NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 8 - Waters were receding across this flood-beaten city today as police officers began confiscating weapons, including legally registered firearms, from civilians in preparation for a mass forced evacuation of the residents still living here.

But that order apparently does not apply to hundreds of security guards hired by businesses and some wealthy individuals to protect property. The guards, employees of private security companies like Blackwater, openly carry M-16's and other assault rifles. Mr. Compass said that he was aware of the private guards, but that the police had no plans to make them give up their weapons.

Nearly two weeks after the floods began, New Orleans has turned into an armed camp, patrolled by thousands of local, state, and federal

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

Texe Marrs Followers of two great and monstrous religions are today locked in a monumental struggle and contest for global supremacy. Each is evil to the core. Each is destined ultimately for the flames of hell. The two are Judaism and Islam. The leaders and devotee's of Judaism and Islam hate and despise each other intensely. They wish only harm to come to the other. They are like two scorpions in a bottle, circling, dueling and fighting to the death for limited space, for land, for Jihad.   Both Judaism and Islam reject the world's only true religion, Christianity. Judaism's holiest book, the Jewish Talmud, declares that Jesus was a blasphemer who, today, as punishment, is burning in hell in fiery excrement. The Koran, the holiest book of the Moslems, is more charitable and kind to our Saviour. The Koran teaches that Jesus is not the Son of God, but does portray Him as a lower-level prophet and messenger. However, this in no way makes Islam any less evil, or less satanic a religion. Islam unashamedly comes with a sword. The prophet Mohammed, in the Koran, instructs his disciples to make war on unbelievers. Judaism also makes use of the sword. It's state sponsor, Israel, armed to the teeth by the United States, readily kills, maims and terrorizes weaker opponents. Meanwhile, its propaganda (ADL, ACLU, B'nai B'rith) and commercial arms (media, banks and corporations) smash and destroy opposition by influencing public opinion and wielding the money weapon. Goals Are Identical Islam wishes to drive Jews and Christians out of its lands. If it had the power, Islam would conquer all the earth. Judaism is no different. Its Jewish advocates have as their immediate goal the oppression and ouster of Moslems and Christians from its captured territories in Israel, the intermediate goal of conquering and ruling all the Middle East, and the long-term goal of ruling over all nations on earth. The Jewish Talmud tells Jews it's their destiny. The Talmud assures the racist Jews that they are "gods," superior to the Gentiles, whom the Rabbis look down on and brand as goyim (cattle). In sum, both Judaism and Islam have a hellish, war-making and destructive theology that is far, far removed from that of Christianity. The New Testament urges Christians to be peacemakers. ("Blessed are the Meek"—Jesus) and to love their enemies. The Talmud and the Koran both say, in essence, go out and seize. Plunder! If there is a distinction in theology, the more favorable, more altruistic intent would have to be on the side of Islam. The Moslems are commanded to make Allah (not God—Allah) the focus of their lives. The Jews religion and theology persuades them that they collectively are God! Truly, what we have here, on international display, are two deadly scorpions coming up out of a bottle. It would have been best to keep both the scorpions in that bottle but, stupidly, America has removed the cork on the bottle and the two have now come forth, boldly springing into action before our eyes. America Empowers One of the Scorpions It is sad and tragic, indeed, that America, as a nation, has decided to take sides. We have opted to boost, support, and lift to the pinnacle of global power one of these two scorpions. The Jews, with their wicked Talmud, is that favored scorpion—a pet scorpion, if you will. A pet of America that is constantly tended, fed, comforted, and sheltered. As a consequence, the Judaic scorpion has grown like a Rottweiler dog, muscular and mean, vicious and domineering, murderous and thieving. But tyrant though it is, the pet scorpion of Israel and the Jews is always patted on the head and regularly fed even more tasty morsels. "Good boy!" says our Congress and White House, to the gloating, overfed, grossly belligerent, ever more aggressive Judaic scorpion. The Islamic scorpion, on the other hand, is left hungry, thirsty, emaciated, weak, barely able to function. It is continually attacked on every side by Israeli bombs and bullets and by marauding American military forces. Strangely, the American public is taught to fear this pitiful creature, slightly armed as it is with weapons barely better than those available to Neanderthal cave men—rocks, slings, home-made bombs strapped to young peoples' waists. Meanwhile, the Judaic scorpion struts and parades about with high-tech military tanks, F-16 jet aircraft, missiles, rockets, nuclear submarines, and up to 400 atomic bombs! A Leviathan monster, indeed, as coming days will surely reveal. Yet, the American public are propagandized to believe that the Jewish juggernaut desires only peace, love, and harmony and wants to see its poor Arab cousins prosper and thrive. Good little scorpion, that Israel! But the scorpions' foul works and bloody deeds do not prove so altruistic. Osama vs Ariel Osama bin Laden is leader, we are told, of the Islamic scorpion. Inflicted with kidney disease, on kidney machine-dialysis, Osama is pictured on TV limping, cane in hand, walking along a crooked and difficult mountain path somewhere in Afghanistan. His enemy, Ariel Sharon, meanwhile, head of the Judaic scorpion, rules the roost of a rich, socialist, U.S. taxpayer funded nation bristling with helicopter gunships and cordoned off with military guards, its prison cells packed with Islamic prisoners in various states of being tortured.   