A Star of David, often yellow-colored, was used by the Nazis,
during the Holocaust,
as a method of identifying Jews, as it was seen as the "Jewish Star".
The requirement to wear the Star of David with the word Jude (German
for Jew) inscribed, was extended to all Jews over the age of 6 in
German-occupied areas on September
6, 1941. In
other areas, local words were used (e.g. Juif in French,
Jood in Dutch).
In occupied Poland
Jews were forced to wear a white armband with a blue Star of David on it, as
well as a patch on the front and back of their clothing.
Jewish inmates in concentration
camps were later forced to wear similar Nazi
concentration camp badges.

2,500 Katrina evacuees headed to Cape base
Romney says state is happy to provide help
By Michael Levenson and Lisa Wangsness, Globe
Correspondent And Globe Staff | September
5, 2005
About 2,500 evacuees displaced by Hurricane Katrina will be flown from
the Gulf Coast to Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod by Wednesday and given
food, clothing, medical care, cash, and housing at Camp Edwards for the next
30-60 days in a massive undertaking announced yesterday by Governor Mitt
Romney and the Massachusetts National Guard.
Arriving in some cases with little more than the clothes they are
wearing, the evacuees will come to a sprawling military base that includes
sleeping quarters, a movie theater, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, and an
unoccupied school that Romney said made it an ideal location to help the
evacuees recuperate.
The operation is part of a nationwide effort by states to share the
burden of sheltering the tens of thousands of residents displaced by
Katrina, many of whom have been living in increasingly cramped quarters at
the Houston Astrodome and other shelters across the Gulf Coast. The Federal
Emergency Management Agency asked Massachusetts to take the evacuees in a
conference call with state officials yesterday.
''We're happy that Massachusetts is going to be able to help,"
Romney said at a news conference at the Massachusetts Emergency Management
Agency headquarters in Framingham, where he was flanked by the adjutant
general of the Massachusetts National Guard, a regional FEMA official, and
several other state officials. ''We have instituted Operation Helping Hand,
indicating that the compassion of the people of Massachusetts is as large as
our hearts."
Romney also said 535 Massachusetts National Guard troops would depart for
Louisiana today. They include military police, infantry, and medical
personnel who will join several thousand troops from other states who are
streaming into the hurricane-ravaged region. In addition, some local Guard
troops might be called up to help run the shelter at Camp Edwards.
After flying into Otis, the evacuees will be handed ID
cards or bracelets and evaluated by medical teams, Romney said. The
sick and injured will be sent to hospitals in Boston and elsewhere in the
state for treatment, he said. Those not sent on to hospitals will be given
clean beds and hot meals and
will be evaluated individually during the next several days to
determine their educational, health, and employment needs. The state will
give them a cash stipend for sundries, and workers will help them find
missing relatives in the Gulf Coast, Romney said.
During the coming weeks, Romney said that he expects the National Guard,
the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and volunteers to help run a shelter that
resembles a village in its complexity and scope. He said the operation will
need teachers to run the school on the base and law
enforcement officers to patrol the border between the evacuees' living
quarters and surrounding military operations.
Guards of the concentration camp
Counselors and ministers will help tend to evacuees' spiritual and
emotional lives, he said. Volunteers will tackle more mundane tasks --
making beds and doing laundry, for example, he said
Determining what will happen to the evacuees after 30
to 60 days poses the most daunting challenge, Romney said. He said the
state departments of housing, labor, and health and human services would help
to find those evacuees who want to remain in Massachusetts permanent homes and
jobs. He hopes that local officials would take stock of their own communities
to determine how many evacuees they might be able to accommodate.
Thousands of other evacuees might be coming to Massachusetts to stay with
family and friends, Romney said. He asked businesses and local officials to
help them settle here.
''We are going to do the job that needs to be done and help those that are
in need," the governor said.
Romney said he had no estimate of the cost of the operation. He said he had
spoken yesterday with Senate President Robert E. Travaglini and House Speaker
Salvatore F. DiMasi, who both ''were quick to say, 'Governor, whatever it
costs, we're there,' " Romney said. FEMA would pay the bulk of the costs,
he said. The state also has a surplus of $600 million to $800 million, some of
which could be spent on the operation, he said.
''Cost is not one of our considerations," Romney said. ''Compassion is
coming first."
Romney's plan supplants one offered Saturday by Mayor Thomas M. Menino, who
had prepared to bring the evacuees to a triage
center at Logan International Airport and house them at the Boston Convention
and Exhibition Center in South Boston. Romney said he was grateful for the
mayor's plan and ideas offered by other mayors, but he made clear that he would
be running the operation.
''The key at this point for our municipal officials is to make sure
everything is coordinated through the state," Romney said.
Menino said in an interview that he supports the governor's operation, which
he learned about after he announced his own preparations at a news conference
at City Hall. Shortly afterward, the two spoke by phone, the mayor said.
''I said, 'Governor, I just wanted these people taken care of,' "
Menino said. He added that he had scrambled to make plans after US officials
told his aides on Friday evening that evacuees might be arriving in Boston
within hours.
Federal officials have yet to determine where the evacuees will be coming
from, though many are expected to come from the Astrodome in Houston, Romney
said. Some may stay for only a few weeks, while others may want to build a new
life here, he said.
''There may be many that have nothing to go back to," he said.
Romney said a flight of critically ill patients might land at Logan, in
which case they would be taken by ambulance to hospitals in Boston. The state
has 2,000 hospital beds available, including about 400 that are vacant in the
Boston area, Romney said. The governor said he was also preparing for the
possibility that some of the evacuees might be prisoners
who need to be taken into state custody.
Lieutenant Nicole Ivers, a public affairs officer for the 102d Fighter Wing
at Otis, said the evacuees at Camp Edwards would stay in now-vacant three-story
barracks-style brick buildings
that normally house troops in training.
Each room has four beds, desks, and wall lockers; each floor has a day room
and two large bathrooms with showers and toilets, Ivers said. Each building has
a laundry room, and athletic fields and dining halls are within walking
distance. Already yesterday, teams at Edwards were sweeping barracks, making
beds, and setting up a security perimeter

