receive not honour from men.
42: But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43: I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44: How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45: Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you,
even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46: For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47: But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Why Did Israel Reject Jesus as Their Messiah?
The Jews are still looking for their Messiah to
come. Although the Church has always taught that the Messiah would come twice,
Jewish teachers have rejected the idea. However, recent Jewish commentaries of
the Talmud proclaim two future Messiahs. One, they suggest, will appear before
the War of Gog and Magog (the coming Russian-Arab invasion of Israel).

This interesting interpretation is their

prophecy two separate comings of the Messiah:
the snare of satan and his Pharisaic
chasidim the Lubavitchers of the Sofiet empire of doom
one to persecution and death, the second to
glorious victory over the enemies of God
and Israel. The curious factor here is that this interpretation of two comings
of the Messiah is precisely the claim of the New Testament. However, Christians
present the evidence that Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled the prophecies of the
first coming during His First Coming, and that He will return to redeem both
Israel and the Church in the near future, in the Second Coming.

It is generally acknowledged that the name Coniah is equivalent to the names

Hi Rabbi Winston,
You have discussed various different Torah Codes in previous articles
(e.g. Twin Towers, etc). In light of the possibility that John
Kerry may
become the next president of the US, has the Rabbi noticed that name Kerry
(Kuf-Reish-Yud) shows up several times in the Tochecha in Parshas
Bechokosai? What I find most striking is that the word "Kerry"
is used several times throughout the Tochecha when H-shem says that if you
will go with me "'Kerry"
(translated as Coincidence/Casually) I too will will go with "B'Kerry".
Obviously nothing written in the Torah is a "coincidence". The
fact that a serious contender for the US Presidency in these incredible
times is named "Kerry"
(who by the way had a Jewish grandfather named Cohn (was he also a Kohain?))
and that his name shows up several times in the Torah in the portion of
the Tochecha appears to be a very intersting sign.
Does the Rabbi have any additional insight or comments about this?

