Homosexuality in the Mystery Religions In the ancient pagan Mystery Religions, homosexuality and pedophilia were popularized. Worshippers of Baal erected shrines and temples of male prostitution (I Kings 14). Roman Emperors Nero, Caligula, and Commodus engaged in incest, sex with boys, bondage, and a variety of evil crimes. So, too, did those in Pharaoh's court. Alexander the Great was a homosexual who loved little boys. When the Spanish Conquistadors conquered Central America and the Yucatan in Mexico, they found that most native Indian priests were sodomites. In their pagan temples were sacred statues depicting gay sex acts. In Babylon, people sacrificed and prayed to gods and goddesses requesting sexual favors and carnal pleasures. They and their leader, their Sovereign Grand Master, Frenchman Jacques DeMolay, built temples and tabernacles of worship. Only Knights Templar initiates could enter therein. Soon, reports spread of the grotesque and unseemly mode of worship of these depraved men. Their secret religion was based on worship of an androgynous (1/2 male, 1/2 female) satanic goat god named Baphomet. In the Knights Templar rituals, a crucifix of Jesus was reviled and urinated on, and homosexual orgies were rumored. Strangely, the seal, or coat of arms, of the Order depicted two knights riding on one horse! Was this an emblem of their homosexual passion or, as the Templars protested, a statement of their "brotherly love?" When the rumors and gossip of their antichrist activities reached a feverish pitch, the Kings of continental Europe were forced to move against the Order. Their Sovereign Grand Master, DeMolay, was tried, convicted and burned at the stake, their temples shut down. Amazingly, the Knights Templar survived, hiding out in Scotland and underground in Europe. Then, in the 1800s, they made a startling comeback in the new form of Freemasonry! Today, the Masonic youth group is even named the DeMolays. Bill Clinton, as a teenager, was a member of this organization. Baphomet, the half male, half female goat god of the Knights Templar, was revived by Eliphas Levi, the infamous 19th century Freemason and magician and reportedly is worshipped today by homosexual cults. Communists, Homosexuality, and Perversion Communism, as propounded by satanist Karl Marx, was an offshoot of Templarism. As Jüri Lina documents in his sensational book, Under the Sign of the Scorpion, Vladimir Lenin, the communist monster who founded the bloody communist regime in Soviet Russia, frequented brothels and maintained three mistresses. Laventi Beria, Stalin's decadent Chief of Secret Police, a man who arrested, tortured, imprisoned, and executed some 20 million innocent victims in Russia, was truly a heinous sex criminal. Beria would have his chauffeur drive him around Moscow in a limo evenings searching for a young girl or boy out walking alone. Then, Beria would order his security police to grab and kidnap the hapless youth. What horrible fate transpired to such victims I do not wish to recount here. Obviously, Stalin knew of Beria's evil criminality and had no objections. In 1937 at the House of German Art Museum, Nazi Führer Hitler and Italian dictator Mussolini enjoy a homoerotic exhibit—an immense statue of two naked muscular men holding hands. (For decency's sake, Power of Prophecy has blackened out the genital area of one of the naked men pictured) The Pink Swastika Hitler, Nazi founder, was similarly a sex pervert. As Chancellor, he carried on sexually with his 15-year-old niece, who killed herself rather than continue giving in to his bizarre and beastly sexual fetishes. As a young Bohemian streetwalker and "starving artist," the man who later would rule most of Europe sold his body to gay men. Hitler is noted as a fanatical fan of Wagnerian operas. Less known is the fact that before he rose to become the Fuhrer, in the 1920s, Hitler sexually abused Richard Wagner's grandson, Wieland Wagner (Time magazine, August 15, 1994, p. 56). Hitler, of course, was catapulted to power largely by the Brown Shirts (SA), a fascist youth organization led by and composed primarily of "butch" type homosexual militarists. The head of the thuggish Brown Shirts was Ernst Roehm, who was a notorious molester of young boys. Roehm was executed by Hitler after his sexual excesses became widely known. As Scott Lively writes in his revealing book, The Pink Swastika-Homosexuality and the Nazi Party, "Homosexuals are the perfect foot soldiers for the devil." Interestingly, Hitler and his henchmen intensely disliked feminine gay men, even sent many to concentration camps. The Nazis preferred masculine, butch, soldier-types-like Field Marshall Reinhard Heydrich-willing to take orders. On the other hand, in Soviet Russia, the Communists and Bolsheviks favored gay Jews with female traits and affectations. Religious Sodomites are Legion Religious fakes who are sodomites predominate. Jim Bakker, PTL televangelist disgraced and defrocked for sexually abusing church secretary Jessica Hahn, actually preferred young boys. He frequently had young homo staffers go swimming nude with he and his top aides. Like Bakker, Assembly of God television preacher Jimmy Swaggert also was a sexual deviant-reportedly into porno literature, trampy prostitutes, etc. He stayed away from real sex with real women-desired bizarre acts. Satan loves to debauch religious charlatans. A headline in The Houston Chronicle newspaper, page one of its May 9, 1999 issue, trumpeted, "Mormons Caught up in Wave of Pedophile Accusations." In fact, Power of Prophecy has received startling information about satanic rituals and pedophile Mormon elders in the so-called Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). No Wonder! Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, Mormon founders, took numerous wives, and Smith was an occultist and sexual pervert of the highest order, as even many of his biographers confess. Some of my Rabbinic colleagues and I paid a visit to Archbishop Chaput,  this past Thursday.  The Archbishop has been very busy in the past year,  but for him,  it was time to meet the leadership of the religious Jewish community.   The Archbishop is a very gracious host and a warm human being.  It was a fun meeting;  but it started out very slow.

