Anti-Saudi Campaign: Enough Is Enough

Steven Stalinsky, executive director of the Middle East Media Research Institute, has published an article under the title “The Royal Treatment, Anti-Semitism, that is”.
He starts his piece with this statement: The Saudi royal family has been on the forefront in espousing an extreme position of hatred toward Jews ...which influences the Kingdom’s educational system and media and subsequently its foreign policy.
He proceeds by citing examples of statements and policies of the leaders of this country since its inception which are against Jews and hence anti-Semitic.
To be more clear about this issue, certain facts need to be stated. First, the writer of this article must have been in great hurry to publish it, as his references are a collection of pieces of articles taken out of their contexts.
Secondly, he missed stating that the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made the issue of Palestine a personal commitment. This was an issue which shaped the Kingdom’s foreign policy and was raised in the first historical meeting between King Abdul Aziz and US President Roosevelt in 1945 whereby the latter promised to halt emigration of Jews to Palestine and not to endanger the position of Palestinians, a promise which has been broken by all American presidents who followed, but was kept alive by all Saudi kings who came to power after their legendary father. Another promise was taken up by Saudi Arabia in 1946 at the formation of the Arab League in Egypt whereby Arab states declared that from that day onward the Palestinian question concerned not merely Palestinians but the Arabs as a whole.
Saudi Arabia has paid a huge price for keeping up this promise internally and externally and the result we are witnessing now: A smear campaign abroad to pressure this country into abandoning its commitment toward the Palestinians.
A more valid statement is that the people of Saudi Arabia represented by its leaders are indeed anti-Zionists but not anti-Semites. Dr. Alfred M. Lilienthal who met King Saud in Riyadh in 1955 (www.alfredlilienthal.com/kingandi.htm) indicated in his article published by Washington Report on Middle East Affairs that anti-Zionism should not be equated with anti-Semitism, the racist ideology directed against Jews as Jews. Nor should Zionism, the political movement established to reconstitute Jews as a nation, be equated with Judaism. Dr. Lilienthal, who was the second Jew to meet a Saudi king, proceeds by saying: The words “anti-Semitism and “Anti-Semitic” are, in fact, misnomers. Jews constitute no more than 10 percent of the world Semites. The overwhelming majority of Semites are Arabs. Furthermore, most Jews today could not trace their ancestry back to the holy land and, therefore, are not true Semites at all. Ninety percent of the world’s Jews are descended from converts to Judaism, mostly the Khazars in what once was southern USSR. I think Steven Stalinsky is one of them. In fact, it is the Zionists who have been anti-Semites starting from the holy land of Palestine and ending with a worldwide movement against Muslims and Arabs who form 90 percent of the Semites. Besides, Israel and Saudi Arabia do not recognize each other and do not have diplomatic relations. Then how is either state expected to treat the other’s citizens?
At the same time, Jews who happen to be citizens of other countries like the US and work for their governments have always been welcomed by Saudi Arabia, keeping with diplomatic norms.
As for Interior Minister Prince Naif’s statements which Stalinsky quotes in his article, there is no denying that the Sept.11 attacks have served the interests of the Zionists more than they have any other group’s. Can anyone dare deny this fact?
Concerning Prince Sultan’s accusing the Jewish congressmen of being at the forefront of lobbying in the interest of Israel and its perceived enemies, could this assertion be denied? If the pro-Israeli lobby did not influence the US media, then the US could hardly prefer the interests and friendship of a small country like Israel to that of 1.5 billion Muslims. Neither would Israel receive more aid than the rest of the world put together (almost).
Moreover, Saudi kings can hardly be accused of being anti-Semites. They can’t be against themselves and their people.
Saudi kings were raised by their father King Abdul Aziz to be experienced regional politicians and to fight injustice wherever it may be. And they are paying a price for this. The stability of this country is being undermined by inimical forces as confirmed by Crown Prince Abdullah after the Yanbu bombings.