Czech Records Tell the Story of How Jewish Kohn
Became Catholic Kerry
REPORTER'S NOTEBOOK
By Joshua
Cohen
February 27, 2004
OPAVA, Czech Republic — Ever since The Boston Globe broke the story of
Senator John Kerry's Jewish roots last year, the rise of the humble Kohn
family of Silesia to Boston Brahmanism has been presented to the public as a
prime example of the American Dream.
Earlier this month, I set out to trace the route from Kohn to Kerry,
beginning at the desk of Jiri Stibor, the chain-smoking head archivist of
Opava, the relevant municipal seat in Moravia. Stibor's task for visiting
Western journalists is to produce a large leather ledger, one of hundreds he
has on hand, and open it to its final pages. These are the "Pages for
Israelites," the records for the area that were always kept on the very
last pages of each year's ledger.
In the now-heavily publicized ledger, we found a man named Fritz Kohn, born
a Jew in 1873 in the town of Horni Benesov (then Bennisch) to Benedict Kohn,
and, on the very last page, appended to the ledger, is a notation that
"Kohn, Fritz" received permission on March 17, 1902, from Viennese
authorities to change his surname to Kerry. By the time this decree had
reached the priest who made the ledger notation in Opava, Fritz Kerry was
living in Vienna and had converted to Catholicism, following the lead of his
brother Otto, who had converted and changed his name in 1897. Later, Fritz
Kohn left for America, changed his first name to Fredrick, and eventually shot
himself in the head in a Boston hotel, leaving behind a few hundred dollars in
stock and a Cadillac.
Now his grandson — a lifelong Boston Catholic, a senator and a member of
the Forbes and, through marriage, Heinz clans — is set to become the
Democratic nominee for the presidency of the United States. If he wins, he'll
be the first American president with known Jewish roots.
This is as far as Kerry's lineage is known. But if one examines the Opava
Jewish records — extending back 61 years before Fritz Kohn's birth notation
— a compelling picture emerges of a small, close-knit Jewish community, as
well as of a family whose relationships had become complicated.
As far back as the Kohn records in Opava go, a man named Benedict Kohn,
Kerry's great-grandfather, arrived in Bennisch, a small town in the northeast
corner of Moravia near the Polish border, and worked as a brewmaster. (The
exact year Benedict arrived in Bennisch is unclear because the records note
only births, marriages and deaths. Benedict's birth records haven't yet been
found.) Over a decade, Benedict fathered a number of children with Mathilde
Frankel, the daughter of Jacob Frankel, a Prussian royal trader. Ida, Fritz,
Otto and Bernhard Kohn are the children who are at least on record.
Kohn was of course a Kohen, a member of the priestly class, which
led me and my friend Aron Ivo and photographer Ahron Weiner to the Jewish
cemetery in nearby Krnov, one of two Jewish cemeteries in the area that were
in service during the 19th century and the probable burial place then for Jews
from Bennisch. Contrary to previous reports, there was neither a synagogue nor
a cemetery in Bennisch proper, because the Jewish community there was too
small: 57 Jews at its height, and only one Jew remained at the outbreak of
World War II (a lone Feldmann). A neo-Romanesque synagogue still stands in
Krnov — the only synagogue in the rural area around Horni Benesov — but
it's in terrible condition and defaced with many swastikas.
Here in the Krnov cemetery, we find two Kohns: a Maier Kohn and a Carl
Kohn. While it has so far been impossible to ascertain relationships with
Benedict, the years work out so that Maier (1821-1906) could be Benedict's
father and so Maier Kohn could possibly be the great-great-grandfather of the
future president of the United States. Carl Kohn (1844-1899) might have been
Benedict's brother. On the other hand, there could have been many
unrelated Kohn's living in so small a place with so few Jews... but that
doesn't seem plausible. The Krnov cemetery hasn't been touched since the Nazis
desecrated it during the war, so we three almost suffered hernias trying to
right the heavy tombstones to check the German and Hebrew inscriptions. Many
stones here are missing, effaced or, frankly, too heavy for us to pick up, so
other Kohns might be there, too. Needless to say, no burial records for Krnov
exist.
We developed what came to be known as "the duchening hands
theory," according to which Kohanic lineage is indicated by the
hands disposed in the priestly benediction depicted on the top of a tombstone.
If we are right, the only other Kohanim we found were Becks, including
a Jacob Beck. According to the records in Opava, a Jacob Beck, who previously
ran a liquor distillery, took over the lease on a brewery from the
municipality in Bennisch, the same brewery at which Benedict worked. It stands
to reason that Benedict may have come to Bennisch from a neighboring town
(possibly Krnov) for the express purpose of working for this Beck, his fellow Kohen
— but if so, were they merely friends (who met how and where?) or is it
possible that they were also relatives?
Contrary to previously published reports, Fritz Kohn, Kerry's grandfather,
was never a brewmaster. He's not on the census records as living in their
house in Bennisch in the 1880s, nor is his father, mother or siblings Ida and
Otto. Where did they go in the 1880s, when Fritz would have been in his teens?
It's tempting to speculate that Benedict packed up his whole family and left
for Vienna in the mid-1880s, placing Fritz there much earlier than previously
thought. Maybe Ida, the eldest child and only daughter, got married and left
the town separately from the rest of the family. Unless the labyrinth of
municipal (non-Jewish) records in Vienna provides any evidence, we might never
know.
But some Kohns stayed on in Bennisch. The only Kohns on record in their
house in the 1880s are the family members of Bernhard Kohn, the third son of
Benedict, who took charge of Beck's brewery after his father left. In Opava,
there are records of three of his children by a woman named Hermine Kolban:
Bruno (born 1880), Alfred (born 1882) and Richard (born 1887). Richard is
particularly interesting because there is a record in Opava of him changing
his name to "Keri," a German surname that would discredit the
popular story that the "Kerry" family chose its name at random off a
map of Ireland. A note is appended to Alfred's and Bruno's birth records
regarding their conversions, saying in effect that they are no longer to be
listed among the Jews. No research has turned up thus far as to what happened
to this branch of the Kohn/Kerry/Keri family. Are descendants still living in
northern Moravia? In Vienna? Despite their conversions, did they (and/or their
families) die in the Holocaust? Or did they eventually follow the rest of the
family to America?
Contrary to previously published accounts, the Kohn house was not on a site
where a Socialist-era house now stands. Instead, it stood along with another
house on what is now a playground about 50 meters up the road from the former
brewery. On a wall, a block up toward the town square, is graffiti: the name
Kerry in blue next to an enormous (and backwards) swastika.
Despite a recent recommendation by the town's mayor, Josef Klech, to bestow
honorary citizenship on Senator Kerry, he can have no real Jewish connection
with the Horni Benesov of today. All of the present inhabitants are Moravians
who moved in when the Germans were moved out after World War II. They were
enticed here by Socialist-built factories and cheap living, as the government
put up two-floor concrete structures to replace older German buildings
throughout the 1950s and 1960s and offered work incentives to families willing
to relocate to a remote corner of the country. After the fall of communism,
most of the factories that employed Horni Benesov citizens closed, and now
only one remains, a small factory employing under 200 people making small
metal parts (hinges and locks) for doors and windows. With a 17% unemployment
rate and some of the worst living conditions in the Czech Republic, what Horni
Benesov needs isn't a plaque where Kerry's/Kohn's house once stood. It needs a
Heinz ketchup factory.
"John Kerry will win and be president of the United States. But I
don't see any reason why it affects me. This is a momentary boom," said
Mayor Klech, a middle-aged engineer. "It's definitely not [Horni
Benesov's] primary problem. People are more interested in their
livelihoods."
Marketa Chulakova, 22 and unemployed, agreed. "What we need is a
factory that would remain here, to assure prosperity," she said. Her
mother, Maria, 45, works at the town square's only bar. She said that Queen
Elizabeth II used to get all her linen from local craftspeople, and she'd like
to see a revival of small, artistic labor along these lines.
Maria asked me why I was so interested in asking local townspeople about
Kerry, and when I answered that he might be the first U.S. president with
Jewish roots, she nodded unconvincingly.
This point hits me in the car ride back to Prague: Why should these
people care about a senator whose Jewish grandfather was born and lived in a
German incarnation of this town for at most a little over a decade? Kerry's
ancestors themselves didn't seem to care much about their roots. This is a
family whose members changed their names and converted en masse, a family that
wholly remade itself in search of a better life, in the hope of finding more
opportunity outside of their religion and the bleak rural village that Horni
Benesov in many ways still is.
While most of the American media is sure to overdo and distort the
sentimental trappings of this particular American dream, this now public
genealogy stands as a testament to the power of immigrant self-determination. Kerry
has an amazing opportunity to understand what shaped him, what decisions and
sacrifices preceded him on the Kohns' long road to America, a road that might
lead to the White House.