Osama bin Laden and Ariel Sharon are the leaders of the two scorpion factions, the Moslems and the Jews. Odd, isn't it, how Americans are taught to love and embrace an over-stuffed and greedy Ariel Sharon—and to fear and hate a lean and desperate Osama bin Laden. Strange how propaganda works. Illuminati's Three World Wars Yet, all of this was planned long, long ago. In the 19th century, the Illuminati's leaders, Pike and Mazzini, mapped out three great world wars to come. World War III, it was determined, would be centered in the Middle East. Devastating, it would consist of a cataclysmic conflict between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Out of this brutal conflict would come Satan's leader, the Son of Perdition, (Moshiach) to lead a cabalistic Jewish Kingdom of unending evil. Amazing, is it not, that this Illuminati scenario is now being rapidly fulfilled to the letter? How stupid can people be? Americans have been brainwashed into believing they can forestall the evil to come and make the world safe for democracy by making war with Islam while prospering the Jews and Judaism. In fact, the Bible has little to say about Arabs and Islam but a lot to say about wicked Israel and the Jews. The scriptures warn that latter days Israel and the Jews are "scornful men" who "have made a covenant with death" and who have entered into "an agreement with hell." (Isaiah 28:15). The Lord also says the leaders of Jerusalem have made "lies" their refuge. God declares that the Jewish nation and people are so wicked that God spiritually calls them "Sodom and Egypt." (Revelation 11:8). No Feeding of Pet Scorpions! Now, considering God's harsh judgment on the Jews and on Israel, you'd think that Americans, especially American evangelical Christians, would refrain from praising, feeding, helping and supporting the Judaic scorpion. You'd think they'd cast the pet scorpion out into the street and shy away from it. After all, scorpions can sting and hurt and America, having befriended the Judaic scorpion, is at risk. But, the evangelical Christians have been beguiled by the pet scorpion (Paul called it "bewitched"—see Galatians 1). Whatever the Judaic scorpion wants, the Judaic scorpion gets. The evangelical leadership sees to that. If even one morsel of food is not offered up by Washington D.C. politicians to the scorpion beast, the evangelicals cry out in protest. The Judaic scorpion, they say, is God's pet as well as ours. Feed it. Comfort it. Defend it. Give it more Islamic meat. Elevate its neocon representatives to the highest seats of U.S. government. Set the scorpion on the throne of world power. Exalt it as the Almighty Creature destined to rule over us all. If the evangelicals get their way, "God's Chosen," the Jews, shall ever rise upward and onward. All praises to the Judaic Scorpion! But God Has Set a Different Destiny Ah, but God has a far different future and destiny in store for the Judaic scorpion. He has already judged it. His Word declares that the Synagogue of Satan, which supports the scorpion, is vile, fraudulent, murderous, and rebellious. Therefore, His judgement has already been set, and God's prophecy will be hewn to the line:   "...and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands." (Deuteronomy 31:29) Evil shall come to the Judaic Scorpion in the latter days, says God. The Evangelical apostates are dead wrong. The Judaic scorpion beast is not God's pet. He is not of God at all. God would never favor a religion, a people, and a political system which rejects and scornfully and spitefully calls His Son a bastard and a blasphemer, as Judaism has done. To God "belongeth vengeance and recompense." That is the "latter end" of the hate-filled Jewish nation that has rejected the Lord God (Deuteronomy 32:29, 35-36). You can take this prophecy to the bank, my friends. It shall not fail. True it is that as individuals, Jews can be saved. So can Arabs and Palestinians. God is no respecter of persons. He will graft into His Kingdom every Gentile and every Jew who repents of his evil ways and believes in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. But all who refuse are damned. Believe it. I warn you: Do not be in close proximity to the Judaic Scorpion when its time for judgement is at hand. You, too, will be destroyed along with it. Do not yoke yourself with either the Jewish or the Islamic unbelievers, or you will share their fate.   Heads to Roll In their Talmud's Noahide Laws, the Jews boast that once they have grabbed hold of the reigns of world power, they will chop the heads off all Christians and Moslems. They say we are idolaters and blasphemers. Likewise, even today, in many Moslem countries, innocent men and women who preach Jesus or convert to Christianity, often have their heads cut off. Yes, that is the punishment—beheading—that is meted out by the despicable Imams who today oversee Islam:   "...and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image..." (Revelation 20:4) Satan's two scorpions, Jews and Moslems, are both raring to get at Christian flesh. They lust to tear at it like a ravenous double-headed eagle ripping away at a pound of raw meat. This beast is Leviathan, that beast is Behemoth (Job 40). Two beasts, One Master (Satan), just as Revelation 13 describes, two end-time beasts, one from out of the sea, the other ascending out of the earth, yet both under dominion of the Dragon. Two beasts, two deadly night creatures, two scorpions, previously together in one bottle but now rising up to do their hideous works. That is what we have. Now you, my friends, must decide. Favor the scorpion beast, either beast, and its fate shall be your own. You and it shall be taken together and cast into the lake of fire that burneth forever. Remember: If you embrace a skeleton to your breast, be quite sure, you will end up dancing with it.