You were appalled, and justifiably so, by those images last week of US soldiers sexually humiliating and otherwise abusing Iraqi prisoners? But hey, take heart: so were the overwhelming majority of Americans, including — and trust me on this one — the 150,000 other Americans who are serving in the military in Iraq at the moment.
No doubt the photos served to reinforce Arab mistrust of US intentions in Iraq and anger at its policies in Palestine, and drove the media in the Middle East to have a field day describing the mistreatment as “savage acts” that are “indicative of the entire criminal operation being conducted in the region” — and the rest of it.
Before we get on our high horse, poking ordinary American folk in the chest for being barbaric hordes, let’s step back and consider that the dozen or so perpetrators of these acts at the Abu Gharib prison facility were a few bad apples not representative of the sensibility that animates much of American society, a society made up of people who come, or whose ancestors have come, from every country in the world.
These American folk are socialized by their family system, educational system and value system, not to mention their historical experience as idealistic immigrants searching for social justice and freedom in the New World, to abjure such practices. Ideas about how all men are created equal, of inherent rationality, held since the Founding Fathers wrote the constitution — ideas still intensely valid in the politically correct posture that most Americans demonstrate in their everyday cultural life — have not broken down because of the atrocious acts of a handful of soldiers.
Already three separate investigations have been launched since the abuses were discovered, and criminal charges have been filed against six soldiers, and could be filed against four others. Administrative charges, including court-martial, have been recommended against seven officers. Moreover, since those shocking photos were broadcast around the world, initially via CBS’ “60 Minutes,” nary a single commentator or editorialist saw the torture of prisoners as a nebulous issue, or for that matter ignored how profound and permanent the damage was to the image that America has tried to project of itself as a liberator in Iraq.
In the end, however, after this furor has quieted down, the bad guys here will turn out to be not those kids who didn’t know from a hole in the wall what they were doing but the neoconservative elite in government, with their sick fixation on power, pursuing the mirage of imperial purpose and manipulating a clueless president into going to war in Iraq on the flimsiest of excuses.
These ruthless ideologues, with a sinister agenda of their own, who are credited with a virtual takeover of US foreign policy under George W. Bush, see a world full of five-headed monsters, of mysterious evil, lurking behind every lamppost in our region, that America — now the only superpower around, with moral superiority coursing through its body politic — should take on.
What we saw at Abu Gharib last week was but massive echo, in a trickle-down effect, in an overlapping of events, of that imperial posturing. Imperial posturing, though, is fragile and its exercise is finite, as colonial overlords learned at the beginning of the last century, and the Israeli entity in Palestine is yet to learn.
“You are going to be the proud owner of 25 million people,” Secretary of State Colin Powell presciently told the president on the eve of war, we read in Bob Woodward’s new book, “Plan of Attack.” “You will own all their hopes, aspirations and problems. You will own it all.”
In the business world this is known as the Pottery Barn rule: You break it, you own it. In the movie industry, it’s known by a more telling rule: You play, you pay. In real life, it’s called: Why the heck did you go to Iraq in the first place, bringing on the collision of two modes of consciousness, thereby releasing explosive tensions there and anti-American sentiment around the world!

Israeli planes bombard south Lebanon

News reports in Lebanon said that the Israeli military planes
bombarded three positions in south Lebanon in Zibqin town in Tyre's district in
Shahin area and Beit Leif valley. All these area are situated outside Shebaa
farms which are occupied by Israel.
Meantime, Israeli military sources said that the bombardment targeted sites for
the Lebanese Hizbullah party in retaliation to an earlier attack against a
collective farm to the north of Israel.
However, Lebanese security sources said that the Israeli forces bombarded the
Lebanese areas after the Lebanese army and the Hizbullah party fired anti-planes
shelling earlier in the day on Wednesday at Israeli planes that violated the
Lebanese airspace. No immediate news were stated on casualties from the two
side.