We began the conversation talking about global Catholic-Jewish relations.  Yes,  we were all concerned about Vatican/Israel relations.   We all expressed our appreciation for  the Pope’s recent visit to our Holy Land.  We were all happy and pleased that this Pope has made improving Jewish-Catholic relations a primary tenet of his two decades of service to Catholics worldwide.

We also thanked the Archbishop for his statement of apology written to the IJN,  some months ago where,  following the lead of Cardinal O’Conner of New York:  a truly wonderful man,  may he rest in peace,  the Archbishop extended apologies for all the atrocities committed against Jews and others,  perpetrated by the Church.    We were pleased with his letter,  he was pleased that we were pleased and then we all sat there pleased but wondering what we were going to talk about for next hour. 

You see,  in Denver,  Catholic-Jewish relations are good;  there is understanding here amongst the clergy of the two religious faiths.  There really is not much to talk about with the Archbishop regarding our relationship accept to be grateful that it is good one.

Thankfully,  the Archbishop broke the silence and threw out an interesting question.  He asked:  “what do Jews think of Catholics?  Do they see us as a wayward son,  a heretic,  a sect that broke away from Judaism;  a group that made a mistake in interpreting the Bible?  How do you see us, he asked?  For we see you,  at least since Vatican II,  as our older brothers.  To you,  the Jewish people,  G-d gave the Torah,  the Bible and from that Bible, we founded our religion.  We want to learn from you,  our older brothers:  but how do you see us? 

So as you can imagine,  things began to get a little heavy,  at that point and we all sat there thinking what would be said next. 

So what would you say to the archbishop?  How do you understand the Jewish relationship with other religious faiths;  from a theological perspective.    If Judaism is right,  does that necessarily mean that Christianity,  and Islam are just plain wrong?  

Whoooooey, Talmudic Judaism is a religion unto the dragon the "Replacement Theology" for the Root of God is the REDEEMER from the First, and they say the Redeemer is in Hell boiling in Excrement, and their god who is no GOD has no ONLY Begotten Son the REDEEMER.

It was an interesting question certainly in light of our history in which, the Jewish people were persecuted  by the Church and by Christians for some 15 centuries.

  And the reason that Jews were persecuted is that they didn’t accept the teachings of the Church regarding the divinity of Jesus.   In fact,  the Jewish community, so goes the Catholic understanding before Vatican II,   had a hand in Jesus’s death back in the 1^st century.

But Vatican II,  the official doctrines of the Church have seen Judaism as the older brother religion of their faith:

 to be respected and honored as such.  It also condemned any form of persecution,  or anti-semitism against the Jewish people.     So with Vatican II,   the Catholics revised and improved their theological understanding of Judaism.    But what has not been spelled out so clearly in a public way,  is how Jews look at Catholics and other non-Jews. 

From the Jewish perspective,  Christian theology is largely irrelevant to Jewish life.  It is an interesting conversation which I will get back to;  but according to Jewish law,   non-Jews can believe pretty much anything they want.  

The specific body of law I am referring to now regarding the actions of non-Jews are from Midrashim of the book of genesis.   The Rabbis understood from the story of Adam and the story of Noah:  

Mt:23:8: But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

that G-d gave these two men basic laws of moral behavior:  which,  since Adam and Noah are the progenitors  of the entire human race,  these laws are incumbent upon all members of the human race: Jews and non-Jews alike.