Police Vow to Get Remaining Residents Out of New Orleans
BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 6 - As a handful of pumps toiled to drain the water
out of a sprawling city today, the New Orleans police
said they would force the 10,000 or so residents left in the city to leave
and Louisiana
officials warned of long-term damage to the area's environment.
The police superintendent, P. Edwin Compass III, said police officers and
other rescue workers going door to door would do all they could to remove
every resident still in the city of nearly half a million, to protect them
from lawlessness, get them to shelters and make sure children are fed.
"If that's necessary, we have the manpower to do it," Mr. Compass
told CNN this afternoon about reports that they would
force out people who insisted on staying in their water-logged
neighborhoods. "We'll do everything we can to keep this city safe. These
people don't understand they're putting themselves in harm's way.
"We're trying to save them
from themselves," he said. "We're going to get the residents
evacuated and then we're going to get all the criminals
out of New Orleans. "
With fires raging in some buildings and houses and New Orleans in lockdown,
the authorities said today that they made 150 arrests this week as they tried
to bring some order to the streets.
And with the city's municipal buildings unusable, the authorities today
created a temporary jail at a local Greyhound bus station.
Early today, the makeshift jail held 124 inmates, and Jim Letten, the United
States attorney for New Orleans, who has set up an office in Baton Rouge,
said it was a sign that law and order were returning to the city.
"It's essential to our being able to do criminal justice operations in
this city," he said.
In addition to armed guards from the Louisiana Department of Correction and
the Orleans parish sheriff's office, agents from the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms were at the jail, as well as two assistant United States
attorneys, Mr. Letten said at a news conference this afternoon.
He said there are plans to open a second detention
center, in a "traditional jail facility."
Nearly 8,000 prisoners were transported out of New Orleans jails last week
and moved to state prisons and jails in neighboring towns.
Even as rescue officials dealt with the human toll from Katrina,
environmental officials told about the long-lasting harm that would come to
the area from nearly 7,000 underground storage tanks still submerged in water,
widespread destruction of wildlife and degradation of the state's wetlands,
marshes and coastline.
"It is almost unimaginable what we're going to have to plan for and
deal with," said Michael D. McDaniel, the Louisiana secretary of
environmental quality.
And as President Bush and Congressional leaders vowed to find out what went
wrong in the federal response to the disaster,
hahahahhahahahhahahahhahhwhooooooooooooooey
Mayor C. Ray Nagin of New Orleans said that the final death count would horrify
a nation that has been transfixed for more than a week with televised
images of the catastrophe.
Sorcery and Blasphemy and murder and thefts
"The computer models say 10,000," Mr. Nagin said this morning on
"The Early Show" on CBS. "I don't know what the number is. But
it's going to be big. And it's going to shock the nation."
Shock and awe
He also said everyone shared
the blame for what happened in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast as
Katrina overwhelmed the levees holding back the water, as well as the
emergency workers and government officials charged with responding to the
disaster.
"I think we all do," he said. "I think this is America. And
you know, what happened here should never, ever happen again.
"Let's do some analysis and fix this," he said.
The Senate's Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs
announced today that it would hold hearings to investigate failures in dealing