Report: Armed Mexican Troops Invade US
Eyewitnesses: Under cover of aid, combat ready soldiers roll into Texas, Congressman Ron Paul says Mexican troops in US period is "illegal, unconstitutional"

Two separate credible sources known to Alex Jones have reported that armed combat ready Mexican troops have entered Texas.

The Associated Press reported today that unarmed Mexican troops were being escorted by the US army to help relief efforts for hurricane Katrina.

However, the report was only specific to one convoy. The convoys reported to Alex Jones are said to be fully armed with Heckler & Koch German assault rifles.

The first sighting occurred at 12:30 on Highway 183 traveling towards Austin. The eyewitness described at least ten vehicles, four jeeps (other witnesses described them as Humvees) and six combat trucks brimming with armed Mexican troops wearing body armor, helmets and rifles. The troops riding in the jeeps were wearing holstered hand guns.

Have no problem with murdering "Amarakans", while your American Soldiers are out of town.

The vehicles were not being escorted by the US army or any other government vehicles and the vehicles were festooned with insignia reading 'Mexico MP's' and the Mexican flag.

The second sighting of a similar nature occurred north of Austin on I35 near Georgetown Texas.

Prison Planet contacted Congressman Ron Paul's office whose district is in Texas and the Congressman's response was, "any Mexican troops here period is illegal and unconstitutional."

Another source known to Alex Jones called the Austin Police Department and they said that they knew about the armed troops. The police asked if the troops had threatened the caller. The caller said they threaten the sovereignty of the country and the police laughed and hung up.

DPS Spokeswoman Lisa Block was the only person to answer any questions on the issue and she said that the main convoy of 45 vehicles, that was escorted by the Us Army and Texas state police, arrived in San Antonio at around 4:30pm on Thursday at the San Antonio Air Force Base formerly known as Old Kelly, now known as Kelly USA.