We find in Masechet Sanhedrin,  that these laws are called “sheva mitzvot benai noach”:  the seven commandments incumbent on the sons of Noah.    And they consist of 6 prohibitions and 1 positive injunction and they are: 

1.   The prohibition against the practice of idolatry (that is,  not the idea of idolatry but specific acts done in the service to false gods.  

2.   The prohibition is against blasphemy:  or defaming the name of god.

3.   Murder. 

4.   Forbidden sexual relationship (adultery, incest and so on). 

5.   Theft. 

6.   Eating a limb torn from a live animal.  

7.   And finally,  the injunction:  the sons of Noah must establish a legal system to encourage and monitor the observance of the first 6 laws.

Now there was some controversy among Rabbinic scholars as to whether Christians, believing in the trinity, and acting out rituals to symbolize this belief, transgressed the first of the Noahide laws against idolatry.  It was discussed in the Talmud but it was ultimately decided upon, once and for all, by later Halachic authorities.  Their understanding is that the trinity (they called it Shituff or associationsm) was, in fact, not the worship of multiple gods and therefore acceptable under the Noahide laws.

So in that sense, a Christian who doesn’t murder or steal or commit sexual improprieties and lives under a moral legal system,

is considered in the Jewish codes as a righteous person.   

Mt:23:28: Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Lk:5:32: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 18:

9: And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11: The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12: I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13: And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14: I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

The Rambam states that  non-Jews (this includes Muslims, by the way)  who observe the Noahide laws have their place in the world to come and they are among the  “hasidei u’mot haolam,”  the righteous of the nations of the world. 

So Halachically,  we could have answered the Archbishop this past Wednesday morning by saying to him,  in our view,  a good Catholic is considered a righteous gentile,  is considered to be among  the righteous of the world;  and in the end of days,  when the Messiah (Moshiach false Christ) comes,  they will have their place in heaven.  That is how the Halacha understands the Archbishops parishioners.  That is how Jews understand all people who are not Jews.

But there is something else the Archbishop was getting at here.   He wanted to know what we really thought of Catholics;  not legally speaking,  but rather,  theologically speaking.  What did we think about Jesus,  about the coming of the Messiah and so on.    He wanted to know if we thought his theology was flawed in some way.  And our answer to him,  was,  No.

From our legal and theological perspective,  there  is nothing wrong or incorrect or misguided about a Catholic believing as Catholics do.  A Jew believing the way Catholics believe is misguided for there are logical,  legal and theological inconsistencies between the two faiths.   But the Jews don’t think Catholics or any non-Jewish faiths are wrong:  they just approach G-d in their own way,  as we approach G-d in our own way.

So to the archbishop,  we said as much.  Jews should hold great respect for Christianity and Islam:   they should hold great respect for Christians and Muslims who take their religion seriously.   Neither Christians nor Muslims are wrong in their faith as long as their interpretation of faith allows for others who believe differently.    G-d cares about Jews and non Jews:   G-d cares about every human being. 

Jn:6:51: I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Jn:11:25: Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Jn:14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If I have learned anything in my life to date,  I have learned that those who are so sure of their religious position,  to the point of not tolerating other religious forms,   can themselves never genuinely commit to their own religious faith.  By this I mean that arrogance and self-righteousness in any faith,  is incompatible with piety.   Seeing the wrongness in another faith makes you blind to the rightness in your own.

Archbishop Chaput is a good man.  I wish him only good luck and good health during his tenure in Denver.   We have a lot we can learn from each other:  not to convince or argue with one another,  but to share  ideas and values with mutual respect and admiration.

May the peace and understanding between the faiths in Denver only improve as we move forward into our futures.   In my mind,  that is clearly what G-d wants of us.

PURE Sickness, Treason and Blasphemy

Rambam (Hil. Melachim 9:14) claims that the commandment of dinim refers to an obligation for Bnei Noach to establish courts in every city and jurisdiction for the purpose of enforcing the other six laws. Thus, the people of Shechem were held responsible for the fact that they watched their prince steal Dina and did nothing to stop him. The Chasdei David sharpens this point by noting that Rambam seems to place this obligation of justice on everyone and not just on the rulers or the judges. Several Rishonim question this last point, asking why the judges would not have been the ones responsible, since it was their place to carry out the laws and punish Shechem. Ran answers that they had a status of oneis, i.e. they could not prosecute him since his position gave him power over their lives. The Ohr HaChaim invokes the general principle that a king is not judged (see Sanhedrin 18a), and thus while the judges were free from their obligation based on this technicality, the people still had an obligation to stop Shechem from abducting Dina. Rav Shach, in his Avi Ezri, notes on this point that the real commandment of dinim is "to judge," and the appointing of judges is merely a suggestion as to how this commandment can be carried out. As such, the judges were mere objects of the commandment and the obligation was in fact incumbent on all of the people.