with the storm and its aftermath. Mr. Bush also said he would order an
"investigation into what went right and what went wrong."
hahahahhahaahahh the fox guarding the mammonite
henhouse
The statistics on the disaster's effects continues to overwhelm local and
federal officials, and people across the country who have watched the drama
unfold.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said today that 315,568 Louisiana
households had registered for temporary housing and other forms of disaster
relief, and 93,000 of them had registered online. Its estimated expenses for
hurricane-related relief had grown to $2.9 billion by this afternoon, but much
of that money had not yet been spent.
Throughout the state, 339,449 customers in 25 parishes remained without
power. Louisiana officials said that 52,835 evacuees remained in the state and
78,421 had left, mostly for Texas.
Officials announced today that they're exploring opening new shelters so
that Louisianans could return home from other states, particularly Texas, if
they wished to do so. Two possibilities are Camp Minden,
a former Army munitions plant in Pineville, and the England
Industrial Airpark, a former Air Force base in
Alexandria.
Louisiana officials reported two encouraging developments: a pair of major
oil spills were declared under control, with one of them drifting out into the
Gulf of Mexico
and away from the state's ravaged coastline, and 170 sources of radiation,
ranging from hospitals to pipe-welding plants, have been secured, the
officials said.
But officials also said that 140,000 to 160,000 homes had been submerged or
destroyed; 60 to 90 million tons of solid waste must be cleaned up, and 530
sewage treatment plants were inoperable. They warned that it would take years
to fully restore clean drinking water.
Dr. McDaniel, the state's water quality chief, who is a biologist,
acknowledged that the soupy basin that is New Orleans was filled with bacteria
and other contaminants, but he said the extent of biological and chemical
hazards would not be clear until the federal Environmental Protection Agency
completed laboratory tests.
"In addition to the oil and gasoline-type compounds, I expect we'll
see some traces of truly toxic materials - things like pesticides, perhaps
metals," he said. "We have homes with hazardous materials in them.
We expect to see some nutrients obviously, as we flooded a lot of lawns and
garden areas."
Scientists have already begun to warn that pumping
billions of gallons of brackish water from New Orleans back into Lake
Pontchartrain could have harmful long-term consequences.
Officials of the Army Corps of Engineers said that by this afternoon only 3
of the city's 148 pumps - each capable of pumping 4,600 cubic feed per second
- were operational.
In addition to the regular pumps, one small portable pump, capable of
pumping just 9 cubic feet per second, was operating at the 17th Street Canal.
A spokesman for the Army Corps said it would take 24 days to pump the water
from an eastern section of New Orleans and 80 days to clear the flooding from
Chalmette, the seat of St. Bernard Parish.
In St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes, to the east and south of New
Orleans, there were still areas where engineers had to breach levees, dikes
and storm walls to allow water to flow out before any pumping could occur.
Daniel H. Hitchings, the spokesman, said the Army Corps was worried about
another storm hitting during the hurricane season. "Certainly if we had
another Category 4 event, we're not prepared for that," he said.
Dr. McDaniel said he believed the lake would eventually recover. "The
bacterial contaminants will not last a long time in the lake," he said.
"They actually die off pretty fast. The organic material will degrade
with natural processes."
The Pentagon said today that there are now about 58,000 troops in the
region supporting the civilian agencies. The total breaks down to 41,000
National Guard members and 17,000 active-duty troops.