Sen. John Kerry speaks at the
Anti-Defamation League´s National Leadership Conference, May 3 in Washington
BEHIND THE HEADLINES
In outreach to Jewish
community,
Kerry stresses his ties with Israel
WASHINGTON, May 3 (JTA) — A Kerry administration
would avoid the pressure other presidents have used to nudge Israel in peace
negotiations, and would consult closely with the Jewish state before
launching any new Middle East peace initiative.
Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), the presumptive Democratic nominee for president,
outlined his approach to Middle East peacemaking in an interview with JTA on
Monday, the same day he launched his campaign to win Jewish votes with a major
policy speech to the Anti-Defamation League.
Kerry has been working hard to mitigate the effect in the Jewish community of
President Bush’s extraordinary concessions to Israel last month, when the
president recognized some Israeli claims to the West Bank and rejected any right
of Palestinian refugees to return to Israel.
The Jewish vote could play a crucial role in 10 swing
states in what is likely to be a close election this fall, and Kerry is on a
fund-raising drive that needs a strong turnout among the Democrats’ broad base
of Jewish donors. His ADL speech sounded a range of notes aimed at
pleasing Jewish ears — on civil rights, anti-Semitism and
Israel.
“For the entire 20 years that I have been in the United States Senate,
I’m proud that my commitment to a secure Jewish state has been unwavering; not
even by one vote or one letter or one resolution has it wavered,” Kerry said
to the applause of the ADL audience. “As president, I can guarantee you that
that support and that effort for our ally, a vibrant democracy, will
continue.”
Vibrant Noahide Communitarianism
That’s a guarantee that Bush — or for that matter, almost any of his
predecessors — easily could make. In his subsequent interview with JTA, Kerry
sought to elaborate on what would distinguish his
presidency vis-a-vis Israel.
“I’m very sensitive to the push-back that came from overly aggressive
presidents who tried to just advance the title” of a peace process, “without
the substance,” Kerry told JTA. “There’s always been a feeling of
concessions driven without a return on it. I will never voice a concession that
somehow puts Israel’s judgment of its security at risk.”
The only president Kerry cited specifically was President Clinton. He praised
Clinton for his efforts as an “honest broker” between Israelis and
Palestinians, but acknowledged, “Some people, obviously there are a few
people, who felt he pushed too hard.”
Clinton pressed Israel into offering unexpectedly broad concessions at the
Camp David summit in 2000.
Kerry also said his belief in a multilateral approach to foreign affairs did
not apply to Israel.
“The multilateral community has always been very difficult with respect to
Israel, and we have always stood up against their efforts to isolate Israel,”
he said.
Kerry said his criticism of what he calls the Bush administration’s
unilateralism has to do with the administration of Iraq, environmental issues
and containment of North Korea.
“None of that changes my record being wary” of “the way the U.N. has
been used as a sort of battering ram with respect to Israel,” Kerry said.
Kerry reiterated his endorsement of Bush’s recent statement of support for
Israel’s disengagement plan from the Palestinians in exchange for Prime
Minister Ariel Sharon’s commitment to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and a
portion of the West Bank.
“ ‘Right of return’ is a non-starter. We need to get a note of reality
into these discussions,” Kerry said.
Likewise, refusing to recognize the permanence of some settlements is
“disingenuous,” Kerry said.
Sharon’s Likud party rejected the prime minister’s plan in a referendum
Sunday, a blow to the Bush administration’s hopes of claiming at least one
victory for its otherwise battered Middle East posture.
Kerry suggested that if Bush made mistakes, it had to do with how he framed
the deal, which caught U.S. allies in Europe and the Middle East off guard.
“There might have been ways in which the administration might have done
diplomacy around this in a more effective way,” he said.
Kerry said he would encourage America’s Arab allies to get more involved in
developing alternatives to Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. He
faulted the Bush administration for not seizing the moment immediately after the
Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, when Arab nations might have been more
susceptible to persuasion.
Kerry knows why the WTC attacks occured, and Kerry
knows that Iraq had to be taken by the whore of Babylon
“There was an opportunity to perhaps take advantage of their sensitivity to
being hauled over the front pages of every newspaper of the world when it
happened,” he said. “There were some opportunities there to advance the
accountability factor, the transparency factor, perhaps to get them to do a more
overt effort to helping some kind of legitimate entity to emerge with which
Israel could, in fact, negotiate.”
Kerry said he pressed those issues with Arab leaders when he toured the
region in January 2002.
If elected, Kerry said, his first step with regard to the Middle East would
be to consult with Israeli and U.S. Jewish leaders.
“I’m not about to go off on some grand design. We’ve got to see where
we are in terms of security, in terms of where is the government of Israel at
that point in time,” Kerry said.
He also backed off an earlier commitment to send a presidential envoy to the
region. The people he proposed — Clinton, President Carter or former Secretary
of State James Baker — angered some supporters of Israel.
Kerry also agreed with the policy of isolating Arafat, whom Israel and the
Bush administration accuse of ties to terrorism.
“He’s where he appropriately belongs now, which is on the sidelines,”
Kerry said.
Kerry demonstrated a fluency with the issues, citing 1st-century Jewish
historian Josephus Flavius and tossing in an allusion to the efforts of Menachem
Begin, the late Israeli prime minister, to return the Gaza Strip to Egypt during
peace negotiations in the 1970s.
Meeting afterward with Daniel Ayalon, Israel’s ambassador to Washington,
Kerry also showed an interest in internal Israeli politics, asking why Sharon
had risked putting his withdrawal plan to a Likud Party vote instead of taking
it to the entire Israeli public.
Kerry had reached out to Sharon for a meeting on his recent Washington trip
but was rebuffed.
Kerry’s speech to the ADL came ahead of the American Israel Public Affairs
Committee annual meeting, which will feature a top Bush administration official,
but not Kerry. AIPAC never invites an opposition presidential candidate to speak
when an incumbent is running for re-election.
In his speech to the ADL, Kerry sought to extend a prominent campaign theme
— that Bush’s conservative agenda has divided the country — into one that
resonated with an organization championing dialogue and conciliation.
He celebrated the “notion that we don’t try to have a politics that goes
down to the lowest common denominator, but rather lifts people up to the highest
common denominator; that doesn’t try to drive wedges between people in order
to govern and conquer, but recognizes the words of Abraham Lincoln — that a
house divided against itself cannot stand,” Kerry said in his speech.
“And we should ask ourselves in this country why it is that we are so
divided today,” Kerry said.
Democrats worry that Bush, who has impressed many in the Jewish community
with a gut-level affection for Israel and its leaders, could cut into the
community’s traditional support for the Democrats.
Kerry’s voting record on Israel is spotless, but he acknowledged the
difficulty of conveying his visceral attachment to Jewish causes.
“I want to share with you more personally why that is so,” he said in his
speech, after repeating his commitment to Israel. “Because you often hear
those words, but it’s important to understand sort of how they connect to
somebody, what it means.”
Kerry recalled shouting “Am Yisrael Chai!” from
atop Masada; he delivered a sensitive eulogy to Lenny Zakim, an ADL
director in Boston who died of bone marrow cancer in 1999; and he spoke about
the scourge of revived anti-Semitism.
Afterward, some Jewish organizational leaders suggested Kerry had really
connected with them.
“When he spoke about his experiences and his 20-year relationship with
Lenny Zakim, you could see he had a real connection with the State of Israel and
the Jewish community,” one said.
But another leader said he wanted to hear more substance on the Middle East.
“There was not a lot of red meat in there,” he said. “It was a lot more
personal than political.”