DAMASCUS, May 6 (KUNA) -- Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk Al-Sharaa called anew on Thursday for transforming the Middle East into a zone free of weapons of mass destruction and dismantling Israel's nuclear arsenal.
The official news agency, Sana, quoted Al-Sharaa as saying current serious developments in the Middle East constituted a major stumbling block on the path of bolstering the European-Mediterranean cooperation.
Al-Sahraa, presently in Dublin, taking part in a ministerial Euro-Mediterranean conference, indicated that the states of Europe and the Middle East should join efforts for sake of establishing a just and comprehensive peace in the region, based on Israel's pullout from the Syrian Golan Heights to the June 1967 line and other occupied Arab territoris, as well as ending the occupation of Iraq.
The minister emphasized that the Mideast must be turned into a region free of weapons of mass destruction.
Signing the Syrian-European Partnership Agreement has been blocked with opposition by some EU member states because of the issue of weapons of mass destruction, reportedly possesed by Syria.
Syria and the European states worked out most of the agreement last year.

With respect to countries such as the United States, one must look at the imposition of capital punishment under Noahide law, which applies to non-Jewish people, or the power of a king or a state legislature to impose capital punishment, based upon the principle of dina de'malchuta dina, literally, "the law of the state is the law." The authorization for the imposition of capital punishment and the relevant evidentiary and procedural rules under Noahide law or the principle of dina de'malchuta dina are entirely different from those under Jewish law. The question of capital punishment under the Noahide code was discussed in the Talmud. See B. Talmud, Sanhedrin 57a-b. It was decided that all seven Noahide laws are capital crimes. According to Maimonides, non-Jews are required to establish a judicial system and apply the Noahide law, including the imposition of capital punishment (Maimonides, ibid, 9:14). It would appear, then, that American courts might be required under Noahide law to impose capital punishment for the violation of any one of the seven Noahide laws based upon one-witness testimony, circumstantial evidence or a defendant's confession. Similarly, the imposition of capital punishment by a non-Jewish state under the principle of dina de'malchuta dina does not require the application of strict evidentiary and procedural rules as in Jewish law. For instance, the testimony of one witness or the defendant's confession might suffice to convict a defendant (Rabbi B. Ashkenazi's commentary (Shita Mekubetzet) on Bava Metzia 83b-84a, citing Ritva) Although the principle of dina de'malchuta dina was primarily intended to subject Jewish people to the authority of a non-Jewish state, it could a fortiori apply also to non-Jewish people. This is because the underlying theories of this principle, e.g., the people's implied consent to the state's authority, or the power of the state to expel disobedient inhabitants, applies to everyone. The restrictions in Jewish law on the execution of criminals, delineated by Rabbi Feinstein, are limited to trials conducted according to biblical law. A Jewish king, however, is not subject to these restrictions and may execute criminals more easily than a Jewish court. (Maimonides, Mishneh Torah, Kings, 3:10, 4:1-3; Drush ha-Ran, ch. 11). The principles which guide a non-Jewish king regarding capital punishment are more readily compared to those which guide a Jewish king, rather than those which are applied by a Jewish tribunal. NBC: FDNY Chief of Safety Reported Bombs Both Within the Towers and on the Planes on 9/11

you will hear is a clip from NBC reporter Pat Dawson on the morning of 9/11. In
it he discusses the comments of Albert Turi, the Chief of Safety for the New
York
City Fire Department.
Turi reported not only that there were numerous secondary explosions within the towers but that there was also a bomb on one or both of the planes that crashed into the towers. This would explain why video footage shows both planes emitting strange flashes before they hit the towers, as well as the 'pod' on the underbelly of Flight 175.
We have dozens of reports from firefighters and others on the scene who witnessed bombs going before and during the towers' collapse. Larry Silverstein, the owner of the World Trade Center complex, admitted in a PBS documentary that they decided to demolish Building 7 on the day of 9/11, despite the official story of it accidentally collapsing which has remained in place to this day.