Former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury
on New Orleans: "Americans Are Being Brainwashed"
Mentality is "like that of the brown
shirts that followed Hitler"
Steve Watson/Alex Jones | September 6 2005
Paul Craig Roberts has held a
number of academic appointments and has contributed to numerous scholarly
publications. He served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Regan
administration.
Roberts followed up his
commentary Impeach
Bush Now, Before More Die with an interview on The Alex Jones show on
Monday 5th September 2005. The former Assistant Secretary had noted of the New
Orleans disaster "If terrorists had achieved this result, it would rank as
the greatest terrorist success in history." and went on to spell out how
the disaster was left to happen. He succeeded these comments on Monday by
laying out the facts again and asserting that the Federal government has been
criminally negligent and should be held up to accountability.
Mr Roberts believed that such
comments would bring him much criticism from so called Patriots (the
flag waving kind), yet he was surprised at the amount of people who
agreed and even informed him that it was far worse then what he'd gone on
record with.
Roberts reviewed the way in
which the federal government had slashed funding for flood prevention schemes
and pumped everything into the war in Iraq and the war on Terror.
He also went on to admit that the military was turning on the people, treating
them as subjects, overturning the Posse Comitatus Act.
Roberts agreed that FEMA has deliberately
withheld aid, and cut emergency communication
lines, and automatically made the crisis look worse in
order to empower the image of a police state emerging to "save the
day". He even insinuated that the shoot to
kill policy was part of the overall operation in order get an awful precedence
set to aid the military industrial complex takeover of America.
"The power of the Federal
Government is now greater than at any time, it'll never go back and the Posse
Comitatus Act has been eroding ever since it was passed in 1878..."
Roberts asserted.
Roberts further commented
"There is no excuse for this, we have never had in our history the federal
government take a week to respond to a disaster...this is the first time ever
that the help was not mobilized in advance. The proper procedure is that
everything is mobilized and ready to go"
Mr Roberts commented that the