Democratic candidate for president could also conceivably serve as High

Seriously though, I think that the election of 2000 should have taught

Anti-Moshiach
- Anti-christ (see Moshiach).
Literally: in place of Christ, or against Christ. According to the New
Testament, there will come an individual who will deceive the world into
thinking he is Messiah, or Christ. According to the epistles of John, the term
also refers to the spirit of those whose teachings are contrary to that of
Christ.
The ceremonial of consecration included
certain rites which all priests were required to undergo: purification; the
sacrifices; the "filling" of the hands; the smearing with blood. But
Aaron the high priest was anointed with sacred oil, hence the title of the
"anointed priest"; other passages have it that all priests were
anointed (Ex. xxviii. 41, xxx. 30; Lev. vii. 36, x. 7; Num. iii. 3). The high
priest's vestments of office, which he wore, during his ministrations, above
those prescribed for the common priests, were: the "me'il," a
sleeveless, purple robe,
the lower hem of which was fringed with small golden bells alternating with
pomegranate tassels in violet, red,
purple, and scarlet; the Ephod, with two onyx-stones on
the shoulder-piece, on which were engraved the names of the tribes of Israel;
the breastplate ("ḥoshen"), with twelve gems, each engraved
with the name of one of the tribes; a pouch in which he probably carried the
Urim and Thummim. His Head-Dress was a tiara, or, perhaps, a peculiarly wound
turban, with a peak, the front of which bore a gold plate with the inscription
"Holy unto God."
His girdle seems to have been of more precious material than that of the
common priests.

Jews no longer believe that they need to perform animal sacrifices to atone
for sin. (Arguably, they never did; rabbinic literature makes clear that
sacrifices were only to be a part of the process of repenting for sin.)
This topic will be discussed here; attention will be paid to the historical
view of sacrifices pioneered by Maimonides
Maimonides is a common name for Moshe Ben Maimon (1135-1204), a Jewish
physician, rabbi, and philosopher. Many Jewish works refer to him by the
acronym of his title and name, RaMBaM. The name "Maimonides" comes
from Greek, which means "son of Maimon".
Maimonides was born in Cordoba, Spain, but soon fled to Morocco after the
fall of Córdoba to the Almohads. After that he lived in Palestine and Egypt,
where he was the doctor of Saladin, the Sultan of Egypt. His main works are: The
Commentary on the Mishna, The Guide of the Perplexed, and The
Mishneh Torah, a comprehensive code of Jewish law. Most of Maimonides'
works were written in Arabic. However the Mishnah Torah was written in Hebrew.

Many of the traditional restrictions on Kohanim still remain in force in Orthodox
Judaism Orthodox Judaism is a loosely
affiliated set of Jewish movements characterized by:
- Strict adherence to the traditional codes of Jewish law.
- A range of beliefs towards modern culture which vary from careful
acceptance of some parts of modernity, to outright rejection of parts of
modernity considered immoral.
- A range of beliefs towards modern forms of historical scholarship and
text study. Ultra-Orthodox, Hasidic and some Modern Orthodox Jews hold
that almost all such forms of learning are forbidden and heretical.
However, many Modern Orthodox Jews hold that modern forms of historical
scholarship and text study may be used in some or all areas of Jewish
thought.

Marriages involving Kohanim
Such marriage
Marriage is a socially sanctioned union, typically of one man and one
woman, in this connection called husband and wife. Typically they form a
family, socially, through forming a household, which is often subsequently
extended biologically, through children. It is found in all societies, but in
widely varying forms. There are many variants on this basic form, many of
which are discussed below: see same-sex marriage and polygamy for two
controversial variants.