Ramban, in his commentary to Genesis, strongly objects to the view of Rambam. He claims that if the view of Rambam were correct, then Yaakov himself should have killed the people of Shechem (a Ben Noach who violates one of his seven laws incurs the death penalty in all cases) and certainly should not have rebuked his children for their actions. Thus, says Ramban, the commandment is actually of a different nature. In reality, the commandment of dinim is an expansive one that includes many aspects of the civil code, and parenthetically it includes the need to set up courts. However, under this construct the people of Shechem did not really violate this commandment. Rather, Shimon and Levi used the fact that the people of Shechem were idolaters as a pretext for killing them, and Yaakov's opposition stemmed from the fact that he did not feel that it was the duty of his children to be the police force for the world.

How do we approach this argument between Rambam and Ramban? Beyond the fact that each one has to design their own way of interpreting the story of Dina, is there a deeper level to their argument, a level that will bring us to a better understanding of the nature of this law? There obviously is, and to see it in a clearer light, we must first highlight the differences between their opinions a bit more. First, we must ask if there is a specific commandment for Bnei Noach to appoint judges. According to Rambam, that is the whole commandment of dinim, while according to Ramban there is no such commandment, but rather it is merely a logical outgrowth of the need to have a civil code. The reverse of this is that according to Rambam, there is no obligation for Bnei Noach to have an enforceable civil code, but rather the judges are charged with protecting merely the other six laws. The Lechem Mishne objects to this, showing that this view of Rambam is inconsistent with much of the continuation of the gemara in Sanhedrin.

A second approach is outlined by Ramo in a responsa (#10). He claims that both sides agree that there is a responsibility to judge monetary matters and civil issues. However, for Rambam, this falls under the heading of the prohibition to steal, while for Ramban this is the commandment of dinim. He bases this analysis on the argument in the gemara over which word in Bereishit 2:16 serves as the basis for the law of dinim. According to the view that the word "va-yetzav" (and He commanded) is the source, the law of dinim is merely for Bnei Noach to have a court system, but what laws they enforce will be decided, to some extent, by their sovereigns. However, according to the view that the word "Elokim" is the source, the commandment includes all of the Jewish civil code as well, as that word has the implication of Hashem as judge. The Chatam Sofer (responsa 6:14) rejects this notion of Ramo as irrelevant to the debate. He claims that according to the view of Rambam, the people of Shechem were liable to the death penalty even though there was no court that could actually carry out that punishment. Thus, Shimon and Levi were theoretically justified in their actions, and Yaakov's rebuke stemmed from his disagreeing to their assumption of the role of enforcers.

What, then, is the actual commandment of dinim? Taking the views of the Avi Ezri and the Chatam Sofer together, we arrive at the notion that there is a mitzvah for Bnei Noach to judge, and if they fail to carry out this commandment they are subject to the death penalty. What is the nature of this law? According to Meiri, Bnei Noach are charged with preventing perversion and corruption in society and thus with the upkeep of the world. Rashi refers to their obligation as one of "justice." The key here, as explained by the responsa Sho'el U'Meishiv, is that while they have this responsibility, and while they can perhaps be punished for failing to execute it, their failure to do so does not create any liability in Heaven. What is meant by that is that when a Jew sins, not only does he have to face certain delineated consequences in this world, but his sin also makes an indelible mark on his soul and his entire existence. A Ben Noach does not have to deal with such metaphysical notions - he is charged with safeguarding the world, and his not doing so hurts him only insofar as he has "let the world down."

Finally, we can explain why a Ben Noach is punished with death for violating any of their commandments, whereas a Jew who performs a similar infraction does not always receive such a harsh punishment. Since the Ben Noach is given these commandments to uphold the world, by not following them he has contributed to the breakdown of society and the world at large. As such, he has already removed himself from the world, and his responsible position in it, and the resultant death penalty is merely a natural outgrowth and expression of his actions.

Whereas in tribute to this great spiritual leader, `the rebbe', this, his ninetieth year will be seen as one of `education and giving', the year in which we turn to education and charity to return the world to the moral and ethical values contained in the Seven Noahide Laws; and