Alex Jones stated that there were multiple convoys scheduled to enter Texas today. Block stated that she had no knowledge of that. Regardless of how many Mexican troops are here or whether they are indeed armed as witnesses have stated, there's absolutely no need for them. Aid is literally cramming warehouses in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. The problem is that FEMA will not deliver it to the estimated 10,000 victims of Katrina, who have refused to leave New Orleans. FEMA already stated three days ago that these people would not receive any food or water. Many of these residents are middle class homeowners who would not have their families broken up in the first days of the rescue as the authorities demanded or more often they refused to leave their beloved pets behind. A small percentage are opportunistic criminals who want to continue looting.

Subsequently Prison Planet contacted the Larado border patrol station and asked the officer who answered the phone what his name was. He would only say that it was 'Robbie'. We asked if the Mexican troops that entered the US today were armed and he said "of course they are, what's the big deal." We then asked for his superior and were transferred to deputy chief Bill Jenkins and asked him if any of the convoys crossing into the US from Nuervo Larado were armed and he, in an agitated tone, said, "negative, negative, negative."

The bottom line is that we need answers and we need them now. We are in the process of contacting the Mexican consulate in Austin, FEMA and the FBI. Everyone else should contact them until we get some answers.

The amount of energy being expended in shepherding and handling the Mexican troops is greater than any aid they can render. We don't need their help.

The very notion that these troops are entering Texas to provide aid directly contradicts the fact that Alex Jones personally visited Austin Convention Center and saw piles of food and clothes lined up for refugees.

In other areas, aid is desperately required because FEMA has been deliberately sabotaging relief efforts. The LA Times reported today that "scores of police and volunteer firefighters from around the nation, as well as trucks loaded with donated water, were even now being prevented from entering New Orleans while troops conduct house-to-house searches."

FEMA has also been cutting communication lines. Sheriffs in several counties of New Orleans have set up armed guard patrols to prevent FEMA from further actions of sabotage.

FEMA has therefore intentionally created the climate for the justification of foreign troops entering the US.

Regarding the convoys, the Associated Press article stated,

"Army press office employee Francisco Aguilar said he did not have details of the convoy's precise location. It originally was scheduled to arrive in Houston to provide food for evacuees, but apparently had been rerouted to Dallas."

If the army does not know the location of the convoys or why they are heading for Dallas, beside the fact that they are armed, isn't that an issue of national security?

The fact that the Mexican soldiers are armed reminds us of a July 2004 incident where Mexican soldiers interrupted the funeral in Mexico of a U.S. Marine killed in Iraq (pictured).

Mexican soldiers confronted US marines and blocked their path because the Marines were carrying two replica ceremonial rifles.

The Mexicans won't allow Marines to carry toy guns in their country and yet have the audacity to cruise through Texas armed to the teeth with assault weapons and nothing is done.

Mexican troops have also been caught on numerous occasions firing on US border patrol agents and civilians.

This is part of a steady conditioning process to make Americans accept foreign troops. Alex Jones has attended numerous urban warfare drills where US Marines are made to train with foreign troops.

Scottish residents complained in September 2003 after armed Ukrainian soldiers under NATO set up checkpoints and pulled families out of their cars during an exercise.

Security agreements have been signed allowing foreign troops to enter the US and vice versa. This is part of the incremental push to use foreign troops on US soil to order US citizens around in times of emergency.

Today's Associated Press article is wrong in stating that this is the first time Mexican troops have entered the US since 1846. Alex Jones has personally attended urban warfare training drills across the country where Mexican troops have been present.

This is the only photo currently being carried by AP/Reuters showing the Mexican convoys. This is a convoy near Laredo, heading to San Antonio. it is important to make the distinction that some conveys such as this one are not armed but some, according to our eyewtinesses, are armed with assault rifles.

Why do the Mexican troops need guns? What message does that send? If the troops are only going to Dallas and San Antonio, and not New Orleans, then why do they need to be armed?