are regulated by a number of special restrictions in addition to the general
laws covering all Israelites. The Torah prohibits a Kohen from marrying women
of certain specified categories: A divorcee, a "defiled" woman, or a
"harlot." It ordains that any Kohen who makes such a marriage loses
his priestly status [Lev. 21:6-7]. The Talmudic understanding of the word
'harlot' also encompasses the meaning "proselyte" (convert) and this
suggests that maidens of that time, not born of Jewish parents, were barred
from marrying priests because of the low standards of morality prevalent among
the non-Jewish peoples of the period. According to the Talmud
The Talmud (התלמוד) is considered an
authoritative record of rabbinic discussions on Jewish laws, ethics, customs,

the
act of marriage, although prohibited, was effective if a Kohen married in
disregard of the prohibitions. Any children born of the union are legitimate.
Since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, there have been no more
sacrificial services, but the sanctified status of the Kohanim remains in
force. Reform Judaism sees ritual halakha as no longer having any legal
status, and this allows such marriages. Orthodox Judaism accepts that these
laws are still normative, and thus usually forbids such marriages. Some
Orthodox rabbis do have flexability on this subject. Conservative Judaism
holds that, in general, Jewish law is still binding, but that these particular
restrictions are no longer applicable. Thus the movement teaches that a Kohen
may marry a convert or divorcee. Their reasoning is that:
- The Temple in Jerusalem is no longer extant; Kohanim are no longer
needed to perform Temple services.
- According to many codes of Jewish law, the priestly status of most
Kohanim is doubtful, at best. Rabbi Isaac ben Sheshet (14th century)
differentiates between authentic Kohanim of ancient times, and those who
carry the title today. He rules that today's Kohanim, lacking documentary
evidence of clear right to the priestly title, owes any privileges and
obligations not simply to halakha (law) but rather to the force of minhag
(custom). [Sefer Bar Sheshet, responsum 94, Lemberg, 1805].
- Rabbi Solomon Luria (16th century) rules that because of the frequent
persecutions and expulsions of Jews throughout history, Kohanim lost track
of their genealogy. The Magen Avraham also rules this way. Rabbi Jacob
Emden ruled similarly.
- The intermarriage crisis in American Judaism is an extreme situation,
and the movement feels it must support the decision of two Jews to marry.
See also the entry on the Jewish
view of marriage Judaism considers marriage
to be the ideal state of existence; a man without a wife, or a woman without a
husband, are considered incomplete.
Ancient customs
In traditional Jewish society, from the era of the Talmud up to the
enlightenment, social association of the sexes was usually restricted. In
Orthodox Jewish communities these social restrictions are still in force.

participate in Nesiat Kapayim because as a continuation of a Temple
ritual, the Priestly Benediction should be performed by those who were
authentically eligible to do so in the Temple. (Rabbis Stanley Bramnick

Progressive Judaism and in the U.K. Liberal Judaism) is a branch of Judaism
characterized by:
- The belief that an individual's personal autonomy overrides traditional
Jewish law and custom. The individual decides which Jewish practices, if
any, to adopt as binding
- A positive attitude toward modern culture
- The belief that both traditional rabbinic modes of study, and more
modern critical textual analysis, are valid ways to learn about and from
the Hebrew Bible and rabbinic literature.

Orthodox Judaism is a loosely affiliated set of Jewish movements characterized
by:
- Strict adherence to the traditional codes of Jewish law.
- A range of beliefs towards modern culture which vary from careful

- A range of beliefs towards modern forms of historical scholarship and

that almost all such forms of learning are forbidden and heretical.
However, many Modern Orthodox Jews hold that modern forms of historical
scholarship and text study may be used in some or all areas of Jewish

Historical views
This section will use modern critical historical scholarship, including the
documentary
hypothesis
The documentary hypothesis is a theory held by many historians that the five
books of Moses (the Torah) are a combination of documents from different
sources.
In general, the authorship of all the books of the Bible is still an open
topic of research. Historians are interested in learning about who wrote the
books of the Bible and when they were written. Modern studies on this subject
began in the 1800s, and they constitute a lively field of activity even now.
Assigning solid dates to any books of the Bible is difficult. This subject is
covered in Dating the Bible.

explain how the priestly codes evolved and became a part of the Torah
Torah is a Hebrew word meaning teaching, instruction, or
especially Law. It primarily refers to the first section of the
Tanakh, i.e. the first five books of the Hebrew Bible.
These books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
Collectively they are also known as the Pentateuch (Greek for
"five books") or Hamisha Humshei Torah (Hebrew for
"the five parts of the Torah" or just Humash ["five
parts"] for short).

Recent Findings
Recently, the "myth" that Kohen are actually descended from
Aaron, was substantiated by genetic testing. Since all direct male lineage
shares a common Y chromosome, testing was done across sectors of the Jewish
population to see if there was any commonality between their Y chromosomes.
There was proven to be certain distinctions among the "Kohen" Y
chromosomes, indicating that the Kohen do share some common ancestry. This
information was used to support the claim of the Lemba
In Vodun, Lemba is a loa worshipped in Brazil and Haiti.
The Lemba or Lembaa are also a tribe of people in sub-Saharan Africa. It was
proven by genetics that they are, as they claim, descendants of the original
Jewish people. Specifically it was proved that amongst them were people whose
genetic "fingerprint" matched that of Kohanim, a