FEMA Deliberately Sabotaging
Hurricane Relief Efforts
Multiple parishes revolt, use armed guards to
defend against feds
Paul
Joseph Watson & Alex Jones | September 6 2005
Numerous credible sources have come forward with
examples of how the Federal Emergency Management Agency
is deliberately sabotaging Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans.
This represents a ruthless attempt on the part of FEMA
to impose a federal takeover of the area for their own benefit amid a
tragedy that has already claimed anything up to 10,000 lives.
The mainstream media has picked up on this story but is
whitewashing it as just another 'failure' of the federal government in dealing
with the crisis.
In reality the actions are part of a coordinated
campaign to deepen the scope of the disaster in order to force through bumper
funding increases for FEMA.
Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard (pictured
below) appeared on Meet the Press Sunday and broke down in tears as he
described FEMA's criminal activities.

"We have been abandoned by our own country.
Hurricane Katrina will go down in history as one of the worst storms ever to
hit an American coast, but the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will go down as
one of the worst abandonments of Americans on American
soil ever in U.S. history."
We had Wal-Mart deliver three trucks of water, trailer
trucks of water. FEMA turned them
back. They said we didn't need them. This
was a week ago. FEMA--we had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a Coast Guard
vessel docked in my parish. The Coast Guard said, "Come get the fuel
right away." When we got there with our trucks, they got a word. "FEMA
says don't give you the fuel." Yesterday--yesterday--FEMA comes in
and cuts all of our emergency communication lines. They
cut them without notice. Our sheriff,
Harry Lee, goes back in, he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards on our
line and says, "No one is getting near these lines."
Why would FEMA, an organization supposedly tasked with
helping in a time of crisis, deliberately cut police communication lines? This
is a blatant example of sabotage and a sick push to make the disaster worse.
In carrying out these actions, FEMA are no better than the animals who shot at
rescue workers and helicopters.
The mission of FEMA has never in reality been to bring
people food and water and help in times of crisis. Alex Jones has attended
numerous FEMA drills where the
whole point of the exercise is to round people up, break up families and
institute a brutal police state crackdown.
FEMA need to create a chaotic atmosphere in New Orleans
so they can legitimize what they
are doing.
We now have multiple reports of police being ordered to
guard key infrastructures in order to defend
them from FEMA federal agents. Sheriffs in numerous different counties
are guarding highways to keep FEMA out. FEMA is being treated as the enemy because
they are sabotaging key facilities in an effort to intentionally worsen the
already desperate scenes of horror in New Orleans.
FEMA is sabotaging lines of communication so their
activities cannot be exposed to the wider relief authorities and the media.
Commenting on the sabotage by FEMA of communication
lines, Washington insider Wayne Madsen states,
"Jamming radio and other
communications such as television signals is part of a Pentagon tactic called
"information blockade" or "technology blockade."
The tactic is one of a number of such operations that are part of the doctrine
of "information warfare" and is one of
the psychological operations (PSYOPS) methods used by
the US Special Operations Command."
Radio host Carol Baker who has been tracking the FEMA
sabotage stated that Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jeff
Hingle had his deputies patrol the county line under orders not to let FEMA
in.
As is discussed in the Meet the Press interview, Jefferson
Parish Sheriff Harry Lee also has armed guards patrolling the county line in
order to prevent the FEMA sabotage.
FEMA has a number of executive orders that outline the
total federal takeover of any US city.
For a full synopsis of FEMA's executive orders in light
of the hurricane, click
here.
FEMA is clearly using this human catastrophe as a means
of executing its decade long plans and providing the pretext for future
takeover scenarios of all major American cities.
The Noahide Hoodlum haha of HELL
Amongst a litany of government inaction and outright
dereliction, this is the most alarming evidence to emerge yet that clearly
indicates an agenda for the federal government to profit and expand its power
from exploiting the aftermath of the hurricane.