WASHINGTON -- Air traffic controllers who handled two of the hijacked flights on
Sept. 11, 2001, recorded their experiences shortly after the planes crashed, but
a supervisor destroyed the tape, the government said Thursday.
A report by Transportation Department Inspector General Kenneth Mead said the
manager for the New York air traffic control center asked the controllers to
record their experiences a few hours after the crashes, believing they would be
important for law enforcement.
Sometime between December 2001 and February 2002, an unidentified Federal
Aviation Administration quality assurance manager crushed the cassette case in
his hand, cut the tape into small pieces and threw them away in multiple trash
cans, the report said.
The manager said he destroyed the tape because he felt it violated FAA policy
calling for written statements from controllers who have handled a plane
involved in an accident or other serious incident. He also said he felt the
controllers weren't in the right frame of mind to have consented to the taping,
the report said.
"We were told that nobody ever listened to, transcribed or duplicated the
tape," Mead said in the report sent to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who asked
the inspector general to look into how well the FAA was cooperating with the
independent panel investigating the Sept. 11 attacks.
That panel learned of the tape during interviews with New York air traffic
control center personnel between September and October.
Mead said his office referred the case to federal prosecutors in New York, but
they declined to prosecute because of lack of criminal intent.
The report did not characterize the tape's destruction as an attempted cover-up
but said it could have been valuable in providing the public with a full
explanation of what happened on Sept. 11.
"What those six controllers recounted in a group setting on Sept. 11, in
their own voices, about what transpired that morning, are no longer available to
assist any investigation or inform the public," the letter said.

A more recent definition was provided by a non-Jewish professor at an Israeli University, a former priest who teaches philosophy. He was upset about the criticism of Israel when Israel went into Lebanon. He was more upset than the Jews themselves (who were being apologetic about it), so he held a press conference and said that Israel had every right to do what it did. It was a moral thing, it was the right thing, and so on. At the press conference, he was asked how he defines Jews. He replied, "A Jew is someone who is religious without knowing it, and this is true for all Jews from the extreme right to the extreme left." In fact, he said, this uniqueness is evident even in Jews who convert to Christianity.

These two descriptions of Jewish people, however, raise more questions than they answer. Chosen? Chosen for what? How did we get to be chosen? Why did G-d have to choose a people? And what does it mean to be religious without knowing it? How can a person be religious without knowing it?

On Being Chosen
Unto the Robber, who saith let my children come to me
In the story of Creation, we see that G-d doesn't "choose" anything. He decides beforehand what He wants to create and He creates it. What does it mean, then, that He chose the Jewish people? If He wants a Jewish people, He creates a Jewish people. To "choose" a Jewish people implies that all people were originally alike, but then G-d decided that He wanted one nation to do a special job, or whatever He chose us for, and so He went around and checked out the candidates and decided that He would choose us, and so we are the chosen people -- we're the Jews.
EXACTLY, WHAT THE "ROBBER" THEY "CHOSE" HAS DONE...THUS THEY BECAME THE THEM VERSES US IN ALL THE EARTH, CONTRARY UNTO ALL MANKIND
What that implies is that it could have been anybody -- it was a choice and G-d chose us, but He could have chosen somebody else and then they would have been Jewish. But this doesn't make any sense. If G-d wants a chosen people, then He creates one. And, if one is created chosen, then what's the choice? If there is really a difference, a uniqueness that makes the Jew Jewish, then what is there to choose?

Living in America (Dual Loyalty to another nation) and being enamored with the idea of egalitarianism and equality and everybody being equal and everybody being the same, we're very uncomfortable with the idea of a chosen people and we try to minimize it, to neutralize it. We try to say that being chosen doesn't mean that we're different, it's just that, well, your grandfather could have been chosen but, uh, he wasn't educated, but our grandfather was already reading Hebrew, was already wise, so he was chosen.
But if that's the case, then what was the choice? A choice exists when there are a number of things that are truly equal, serving the same purpose and satisfying the same need -- there are many and you need only one, so you have to choose. But if there is only one that will satisfy your particular need, if only one "grandfather" had the qualifications to serve G-d in a specific way (while the other "grandfathers" satisfied other needs), then... what's the choice?