entry. It is not yet in a form useful for laypeople, nor does it represent any
modern scholarship.
In ancient Israel one was not required to be specially consecrated in order
to perform the sacrificial functions; any one might approach the altar and
offer sacrifices. Thus Gideon, of the tribe of Manasseh (Judges vi. 26), and
the Danite Manoah (ib. xiii. 16, 19) sacrificed in person at the express
command of God and the angel of God respectively; similarly, David sacrificed
on the altar he had built at God's command on the thrashing-floor of Araunah
(II Sam. xxiv. 25); and Solomon, before the ark in Jerusalem (I Kings iii.
15).
In accordance with this usage in ancient Israel, the ordinances contained
in the Book of the Covenant concerning the building of altars and the offering
of sacrifices are addressed not to the priest, but to the people at large
(Exodus xx). Even where there was a sanctuary with a priesthood, as at Shiloh,
any layman might slaughter and offer his sacrifices without priestly aid . As
access to the altar was not yet guarded in accordance with later Levitical
ordinances, so the priesthood was not yet confined to one family, or even to
one tribe. The Ephraimite Samuel became priest of the sanctuary at Shiloh,
wearing the priestly linen coat ("efod bad") and the pallium (I Sam.
ii. 18 et seq., iii. 1). The kings of Israel ordained as priest whomever they
chose (I Kings xli); David, too, invested his own sons, as well as the Jairite
Ira, of the tribe of Manasseh, with the priestly office.
Since, in pre-exilic times, the whole tribe of Levi was chosen "to
stand before God in order to minister unto Him," It is but consistent
that the office "of blessing in God's name" (which in the Priestly
Code is assigned to Aaron and his sons—Num. vi. 23) should, in the
Deuteronomic code, pertain to all the Levites (comp. Deut. x. 8, xxi. 8).
A strong proof that all members of the Levitical tribe were entitled to
priesthood is furnished in the provision which was made by the Deuteronomic
code for those Levites who were scattered through the country as priests of
the local sanctuaries, and who, in consequence of the Deuteronomic
reformation, had been left without any means of support. It stipulated that
those Levites who desired to enter the ranks of the priesthood of Jerusalem
should be admitted to equal privileges with their brethren the Levites who
ministered there unto God, and should share equally with them the priestly
revenues (Deut. xviii. 6-8). However, this provision was not carried out. The
priests of Jerusalem were not willing to accord to their brethren of the local
sanctuaries the privileges prescribed by Deuteronomy, and although they
granted them support from the priestly dues, they did not allow them to
minister at the altar (comp. II Kings xxiii. 8, 9). In this way the
Deuteronomic reformation marks, after all, the first step toward the new
development in the priesthood in exilic and post-exilic times.
The attitude of the priests of Jerusalem toward those of the local
sanctuaries was sanctioned by Ezekiel. In his book (and later in II Chron.
xxxi. 10) the priesthood of Jerusalem is called "the house of Zadok,"
after Zadok, who replaced Abiathar, Eli's descendant, when Abiathar, because
of his partizanship for Adonijah, was deposed by Solomon (comp. I Kings ii.
27, 35). Ezekiel ordained that of all the Levite priests only the Zadokites,
who had ministered to God in His legitimate sanctuary at Jerusalem, should be
admitted to the service of the altar; the rest, who had defiled themselves by
officiating at the local sanctuaries, should be degraded to the position of
mere servants in the sanctuary, replacing the foreign Temple attendants who
had heretofore performed all menial services (Ezek. xl. 46, xliii. 19, xliv.
6-16). Naturally, the altar-gifts, the tribute of the first-fruits, and the
like, were to be awarded thenceforward to the Zadokites alone (xliv. 29, 30).
Though Ezekiel assigns to the priests the duty of sitting in judgment in legal
disputes, as before (xliv. 24), he makes their ritual functions, not their
judicial functions, the essential point in his regulations governing the
priests. Administering the Law, according to him, extends only to matters of
ritual, to the distinctions between holy and profane, clean and unclean, and
to the statutory observance of Sabbaths and festivals (xliv. 23, 24).
The Priestly Code.
Ezekiel's new regulations formed, in all essentials, the basis of the
post-exilic priestly system which is formulated in detail in the Priestly
Code. A striking difference between Ezekiel and the Priestly Code, however, is
at once evident in that the latter betrays no idea of the historical
development of things. Whereas Ezekiel records the old usage and, by virtue of
his authority as a prophet, declares it abolished, the Priestly Code
recognizes only the new order of things introduced by Ezekiel, which order it
dates back to the time of Moses, alleging that from the very first the
priest-hood had been confined to Aaron and his sons, while the mass of the
Levites had been set apart as their ministers to fill the subordinate offices
of the sanctuary.
The priestly genealogy of I Chron. v. 29-41 and vi. 35-38 was but the
logical result of this transference of post-exilic conditions back to the
period of the wandering in the wilderness. This genealogy, the purpose of
which was to establish the legitimacy of the Zadokite priesthood, represents
the Zadokites as the lineal descendants of Phinehas (the son of Eleazar, the
son of Aaron), who, for his meritorious action in the case of Zimri, according
to Num. xxv. 10-13, had been promised the priesthood as a lasting heritage.
That this genealogy and that of I Chron. xxiv. 1-6, in which the descent of
the Elite Abiathar is traced from Aaron's son Ithamar, are fictitious is
evident from the fact that they conflict with the authentic records of the
books of Samuel and Kings: (1) they know nothing of the priesthood of Eli; (2)
Ahitub, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, and father of Ahimelech of Nob
(comp. I Sam. xiv. 3; xxii. 9, 11), appears in them as the son of an unknown
Amariah and the father of Zadok; (3) contrary to I Kings ii. 27, 35 (see
above), Abiathar and his descendants remain priests at the Temple of
Jerusalem.
The Priestly Orders.
Regarding the characteristic attribution of postexilic conditions to
pre-exilic times, a notable example may be pointed out in Chron. xxiii.-xxvi.