Israel holding secret
talks with Hamas, Arab states over Gaza synagogues

Efforts to prevent the demolition of the
synagogues in Gush Katif have been underway over the past few days through a
number channels.
* Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yehuda Amar has raised the issue with Moroccan King
Mohammed and has asked him to take the matter up with the Palestinian
Authority.
* Shas chairman Eli Yishai has had talks on the matter with members of
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's staff.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American
Jewish Organizations Malcolm Honlein and former minister Natan
Sharansky (The Noahide promoting Dog of
Demonicrazy, Talmud Bavli style) are holding talks with the Bush
administration in an attempt to secure guarantees
under which a portion of the U.S. aid to the PA will be conditioned on an
undertaking by the Palestinians that the synagogues will not be harmed or
desecrated.
why?.............
Upon seizing the reins of government, the new
Noachide leaders will move quickly to implement a full agenda of reform.
... Full support will be given to Israeli forces to reinvade
PLO-controlled areas, with military assistance offered where necessary.
Jewish courts ... will be granted full legal sovereignty over Jewish citizens
within each country, who will no longer be subject to the authority of gentile
courts. The pre-existing Noachide judges and courts will replace the
existing court system of each country, and the legal code will be drastically
rewritten to conform to halacha.... .... And law and order will be
fully restored through the establishment of internal security measures, again
in accordance with Torah law. — Committee for Israeli Victory
* Rabbi Menachem Froman has been in Rome for talks on the matter with PA and
Hamas leaders. Froman coordinated his trip with the Chief Rabbinate and also
informed the Prime Minister's Office of the nature of the contacts. In a
recent statement to the High Court of Justice, Froman wrote that "it is
in the interests of both the PA and Hamas to appear as
defenders of the abandoned mosques within the State of Israel, and the
preservation of the synagogues under their control could serve as a basis for
appearing as such."
Froman says he is working to achieve and understanding between the PA and
Hamas that will facilitate the preservation of the synagogues. Froman says
that the responses he has received from senior PA and Hamas officials indicate
that "the decision will indeed be to preserve the synagogues."
Obedient Goyim Noahides
The talks have raised a number of historical precedents regarding the
preservation of synagogues, including the ancient synagogue in Jericho and the
ancient synagogue in Gaza, the mosaic from which was not harmed by the
Palestinians and is currently on display at the Rockefeller Museum in
Jerusalem. The synagogue in Yamit, evacuated by Israel in 1982 under the peace
treaty with Egypt, has also reportedly been left intact.
On Wednesday, however, Brigadier General (res.) Oded Tira, the commander of
the Yamit evacuation, urged the government to agree to the dismantling of the
Gush Katif synagogues, noting that he had received many reports to the
contrary with regard to the Yamit synagogue. Tira said that when approached on
the subject by Israel, Egyptian officials had said they were helpless and
unable to prevent the acts of vandalism committed in the synagogue.
"If Egypt, an organized country, has been unable to preserve the sanctity
of the synagogue, the Palestinians will never be able to do so," Tira
said.
Attorney Gilad Corinaldi, who has held a series of meetings with rabbis who
have ruled that the Gush Katif synagogues should not be demolished, says that
any solution that does not involve the razing of the synagogues by the State
of Israel is preferable. "The state of the Jews must not be the first in
the history of Western culture that destroys with its own hands cultural and
religious assets and treasures even if they may be desecrated by the
Palestinians in the future," he said

Three circumcised babies with herpes spark NY
health probe
By Amiram Barkat
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and
municipal health officials met recently with local ultra-Orthodox leaders to
discuss banning mohelim (ritual circumcisers) from performing the
Talmudic
custom known as metzitzah b'peh (oral suction),
in which blood is drawn from the circumcision wound to cleanse it.
by mouth
The New York Times
reported on August 26 that this practice became a health issue after three
infants circumcised by the same mohel were infected with the herpes virus. One
of the babies subsequently died.
Health officials in New York suspect that oral suction exposes the infants to
Type-1 herpes, which is common in adults but can be fatal to infants
A baby from Staten Island and twins from the Hasidic
community of Monsey contracted the disease; one of the twins died in
February.
The Rabbinical Council of America, the main umbrella organization of Orthodox
rabbis, called for an end to the practice, but at the meeting with Bloomberg
on August 11, Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) leaders rejected a ban outright.
"The Orthodox Jewish community will continue the practice that has been
practiced for over 5,000 years. We do not change. And we will not
change," said Rabbi David Niederman of the Haredi community in
Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
we will
continue with this sick perversion and murder, they saith
Bloomberg said on his radio program the next day that health officials would
investigate the connection between the practice and herpes transmission.
"We're going to do a study, and make sure that everybody is safe. And at
the same time, it is not the government's business to
tell people how to practice their religion," the mayor said.
How to murder?
New York's public health supervisor, Thomas Frieden, said that a low rate of
contracting herpes through oral suction was "somewhat inevitable."
However, he stressed that there is no intention of outlawing the ritual, since
it is impossible to enforce it in circumcision ceremonies, many of which take
place in private homes.
It is not impossible
to charge him with murder and sexual child abuse and genital mutilation
The scientific journal Pediatrics last year published the results of a study
by a group of American and Israeli researchers, headed by Dr. Benjamin
Gezundheit, a pediatric specialist from Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva. The
researchers examined eight cases of infants who contracted herpes and had been
circumcised using the traditional oral suction practice. They concluded
that the practice causes "serious risk" of transmitting herpes and
also exposes the baby to various infections.
SO, how do you
reckon this Mo-Hell who sucks the penis's of Babies may have contracted herpes
in the first place?
Rabbi Avraham Steinberg does not consider those findings reliable. Steinberg,
who is a member of the public committee for overseeing mohelim
in Israel and a pediatric neurologist at Shaare Zedek Medical Center,
Jerusalem, says the researchers did not prove that a single case of herpes
contraction was caused by the oral suction ritual.
NO, the babies had
oral sex performed upon them elsewhere?
"True, this is an unhygienic procedure that might theoretically cause
infection, but we know from hundreds of years' experience
that in practice this doesn't happen," Steinberg said.