The convoys entered via the border city of Nuevo Laredo last night, an area that has seen violent running battles between Mexican police and the brutal los Zetas gang that has killed officers and kidnapped US citizens. The town of Nuevo Laredo is basically under a state of siege, causing the US to close their consulate in the city on August 8th, after bazookas, grenades and machine guns bombarded nearby buildings. Gov. Janet Napolitano of Arizona declared a state of emergency and the death toll just in the last few months has reached 600 but the mainstream media is largely ignoring the story.

We are asking people to call the state police to interdict and determine if these forces are indeed armed and if their guns have ammunition or if their weapons are ceremonial (which is doubtful).

We have already tried calling the contact number in the AP story, the Governor's office, the Pentagon and Northcom with absolutely no response. The AP article admits that the army does not know where the convoys are. It is important that we pinpoint the exact locations of these convoys and demand immediate disarmament of the Mexican soldiers.

The Noahide laws, also called the Brit Noah (Covenant of Noah) are the mitzvot (commandments) and halakhot (laws) that Judaism teaches that all non-Jews are morally bound to follow. Origin

According to the Biblical narrative, the Deluge covered the whole world killing everyone except Noah and his family and the creatures of the ark. After the flood, God seals a convenant with Noah with the following admonitions (Genesis 9):

Other authorities do not make this distinction.

Subdividing the seven laws

Various rabbinic sources have different positions on the way the seven laws are to be subdivided in categories. Maimonides (Melakhim 10:6) lists one additional Noahide commandment forbidding the coupling of different kinds of animals and the mixing of trees. Radbaz expressed surprise that he left out castration and sorcery which were listed in Baraita (Sanhedrin 56B). The tenth century Rabbi Saadia Gaon added tithes

Nissim Gaon included listening to God's  (SaTan) Voice, knowing God and serving God besides going on to say that all religious acts which can be understood through human reasoning are obligatory upon Jew and Gentile alike. The sixteenth century work Asarah Maamarot by Rabbi Menahem Azariah of Fano (Rema mi-Fano) enumerates thirty commandments, listing the latter twenty-three as extensions of the original seven.

Another commentator (Kol Hidushei Maharitz Chayess I, end Ch. 10) suggests these are not related to the first seven, nor based on Scripture, but were passed down by tradition.

The contemporary Rabbi Dr. Aaron Lichtenstein counts 66 instructions but Rabbi Harvey Falk has suggested that much work remains to be done in order to properly identify all of the Noahide Commandments, their divisions and subdivisions.

Theft, robbery, and stealing covers the appropriate understanding of other persons, their property, and their rights. The establishment of courts of justice promotes the value of the responsibility of a corporate society of people to enforce these laws, and define these terms. The refusal to engage in unnecessary lust or cruelty demonstrates respect for the Creation itself, as renewed after the Flood. To not do murder would include human sacrifice as being forbidden.

David Novak, among others, has proposed that Noahide Law could serve as the basis for a more universal Jewish ethics and for cross-cultural moral reasoning (at least with Christians and Moslems).

In recent years some non-Jews have tried to create organized Noahide religious movements, but being a Noahide has never been considered to be part of an organized religion.

This view was accepted by R. Moses Isserles (Rema, Orah Hayyim 156:1.) In any case, in this view Christian theology is not forbidden to gentiles, and all Christians are Noahides. Today most of Reform and Conservative Judaism view all Christians as Noahides.

 They are never explicitly enumerated in the Bible, but the covenant that God made with Noah (Genesis 9) contains these admonitions:

A common tradition (mentioned in the Talmud) is that six were given to Adam and Eve in Paradise and one to Noah in Genesis chapter 9.

In the story of Noah we see mention of Sacrifice, Kashrut, and "Uncovered Nakedness" (a biblical euphemism for incest within a patriarch's family). In the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9) Heaven puts an end to the experiment in dictatorship (indicated by the phrases "the people is one") when it had replaced the plurality intended in the original Law-Court system. Others have interpreted it that the command for a plural legal system instead of any dictatorial system was initiated at this time.