Both priests and Levites were, in post-exilic times, divided into twenty-four
families or classes, with a chief (called "rosh" or "sar";
comp. especially I Chron. xv. 4-12; xxiii. 8 et seq.; xxiv. 5, 6, 31; Ezra
viii. 29) at the head of each. The institution of this system, as well as of
other arrangements, is, in the passage cited, ascribed to David.
As the guardians of Israel's sanctity the priests formed a holy order
(comp. Lev. xxi. 6-8), and for the purpose of protecting them against all
profanation and Levitical defilement they were hedged about with rules and
prohibitions. They were forbidden to come in contact with dead bodies, except
in the case of their nearest kin, nor were they permitted to perform the
customary mourning rites (Lev. x. 6, xxi. 1-5; Ezek. xliv. 20, 25). They were
not allowed to marry harlots, nor dishonored or divorced women (Lev. xxi.
7).They were required to abstain from wine and all strong drink while
performing sacerdotal duties (Lev. x. 9; Ezek. xliv. 21). Any priest having
incurred Levitical defilement was excluded, under penalty of death, from
priestly service and from partaking of holy food during the time of his
uncleanness (Lev. xxii. 2-7, 9; Ezek. xliv. 26 et seq.). If afflicted with any
bodily blemish the priest was held permanently unfit for service; such a one
was, however, permitted to eat of the holy food (Lev. xxi. 17-23).
A noteworthy feature of the post-exilic priestly system is the place which
the high priest occupies in it, for which see High Priest.
To Make Atonement.
—In Rabbinical Literature:
The status of the priesthood in later Judaism and the views that prevailed
concerning it were in full accordance with the Priestly Code. Judaism saw in
the sanctuary the manifestation of God's presence among His people, and in the
priest the vehicle of divine grace, the mediator through whose ministry the
sins of the community, as of the individual, could be atoned for.
According to the rabbinical decision, "the priests were the
emissaries, not of the people, but of God"; hence, a person who had sworn
that he would not accept a service from a priest might nevertheless employ him
to offer sacrifices and might make atonement for sin through him (Talmud, Yoma
19a; and Nedarim)
Importance of Pedigree.
Later Judaism enforced rigidly the laws relating to the pedigrees of
priests, and even established similar requirements for the women they married.
Proof of a spotless pedigree was absolutely necessary for admission to
priestly service, and any one unable beyond all doubt to establish it was
excluded from the priesthood. Unless a woman's pedigree was known to be
unimpeachable, a priest, before marrying her, was required to examine it for
four generations on both sides, in case she was of priestly lineage; for five
generations if she was not of priestly descent. Neither might a priest marry a
proselyte or a freedwoman. Regarding a daughter of such persons, opinion in
the Mishnah is divided as to whether or not it was necessary that one of the
parents should be of Jewish descent. The decision of later authorities was
that, in case both of the woman's parents were proselytes or freed persons, a
priest should not marry her, but if he had done so, then the marriage should
be considered legitimate.
Contact with Dead Prohibited.
The Levitical law which forbids the priest to defile himself by coming in
contact with a dead body is minutely defined in the Talmud on the basis of
Num. xix. 11, 14-16. Not only is direct contact with the dead prohibited, but
the priest is forbidden to enter any house or enclosure, or approach any spot,
where is lying or is buried a dead body, or any part of a dead body—even a
piece of the size of an olive—or blood to the amount of half a
"log" (about a quarter of a liter); he is forbidden also to touch
any one or anything that is unclean through contact with the dead. In
contradistinction to Lev. xxi. 2-4, the Talmudic law includes the wife among
the persons of immediate relationship. It specifies, moreover, that it is the
duty of the priest to defile himself for the sake of his deceased wife or, in
fact, for any of his immediate kin, and that compulsion must be used in the
case of any priest who refuses to do so, as in the case of the priest Joseph
on the occasion of his wife's death.
But even while occupied in burying a relative, the priest may not come in
contact with other dead bodies. The Talmud prescribes, further, that if any
priest, even the high priest, finds a corpse by the wayside, and there be no
one in the vicinity who can be called upon to inter it, he himself must
perform the burial. Finally, the Talmud permits and indeed orders the priest
to defile himself in the case of the death of a nasi; it relates that when
Judah ha-Nasi died the priestly laws concerning defilement through contact
with the dead were suspended for the day of his death.
Bodily Defects Incapacitate.
The Talmudic law also specifies minutely what constitutes a bodily defect
sufficient to render the subject unfit for priestly service. Bek. vii. and
Sifra, Emor, iii. enumerate 142 cases; whether the defect is permanent or only
temporary is not taken into account.
The division of the priests into twenty-four classes, mentioned in
Chronicles, continued down to the destruction of the Second Temple, as
statements to this effect by Josephus ("Ant." vii. 14, § 7;
"Vita," § 1) and the Talmudic sources show. These divisions took
turns in weekly service, changing every Sabbath, but on the festivals all
twenty-four were present in the Temple and took part in the service. These
twenty-four divisions or classes were subdivided, according to their numbers,
into from five to nine smaller groups, each of which was assigned to service
in turn. The main divisions were called "mishmarot," the
subdivisions "batte abot" (terms which in Chronicles are used
interchangeably). There was a chief at the head of each main division, and
also one at the head of each subdivision.
According to Talmud
The Talmud (התלמוד) is considered an
authoritative record of rabbinic discussions on Jewish laws, ethics, customs,
legends and stories. It expands on the earlier writings in the Torah and
Mishnah, and is the basis for all later codes of Jewish law).
The two Talmuds
The Talmud is a combination of a core text, the Mishnah and a later
commentary, called the gemara ("completion"). There is only
one Mishnah, but there are two distinct gemaras, the Yerushalmi and
the Bavli. Both gemaras were developed by many rabbis over a few
centuries.