For example, if a person has a craving for an orange, and there's a bowl of fruit with one orange in it, and an assortment of other fruits, he takes the orange out of the bowl. That's not a choice. He didn't choose an orange over the other fruits; he wanted that orange in the first place. The orange is the only fruit that can satisfy his need, so it's not a "choice," because the other fruits won't do.
There's a Midrash in which G-d offers the Torah to the other nations, and each of them in turn declines it. So then He offers it to the Jews, and they accept. Does this mean that anyone could have been Jewish, whoever accepted the Torah first?
Not at all. On the contrary, the point of the Midrash is to demonstrate that nobody could accept the Torah other than Jews, because the Torah is meant specifically for the Jews and the Torah fits only the Jews. In other words, this Midrash doesn't mean that G-d offered the other nations kashrut and Passover. It wouldn't make sense to come to the Egyptians and command them to eat matzah and maror because of the suffering of their forefathers in Egypt. G-d came to the other nations and offered them not the 613 mitzvahs of Torah that are addressed to Jews. He offered them the seven mitzvahs which the Torah demands of them and said, "Do you accept these seven mitzvahs without hesitation and without question?" And they said no; they first wanted to hear what the commandments were before accepting. Whereas when G-d came to the Jews and offered us the 613 commandments, we didn't say we wanted to hear a few examples. We accepted.

So it certainly doesn't mean that G-d went around asking other people whether they wanted to be the Jewish people. They weren't Jewish and they weren't going to be Jewish. If you want Jews, you go to Abraham; if you want Egyptians, you go to Egypt. There is no choice.

One further consideration. The statement that we are the chosen people comes from the description of the giving of the Torah.

Just prior to the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai, G-d commanded Moses to tell the people to prepare to receive the Torah and become to Him "a chosen people." But if we think about it, we realize that G-d was referring to the people whom He had already taken out of Egypt, with ten plagues and with miracles and with the crossing of the sea and so forth, because they were Jewish. He took them out of Egypt and brought them to Mt. Sinai, in order to give them the Torah. If they became a "chosen people" upon receiving the Torah, the question is, who were they until then? They certainly weren't strangers to G-d. They were obviously already distinguished; they were already earmarked for something special. Otherwise, why did G-d take them out of Egypt?

What Is a Jew?
The chosen aspect of being Jewish is not really a description of the Jew. A Jew is a created condition. G-d created grass, trees, stones, water, animals, humans, and Jews.

But the statement that the soul of a Jew comes from G-d's "thought" means that the soul of a Jew is not something that comes from an external expression such as speech, but rather from an internal, personal, intimate place similar to thought. Therefore the soul of a Jew is a part of G-d and not a creation at all.

A person in this condition, who has the spark or dimension of a Jewish soul (not Jewish "qualities" that we think we can recognize, because Jewishness is a part of a Jewish soul and it's not visible), feels uncomfortable and his soul forces him to convert. That's why the traditional response to a would-be convert is to discourage him. We put him off and tell him it's difficult and not worth it, it's dangerous, and so forth. If he refuses to be discouraged, we know he is this kind of convert who is moved by some spark in his soul to become Jewish and it is irresistible - he himself cannot say no to it.]
We find throughout the Torah statements that have parallels. For example, we are told to love G-d our G-d with all our hearts, all our souls and all our might; and we are told to love our fellow Jews as ourselves. Another example is that we are told that just as we must fear G-d, we must fear the tzaddik (righteous person).