 

Christian criticism

Christian critics of the Noahide laws contend that insisting upon a basic set of moral laws is contrary to religious pluralism. Some believe that their existence implies that Jews may set up a legal system that would outlaw Christianity. The Jewish community responds by noting that it makes laws and customs for its own members (like all faiths) and does not set up governments to force Jewish beliefs on non-Jews; in contrast, some non-Jewish faiths have carried out such actions in practice. In addition, with their minimal threshold of morality, the Noahide law may be compared to Catholic social teachings.

The Sanhedrin's Catholicos of Nimrod

While most Christians would consider the Ten Commandments to be binding on them and would see some of the Noahide laws as essentially a subset of these (though the requirement to set up courts, and the dietary regulation, are not explicit in the commandments), many Jewish thinkers consider Noahide Laws as "general categories of commandments, each containing many components and details," the execution of which is left to Jewish rabbis. This, in addition to the teaching of the Jewish law that punishment for violating one of the seven Noahide Laws includes a theoretical death penalty (Talmud, tractate Sanhedrin 57a), is a factor in the opposition of the notion of a Noahide legal system. The Jewish community responds by noting that Jews today no longer carry out the death penalty,

Christian adoption of the Noahide Laws?

The term "Early Jewish Christians" is often used in discussing the Early History of Christianity. Jesus, his Apostles, the Elders, and all or essentially all of his early followers were Jewish or Jewish Proselytes.

A few weeks ago, a senior Greek Orthodox clergyman in Israel attended a meeting at a government office in Jerusalem's Givat Shaul quarter. When he returned to his car, an elderly man wearing a skullcap came and knocked on the window. When the clergyman let the window down, the passerby spat in his face.

 

The clergyman prefered not to lodge a complaint with the police and told an acquaintance that he was used to being spat at by Jews. Many Jerusalem clergy have been subjected to abuse of this kind. For the most part, they ignore it but sometimes they cannot.

 

On Sunday, a fracas developed when a yeshiva student spat at the cross being carried by the Armenian Archbishop during a procession near the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City. The archbishop's 17th-century cross was broken during the brawl and he slapped the yeshiva student.

 

Both were questioned by police and the yeshiva student will be brought to trial. The Jerusalem District Court has meanwhile banned the student from approaching the Old City for 75 days.

 

But the Armenians are far from satisfied by the police action and say this sort of thing has been going on for years. Archbishop Nourhan Manougian says he expects the education minister to say something.

 

"When there is an attack against Jews anywhere in the world, the Israeli government is incensed, so why when our religion and pride are hurt, don't they take harsher measures?" he asks.

 

According to Daniel Rossing, former adviser to the Religious Affairs Ministry on Christian affairs and director of a Jerusalem center for Christian-Jewish dialogue, there has been an increase in the number of such incidents recently, "as part of a general atmosphere of lack of tolerance in the country."

 

Rossing says there are certain common characeristics from the point of view of time and location to the incidents. He points to the fact that there are more incidents in areas where Jews and Christians mingle, such as the Jewish and Armenian quarters of the Old City and the Jaffa Gate.

 

There are an increased number at certain times of year, such as during the Purim holiday."I know Christians who lock themselves indoors during the entire Purim holiday," he says.

 

Former adviser to the mayor on Christian affairs, Shmuel Evyatar, describes the situation as "a huge disgrace." He says most of the instigators are yeshiva students studying in the Old City who view the Christian religion with disdain.

 

"I'm sure the phenomenon would end as soon as rabbis and well-known educators denounce it. In practice, rabbis of yeshivas ignore or even encourage it," he says.

 

Evyatar says he himself was spat at while walking with a Serbian bishop in the Jewish quarter, near his home. "A group of yeshiva students spat at us and their teacher just stood by and watched."

 

Jerusalem municipal officials said they are aware of the problem but it has to be dealt with by the police. Shmuel Ben-Ruby, the police spokesman, said they had only two complaints from Christians in the past two years. He said that, in both cases, the culprits were caught and punished.