law, the regulations demanding an unimpeachable pedigree and relating to

In Judaism, the Messiah (from the Hebrew משיח, moshiach,
meaning "the anointed one") is a human descendant of King David, who
will rebuild the nation of Israel and restore the Davidic Kingdom; thus

in Jerusalem would be rebuilt and the service of the altar renewed.
Any one not complying with these requirements is not allowed to give the
priestly blessing, the pronouncing of which remained the duty of the priest,
according to Talmudic law, even after the destruction of the Temple. Talmudic
law prescribes further that the honor of being first called upon for the
reading of the Torah should belong to the priest.

Priest
The High Priest; Kohen Gadol
Aaron, though he is but rarely called "the great priest," being
generally simply designated "as ha-kohen" (the priest), was the
first incumbent of the office, to which he was appointed by God (Ex. xxviii.
1, 2; xxix. 4, 5). The succession was to be through one of his sons, and was
to remain in his own family (Lev. vi. 15). Failing a son, the office devolved
upon the brother next of age: such appears to have been the practice in the
Maccabean period. In the time of Eli, however (I Sam. ii), the office passed
to the collateral branch of Ithamar. But Solomon is reported to have deposed
Abiathar, and to have appointed Zadok, a descendant of Eleazar, in his stead.
After the Exile, the succession seems to have been, at first, in a direct line
from father to son; but later the civil authorities arrogated to themselves
the right of appointment.
King Herod nominated no less than six high priests; Archelaus, two. The
Roman legate Quirinius and his successors exercised the right of appointment,
as did Agrippa I., Herod of Chalcis, and Agrippa II. Even the people
occasionally elected candidates to the office. The high priests before the
Exile were, it seems, appointed for life (comp. Num. xxxv. 25, 28); in fact,
from Aaron to the Captivity the number of the high priests was not greater
than during the sixty years preceding the fall of the Second Temple.
Age and Qualifications.
The age of eligibility for the office is not fixed in the Torah;
but according to tradition it was twenty. Aristobulus, however, was only
seventeen when appointed by Herod, but the son of Onias III. was too young to
succeed his father. Legitimacy of birth was essential; hence the care in the
keeping of the genealogical records (Josephus, "Contra Ap." i., §
7) and the distrust of one whose mother had been captured in war. The high
priest might marry only an Israelite maiden (Lev. xxi. 13-14). In Ezek. xliv.
22 this restriction is extended to all priests, an exception being made in
favor of the widow of a priest.
His Costume.
The ceremonial of consecration included certain rites which all priests
were required to undergo: purification; the sacrifices; the
"filling" of the hands; the smearing with blood. But Aaron the high
priest was anointed with sacred oil, hence the title of the "anointed
priest"; other passages have it that all priests were anointed (Ex.
xxviii. 41, xxx. 30; Lev. vii. 36, x. 7; Num. iii. 3). The high priest's
vestments of office, which he wore, during his ministrations, above those
prescribed for the common priests, were: the "me'il," a sleeveless,
purple robe, the lower hem of which was fringed with small golden bells
alternating with pomegranate tassels in violet, red, purple, and scarlet; the
Ephod, with two onyx-stones on the shoulder-piece, on which were engraved the
names of the tribes of Israel; the breastplate ("ḥoshen"),
with twelve gems, each engraved with the name of one of the tribes; a pouch in
which he probably carried the Urim and Thummim. His Head-Dress was a tiara,
or, perhaps, a peculiarly wound turban, with a peak, the front of which bore a
gold plate with the inscription "Holy unto God."
His girdle seems to have been of more precious material than that of the
common priests.
The first consecration was performed by Moses;
the Bible does not state who consecrated subsequent high priests. Lev. xxi. 10
states emphatically that every new high priest shall be anointed; and Ex. xxix.
29 et seq. commands that the official garments worn by his predecessor shall
be worn by the new incumbent while he is anointed and during the seven days of
his consecration (comp. Num. xx. 28; Ps. cxxxiii. 2).
Sanctity and Functions.
The distinguished rank of the high priest is apparent from the fact that
his sins are regarded as belonging also to the people (Lev. iv. 3, 22). He was
entrusted with the stewardship of the Urim and Thummim (Num. xxvii. 20 et
seq.).
On the Day of Atonement he alone entered the Holy of Holies, to make
atonement for his house and for the people (Lev. xvi.); on that occasion he
wore white linen garments instead of his ordinary and more costly vestments.
He alone could offer the sacrifices for the sins of the priests, or of the
people, or of himself (Lev. iv.); and only he could officiate at the
sacrifices following his own or another priest's consecration (Lev. ix.). He
also offered a meal- offering every morning and evening for himself and the
whole body of the priesthood (Lev. vi. 14-15, though the wording of the law is
not altogether definite).
Powers
The Great Sanhedrin alone had the right to appoint, or confirm the
appointment of, the high priest. His consecration might take place only in the
day-time.
The seventy Geborim
Two high priests must not be appointed together. Every high
priest had a "mishneh" (a second) called the Segan, or "memunneh,"
to stand at his right; another assistant was the "catholicos"

or, the direct failing, the collateral, line, provided the conditions
concerning physical fitness were fulfilled (ib. 20; Ket. 103b; Sifra,
Ḳedoshim). For offenses which entailed flagellation the
high priest could be sentenced by a court
of three; after submitting to the penalty he could resume his office
("Yad," l.c. 22).
These Three which stood for him, He

The high priest was expected to be superior to all other priests in
physique, in wisdom, in dignity, and in material wealth; if he was poor his
brother priests contributed to make him rich (Yoma 18a; "Yad," l.c.
v. 1); but none of these conditions was indispensable. The high priest was
required to be mindful of his honor. He might not mingle with the common
people, nor permit himself to be seen disrobed, or in a public bath, etc.; but
he might invite others to bathe with him (Tosef., Sanh. iv.; "Yad,"
l.c. v. 3). He might not participate in a public banquet, but he might pay a
visit of consolation to mourners, though even then his dignity was guarded by
prescribed etiquette (Sanh. 18-19; "Yad," l.c. v. 4).

that we ought to explore seriously."