In other words, anything we're going to do for G-d, we must do for our fellow Jews, and anything we must do for our fellow Jews, we must do for G-d. We are to treat other Jews as Divine beings, because that's what they are, and that's why to love G-d is to follow commandments but also to love each other. Our feelings for G-d carry over to the parts of G-d that exist in this physical world (our fellow Jews), and our feelings about these parts of G-d eventually carry over to G-d Himself.
What we're talking about is the soul of a person, and the soul is G-d. When we refer to the Shechinah, the feminine part of G-d, the part of G-d that dwells on earth, the part of G-d that is within us, it means the collective Jewish soul.

Knowing what a Jew is, a part of G-d, the disturbing question is: Why would G-d send a part of Himself into a finite, limited, and sometimes even gross physical condition? It doesn't seem right and it doesn't seem appropriate for a Divine Being to be present in such un-G-dly conditions. So why would G-d send the soul from the highest heights down to the lowest depths? The question comes from the recognition that the soul of a Jew is not part of creation, and we therefore wonder what the soul is doing here in the created world.
The First Commentary
Rashi asks a question about the first verse of the first chapter of the first book of the Torah, "In the beginning G-d created Heaven and earth." Rashi's question is, why does the Torah (Mishnah of Talmud Bavli) begin with a description of creation rather than with commandments? Since the Torah is basically a book of commandments (Of the rabbi's who sat upon the seat of Moshe Rabbineau) and a guide as to how we should behave in our daily life, the Torah should get right down to instructing us on our behavior. And yet it begins with a lengthy description of creation and the history of what happened from creation until the giving of the Torah. Rashi answers that this was done because there would come a time when the nations would accuse the Jews of being crooks and imperialists. They would say, "You stole the land from the nations!" Therefore, the Torah begins with the story of creation so that we will know how to respond to this charge.
We will say: "G-d created Heaven and earth. Earth belongs to G-d. G-d gave it to the Canaanites for a while, then he took it from them and gave it to us." So our answer is that we can't "steal" the land because it belongs to G-d, and G-d gives it to whomever he wants.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, commenting on this Rashi, asks: All this, a book and a half, so that we will know what to say to an anti-Semite who calls us crooks? This doesn't seem right. In addition, couldn't Rashi find a more appropriate explanation for a five-year old (Rashi wrote his commentary for children)? Does a five-year old have to know about anti-Semitism and imperialism?

The Rebbe points out that this Rashi, which is basically a quote from the Talmud, doesn't say "the Land of Israel." It doesn't say we will be accused of stealing "the Land of Israel" -- it says that we will be accused of stealing the land of the nations. What is "the land of the nations"? In addition, Rashi doesn't say that this is the response to the accusation of an anti-Semite. This is a response to the Jew who thinks that the anti-Semite in this case might be correct. Why would a Jew agree with an anti-Semite? For this, we need to understand exactly what it was that happened at Mt. Sinai.

Therefore, they needed some kind of introduction, some kind of warning that what was about to be revealed was going to sound very simple and down to earth. They needed such a warning because they were expecting spiritual, holy, Heavenly things, and for good reason -- they had just been told that they had to leave Egypt because they were a holy people. They were not going to understand these "pedestrian" commandments; they'd think, "Here we're gathered at Mt. Sinai to become a holy people, and we're told not to steal?! You told us not to work on Shabbos, but what about the rest of the week? If we're a Heavenly people, we shouldn't work on any of the days! If we're a Heavenly people, it's not enough to say 'don't steal' -- we shouldn't have money altogether! What do You mean, run an honest business? We shouldn't be running businesses at all! What do You mean eat kosher animals? How does that make us holy? We shouldn't eat at all! We should be fasting as much as possible, and if that means dying, so what? We belong in Heaven anyway!" In short, what they would say is: "If we are a Heavenly people, then what are we doing on earth? Why are we engaged in earthy activities?"