 

He said the police deploy an inordinately high number of patrols and special technology in the Old City and its surroundings in an attempt to keep order.

Catholic teachers 'bear witness' through Israel trip

Some 30 Catholic school teachers from across the United States are in Israel for an in-depth course on anti-Semitism sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League. The teachers were selected from almost 500 who have already participated in workshops in the US based on the same program.

This program, called "Bearing Witness", is different from other efforts in which the ADL and other Jewish groups are already engaged to cultivate positive relationships with Christians in that it aims at the grassroots level rather than official representatives.

Also, it focuses on teachers because of their role in shaping the moral education of young Catholics.

The idea, said project originator David Friedman, is "not to leave the heroism of Righteous Gentiles to chance... [but to] educate a generation of Catholics dedicated to living the changes [in Catholic-Jewish relations] that the Vatican has initiated" over the past 40 years.

Karen Brady from Tucson, Arizona, is one of the participants on the trip. Like many of her colleagues, she also joined the ADL for a four-day trip to Poland this past spring. Unlike most, however, she spoke at the OSCE's conference on anti-Semitism in Cordoba, Spain, in June, explaining how Bearing Witness has made an impact on her and her diocese.

"The spiritual connection," she said, "separates this from all other Holocaust programs. When I first started this, years ago, my husband said, -Are you going to turn Jewish? But my Catholicism has only grown stronger through this."

The ADL works in conjunction with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, where it holds national conferences that serve as introductions to Bearing Witness. The program is authorized by the US conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Association of Catholic School Teachers. Often teachers who have completed the program recommend it to others, who recommend it to others, and so on.

"We never thought it would be this big. It has exploded," said Paul Wieser, a Catholic who oversees Holocaust programming for the ADL. "But we wouldn't have all this programming if it didn't work."

It has worked for Dennis Ruggiero, a theology teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. Since attending his first Holocaust seminar in 1997, Ruggiero has developed an intense course on the Holocaust for his high-school seniors, even taking them to the Holocaust museum in Washington each year.

"Bearing Witness has made a huge difference," said Ruggiero, "and it has changed my life."

Ophelia becomes third hurricane churning in Atlantic

(CNN) -- The latest forecasts place Hurricane Ophelia on a course toward Florida and eliminate the possibility that the Category 1 storm will wander out to sea or swirl south to the Caribbean.

Ophelia morphed into a hurricane Thursday afternoon with 75 mph winds, the National Hurricane Center reported, bringing to three the number of hurricanes simultaneously whipping the Atlantic Ocean.

At 8 p.m. ET Ophelia's center was 75 miles east-northeast of Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The storm was stationary, but forecasters said it may begin moving slowly Friday to the northeast, strengthen, then make a loop and barrel into Florida. (Watch the video of storm-weary Floridians preparing for another blow -- 1:50)

Earlier Thursday, forecasters thought the storm could head to the Caribbean or Florida. But during the evening they eliminated that possibility from the five-day forecast.

Hurricanes' erratic movements make long-range forecasts works in progress.

An uncommon looping path is familiar to residents of the hurricane-weary Sunshine State.

Last September, Hurricane Jeanne appeared to be heading out to sea before looping north of the Bahamas and hitting Florida's east coast as a Category 2 hurricane and killing six people.

A tropical storm warning was in effect for the east coast of Florida from Sebastian Inlet, south of Melbourne, to Flagler Beach, an area that Ophelia's edges were drubbing Thursday afternoon.

A tropical storm watch was in effect for northeast Florida from Flagler Beach to Fernandina Beach, which means tropical storm conditions are possible within 36 hours.

Forecasters said 1 to 3 inches of rain were expected across portions of central and northern Florida.

Nate and Maria

The other storms are Hurricanes Nate and Maria.

Thursday evening, Nate, with sustained winds of 85 mph, was heading out into the Atlantic after brushing by Bermuda earlier Thursday.

Maria, with 75 mph sustained winds, was well out in the ocean and posed no immediate threat to land. Forecasters said it was expected to lose its tropical characteristics Friday.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities. * 

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all 

Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis. * 

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in 

Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.