Last pullout set
The final stage of Israel’s Gaza Strip withdrawal will begin Monday.
Israel’s interministerial committee on the pullout announced Wednesday
that ground forces would begin leaving Gaza on Sept. 12 and complete the move
within three days.
As part of the redeployment, Israel will hand over security control of
Gaza’s southern border to Egypt. Israel’s Cabinet is expected to approve
the final withdrawal at its weekly session Sunday.

Tremor hits Holy Land
A mild earthquake shook Israel and the West Bank.
Wednesday’s tremor, measuring 3.7 on the Richter Scale, was felt in the
Jordan Valley and Tel Aviv but caused no damage. It coincided with the
publication of an interministerial report on the lack of earthquake
preparedness in Israel. According to the study, more than 50,000 structures in
Israel would not be expected to withstand a serious tremor.
Reinforcing schools alone for a possible catastrophe would cost more than
$4 billion, the report said.

National Infrastructure Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer said he would table
legislation to address the lack of preparedness. “We may know how to deal
with the threat of terrorism, but we are far behind when it comes to the
threat of earthquakes,” he told reporters.

Holocaust trial delayed
in France
A French court postponed the trial of a politician on trial for denying the
Holocaust.
The criminal court of Lyon decided Tuesday to postpone the trial of Bruno
Gollnisch, the No. 2 man to National Front leader Jean-Marie Le Pen. Gollnisch
is on trial for contesting crimes against humanity over comments he made last
October questioning the way the Nazis used gas chambers. The delay was put in
place to allow the European Parliament to grant Gollnisch’s request for
parliamentary immunity before the trial begins.
The new trial is slated for Nov. 29.

Jews ponder future of
high court
as second vacancy raises stakes
September 6, 2005
WASHINGTON, Sept. 6 (JTA) — The nation’s eyes were supposed to turn
this week to the confirmation hearings of Judge John Roberts for the U.S.
Supreme Court. But changing circumstances have raised the stakes and narrowed
the timetable for influencing the future of the high court.
Roberts’ hearings were to have commenced Tuesday, but were postponed
after the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist on Saturday evening.
And even when Roberts does face the Senate Judiciary Committee as a nominee
for chief justice next week — President Bush nominated him Monday to replace
Rehnquist as the court’s leader —
America’s attention will likely still be focused on the Gulf Coast region,
and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
The storyline changes over the Labor Day weekend have left some Jewish
groups pondering, with the rest of the nation, how they can be most effective
in steering the future direction of the court.
The new vacancy, as well as Roberts’ possible ascension to chief justice,
“dramatizes the seriousness of what the debate of the future of the court is
really about,” said Rabbi David Saperstein, director of the Religious Action
Center for Reform Judaism.
This is particularly true for those who view Roberts’ policy positions as
too conservative for the court.