Strangers in a Strange Land
The world belongs to the nations. We are not of the world, we are of Heaven. We are strangers so we're trespassing on their land. Which land? Any land. Earth belongs to the nations of the world (which is why they're called the nations of the world).
Yet they deny the KINGDOM OF GOD through Christ the LORD, so they want all the earth and it's inhabitant's to be their servants as the gods unto their god of this world, their god, satan
So G-d starts the Torah not with the first commandment, because the commandments are all related to the physical world and we wouldn't have been able to understand. G-d first had to warn us by telling us that in the beginning He created Heaven and earth. Heaven is not any more a place for G-d than is earth; the Heavens also were created by G-d. Therefore, the part of G-d which is the soul of the Jew doesn't belong in Heaven any more than it belongs on earth.
The reason for the existence of Heaven is that it was a stepping stone toward the creation of the earth. The purpose of creation is to reveal G-dliness that is not immediately evident in the physical world, to bring that which is otherwise un-G-dly to G-dliness. How is this to be done? By having the Jewish soul come down into this world to engage in physical, worldly activity, but from a G-dly perspective, that is, through the mitzvahs of Torah.

This means that whereas the nature of the physical condition seems to imply that the world created itself, and therefore has no allegiance to the Creator and is not indebted to a Creator, when we do mitzvahs in the physical world, using physical objects, we reveal a fundamental truth. The physical world is not something separate from G-d, but is G-d's creation, created for a G-dly reason, which is to reveal the G-dliness that is concealed within the physical condition.
Looking at a table tells us nothing about G-d. On the contrary, it distracts us from G-d. It seems to be saying, "Look! I'm a table! Been here all along. I'm a reality unto myself." But by doing mitzvahs within the physical world, we make it a bit more transparent, like washing the dirt off of a dirty window so that we can see through it more clearly. We can see that physicality is not meant to block G-d out; on the contrary, it, the physical thing, can become and must become a window to G-d.

This is what elevates the world and gives it a G-dly purpose. If we don't elevate the world, the world remains what it appears to be, which is a contradiction to G-d.
A Jew is therefore a G-dly being sent to this world on a mission. So the Jew experiences a certain discontent, which is unique to Jews, and the essence of that discontent is: "Why am I here? What am I doing here?" Every human being asks himself this question, because every human being has a desire to accomplish something. For an intelligent person, life has to make sense and have a purpose. But with a Jew it's slightly different. Intelligent beings ask, "How do we make the most of this existence?" The Jewish condition is that inwardly, consciously or unconsciously, we not only want to know how to make the best of life, but we don't understand why there's life at all. Everybody can ask this question in a philosophy class, but the Jew is truly bothered by it, bothered in his gut. What is this all about? Not, "How do I make the most of this life?" Not, "What am I supposed to do?" But, "Why life? Why existence at all?"

And because we find it difficult to answer that question, we find a disproportionate number of Jews in the world who don't know what to do with themselves. It's not an exaggeration that although we are less than 2% of the general population in the US, at the same time we are over 40% of all the cults, of all the searching, of all the revolutions and upheavals and changes that take place in the world. This is because we are not content; we sense that something to do with the very condition of existence needs to be explained, and we are not finding an explanation. So we're ready to turn everything upside down and throw everything away and start all over again in order to find the justification for existence.
The Jewish Mission
A non-Jew gives charity and a Jew gives charity. But they are doing two different things.
When a poor person comes to a Jew and asks for something to eat, the Jew is actually lowering himself to give the poor person a meal, because this is not his field.
They do it so that men can see them do it
The person hasn't asked for spiritual nourishment, for Torah. He's asked for mundane, everyday, physical nourishment. Stomachs and food -- where does that fit in? We are a G-dly people, we have G-dly souls. Our place is in Heaven, in fact higher than Heaven because Heaven is also a created place, and we are a part of G-d. When the Jews came to Moses in the desert and said, "We need meat," Moses turned to G-d and said, "Do you hear what they want from me? They want me to provide them with meat! I'm a teacher, a Rabbi, a prophet, and they want me to give them meat?! What has the world come to?" And G-d said, "Yes, give them meat."
Tell them of Jesus the Christ, and the sparrow and the Lilly
So every Jew, when he is faced with someone who is hungry, could say, "This is not my business. My business is with G-dly things, holy things." But G-d said, "Keep kosher, eat kosher animals, don't eat non-kosher animals. If you see someone is hungry, feed him. If someone needs clothes, dress him. If someone is sick, heal him." So we say, "OK, if that's what G-d wants, we'll do it. It's not our line, it's not our field, it's not our place, but it's our mission. And because it's our mission, we will leave our place and get involved with the physical world; we'll feed the hungry, dress the poor, heal the sick, and so on." (But only the fellow jew)
This explains why the first instruction given to the first Jew, Abraham, was that he should go away from his father's home and his birthplace, go away from his natural condition, tendencies and impulses. This applies not only to the first Jew but to every Jew, to every Jewish soul. Every Jewish soul is told by G-d, "You must leave your place with Me, your native home, and go to the place I will tell you. Not to the place where you belong, but to the place where I will send you. Leave the place in which you belong and fulfill the mission for which you are sent to earth. That mission is to obey My commandments."

When a Jew gives tzedakah, he's basically a Divine (Divinity-Deity) being accepting human obligations; he is basically humbling himself, lowering himself into the worldly human condition. They're doing opposite things. The same act, but coming from opposite directions and accomplishing opposite results.

Anti-Semitism
Let's return to the question of anti-Semitism. The non-Jew comes to the Jew and says, "What are you? Explain yourself." What do we respond?
We are the serpent seed, a good start.
We make up stories, we make excuses, we start from Adam and Eve, we discuss Noah, and we give a history lesson, but we don't answer the question. Sometimes the question is asked more bluntly: "You are the chosen people. It says so in the Bible. What does this mean?" To which we respond, "Chosen? I don't know about chosen, maybe we're a little different . . ."
The non-Jew can't get a straight answer. Jews don't give straight answers to this type of question because we don't know how to answer. We don't know what we are because nobody ever answered that question for us. We were told we're Jewish, our mothers are Jewish, our grandparents are Jewish, so we're Jewish and that's it. But the non-Jew isn't asking, "Who is a Jew," he's asking "What is a Jew," and we don't know, so we fake it and we make up stories that don't hold water.

But nobody in the world believes for a moment that we don't know who we are. They reason that if they were the chosen people, they would know it. How can you be chosen and not know it? It's ridiculous. So when the non-Jew comes to the Jew and the Jew says that he doesn't know and can't give a straight answer, what is the non-Jew supposed to think? He goes home and asks himself why the Jews won't give a straight answer.

When we're asked this question and we have to answer standing on one foot, we have to find the right words with which to convey our message. Here you have a Divine soul, it's living on earth, it has a mission, but how is it going to operate -- what is it going to do? Israel Has Nuclear Weapons and MUST Use Them and All Those Arming the Arabs Must Share the Pain!
Israel must notify each of the Arab nations and their Western backers that, if Israel is attacked or is about to be attacked with unconventional weapons (or overwhelming conventional forces), there will be a "Share the Pain" response. Given the Arab world seems to be in unanimous agreement on the fate of Israel, one must presume any future action of each will likely be known by their partners. Even if they do not actually tell each other, nevertheless, their intelligence mechanisms will have penetrated each other's political and military organizations. So, in brief - they will know.
Therefore, Israel would be wise to notify each country that, either pre-emptively or as a vicious second-strike option, Israel will hit all hostile parties with nuclear weapons, regardless of who launched the first attack. Israel will hold all collectively and severally responsible - as if they had met and conspired together.
Let each of those nations now, in the interests of their own survival, become Israel's informant and protector. Let them task their spies in each of the Arab countries to dig for attack plans. Let them each demand of the others' leaders that they must stand down their plans to attack and destroy Israel. Let them, for their own survival, inform Israel and join in the pre-emptive attack or stand ready to see their cities evaporate along with those of Israel.