The chief justice holds limited power over the other eight justices, but
does control who authors opinions when he is in the majority. That could
affect how opinions are written, and the jurisprudence made by them. In
addition, the chief justice wields considerable
influence over the entire federal court system.
remember...........................................................
Upon seizing the reins
of government, the new Noachide leaders will move quickly to implement a full
agenda of reform. ... Full support will be given to Israeli forces
to reinvade PLO-controlled areas, with military assistance offered where
necessary. Jewish courts ... will be granted full legal sovereignty over
Jewish citizens within each country, who will no longer be subject to the
authority of gentile courts. The pre-existing Noachide judges and courts
will replace the existing court system of each country, and the legal code
will be drastically rewritten to conform to halacha.... .... And
law and order will be fully restored through the establishment of internal
security measures, again in accordance with Torah law. — Committee for
Israeli Victory
The future of the court, analysts said, will largely depend now not on
Roberts, but on who Bush names to replace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who
will remain on the court until a replacement is confirmed. While Rehnquist was
a reliable conservative who is now being replaced
by a conservative, O’Connor is viewed as the moderate core of the court.
Replacing her with another conservative would
shift the court squarely to the right (Hassidim
far right) on issues such as the separation of church and state and
abortion rights; replacing her with a moderate would keep the court close to
where it has been in recent years.

“It opens the door up for President Bush to look at this next vacancy and
put in a more moderate candidate,” said Phyllis Snyder, president of the
National Council of Jewish Women, which opposes Roberts.
Liberal Jewish leaders are quietly expressing hope that Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales will be named to replace O’Connor.
Great, a Talmudic Torture advocate
Gonzales has been criticized in some Jewish camps for his work as White
House counsel on the encampment of prisoners at
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, but he is seen as more moderate than other
jurists Bush considered for the high court earlier this summer.
Conservatives have raised strong concerns over
Gonzales, but have been quieted by Bush, a close friend.
“He has said some of the right things, so I think people are more hopeful
than they have any real reason to be,” one Jewish leader said of Gonzales.
“But it’s all speculation and it’s all impossible to know for sure.”
Jewish groups did not appear to be planning new advocacy campaigns. Many
Jewish groups — including the American Jewish Committee and the
Anti-Defamation League — choose not to endorse or oppose presidential
nominations, and have sent letters to lawmakers, stressing questions they
would like asked about Roberts’ record.
The AJCommittee’s letter, released Tuesday, urged lawmakers to probe
Roberts on numerous issues regarding the separation of church and state,
including government funding of religious activity and school prayer.
The Reform movement was scheduled to vote on Sept. 13 on whether to oppose
Roberts. They have criticized his record at length, but wanted to wait until
after his hearings before taking a position. Their meeting in New York,
however, now comes the day Roberts’ hearings begin. The decision has not
been made whether the vote will be postponed.
“We really thought the proper thing to do was to wait and see what comes
out of the hearings before making a decision,” Saperstein said. “This is a
person who is quite qualified, but raises many questions on fundamental
rights.”
On the other side, some concerns have been raised about lawmakers
disapproving of Roberts because of his strong Christian beliefs.
Judeo-Churchinsanist Talmudic beliefs of Freemasonry
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty suggested Monday in a full-page
ad in The New York Times that a religious test for nominees would bring the
United States back to the 19th century, when Catholics were thought to be
loyal to the pope, and Jews were seen as untrustworthy.
Roberts’ supporters said they wanted more Jewish groups to speak out
against this type of response to the nominee. Thus far, only the Orthodox
Union has sent a letter of concern over religious tests.
“I’m very concerned,” said a Republican Senate aide, who asked not to
be identified. “If you don’t do it to protect the
other guys, it’s going to happen to you.”
Meanwhile, much of the nation’s attention has shifted to Hurricane
Katrina and its aftermath. The news media is more focused on the destruction
along the Gulf Coast, and it is unclear whether the
press will cover Roberts’ confirmation hearings as intently as one might
have expected.
hahahahahhahahahhehhehehhehhehehehhwhooooooooey
Jewish groups have also been focusing so much attention on the
hurricane’s aftermath in recent days, limiting resources available for
monitoring the court. Mark Waldman, director of public policy for the United
Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, said he had been working on providing aid
and other support “non-stop” in recent days, and had not focused on the
court developments.
Saperstein, who said he spent two hours on a Hurricane Katrina conference
call Tuesday morning, said he believed his movement’s membership can focus
on both issues.
“When issues of fundamental values and rights are at stake, our
congregations really have the energy to convey their strong feelings and
engage on these issues,” he said.
