Soldiers and police who will take part in the operation to uproot the 8,000 Gaza settlers will be unarmed, hoping that sheer weight of numbers will overwhelm the opposition of the settlers.

However, national police chief Moshe Karadi said the police had held back from using its full force on Monday.

"The Israeli police will match its force to the severity of the disruptions that occur in the future," Karadi added.

The United States, meanwhile, confirmed that Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas will meet President George W. Bush at the White House on May 26.

What did Arafat die of?

Members of the ruling Fatah party have launched a campaign on the Internet to collect one million signatures to demand that the Palestinian Authority launch a thorough investigation into Yasser Arafat's death.

Meanwhile, Arafat's private physician, Ashraf al-Kurdi, ruled out the possibility that the Palestinian leader had died of AIDS, saying a blood test he had conducted showed he was not suffering from the disease.

Entitled "Who killed Arafat," the campaign is being launched on one of Fatah's official sites (www.Fateh.tv). A statement issued by the organizers said their goal was to force the PA leadership to launch a serious investigation to end the mystery surrounding Arafat's death.

Hinting that Arafat may have been poisoned as part of a conspiracy by some of his aides and foreign parties, the group called for an immediate investigation into the case.

"We want the Palestinian Authority to solve the mystery surrounding the death of the Prince of the Martyrs," it said. "We want an internal investigation to reveal if insiders were involved and whether they were aided by foreign parties."

They demanded an investigation into why Kurdi was not allowed to accompany Arafat to Paris, where he was treated in a French military hospital. Moreover, it called for establishing an independent team of specialists to study Arafat's medical file.

Kurdi, a former Jordanian minister of health, accused Arafat's widow, Suha, of standing behind the decision to bar him from traveling with Arafat to Paris. "There were strict instructions not to contact me by his wife, according to Palestinian Authority leaders," he told a French journalist.

Asked about rumors that Arafat was a homosexual and that he had died of AIDS, the physician said: "I heard rumors he died of AIDS, but not rumors that he was a homosexual. I have done the HIV tests many times before on Arafat as a routine test. It was never positive."

He said the last time he had conducted an AIDS test on Arafat was about six months before he died.

Dr. Kurdi said that he was permitted to see Arafat only two weeks after he became ill. "I was told that Suha refused me access. Why, I don't know. When I saw him, I decided he must go abroad because there were tests he needed that couldn't be done in Ramallah," he added.

"He had lost half of his body weight. He had this reddish spot covering his face, and his coloring was metallic yellow. He was conscious, talking and joking, even. His cognitive functions were perfect. After that I asked all the doctors to meet. We concluded he had platelet deficiency.

"Some of the causes for this were not clear, so I asked he be transferred to Paris as soon as possible. But even the French doctors didn't ask me for his previous history."

Asked if Arafat knew he was dying, the physician replied: "Yes. Yes, actually I heard from him in Ramallah, that he thought he'd been poisoned."

Kurdi called for an autopsy to determine the cause of Arafat's death. "I suspect Arafat died of a 'killing poison,' a catalyst. The death was due to this," he said

WASH—May 18-MNA—The horrible aftermath caused by Newsweek Magazine’s faulty journalism had the White House scrambling to mend already tenuous relations with Islam and European nations whose citizenry already worn thin on U.S. foreign policy.  White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan could only say it was “puzzling.”  This issue is not the only thing leaving the Bush Administration puzzled, but the course of events since Yassir Arafat’s death may leave them with little answers unless they look to the Bible.

The most recent meeting in April between Prime Minister Arial Sharon and President Bush in Texas resulted in a mending of fences and a strengthening of relations between the two leaders--only to be followed by disruption from the moment Bush declared that he made it very clear to Sharon the U.S. position that there will be a Palestinian state living side by side in peace with Israel and that Israel should do nothing to hinder this goal.

Taking an inventory of current events demonstrates the nearly unprecedented difficulties the Bush Administration faces on a daily basis.  The nuclear clock has ticked forward as both North Korea and Iran have bullied ahead with programs to build nuclear weapons.

15 mortar shells fired at Gush Katif

Mortar barrages continued to fall on Gush Katif Wednesday afternoon, as the third set of salvos damaged a Gush Katif hothouse and lightly wounded a civilian near a Neve Dekalim synagogue.

The IDF reported that a total of 15 mortars have fallen within the Gush Katif settlements. Additionally, two Kassam rockets were fired at Gadid, also in Gush Katif.

Earlier Wednesday, an IAF helicopter gunship fired a missile at a Hamas terror cell believed responsible for firing mortar shells at Gush Katif settlements from a cemetery in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis.

Initial Palestinian reports claim one terrorist was seriously wounded and the other sustained light wounds.

The aerial raid, the first such attack since the beginning of the year, came in response to the firing of at least four mortar shells at Gush Katif settlements earlier on Wednesday. Settlers said at least seven mortar shells were fired but the IDF said it was only able to confirm four landings and was still searching for others.

The mortar barrage was apparently a response to the death of a Islamic Jihad operative overnight near Rafah. The IDF said that Ahmed Barhoum was apparently killed when a bomb he was carrying exploded prematurely; the army denied claims he had been killed by IDF gunfire.

According to Southern Command officers, PA security officials informed them that Barhoum's body was full of shrapnel apparently caused by the bomb he was carrying.

Israel had not responded to an increase in mortar and rocket attacks aimed at the settlements in recent weeks, prompting strong criticism from the residents, who said the government was leaving them defenseless.

"What do you expect us to do if they are attacking us," Israeli government spokesman Raanan Gissin said, adding that part of the truce agreement allowed Israel to respond to attacks from Palestinian areas if the Palestinian security forces themselves are doing nothing to prevent the violence.

Meanwhile, the army said that during the night, two anti-tank rockets and shots were fired a number of times at IDF posts and patrols near Rafah. IDF soldiers returned fire with light weapons but did not identify hitting anyone.

It was only later that the Palestinians reported that Barhoum had been shot and killed by the IDF, but an initial probe carried out by the PA revealed that this was false. Southern command officials said they could not rule out the possibility that Barhoum was planning to detonate a bomb near IDF troops

100 Israelis to testify in Florida trial of alleged Jihad fundraisers

Some 100 survivors of terror attacks, relatives of those killed, police investigators, Magen David Adom paramedics, and ZAKA volunteers will testify in what American authorities regard as the most important terrorist trial in the United States since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The group will be flown to Tampa, Florida early next month to serve as prosecution witnesses in the trial of four Arab-Americans accused of belonging to Islamic Jihad and raising funds to finance terror attacks, including some that took place in Israel.

Foreign nationals testifying against "Americans"

The trial is due to start on June 6, with jury selection to begin this week.

The Israeli witnesses, flying to Florida at the expense of the U.S. government, include survivors of terror attacks going back to 1989, as well as relatives of some of those killed, eyewitnesses, doctors from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir in South Tel Aviv and police officers.

Dozens of boxes of documents in Hebrew are also being flown to the trial, for the prosecution's use.

Among the terror attacks for which the four are being charged are the Bus 405 incident, from 1989, when an Islamic Jihad man forced an Egged bus off the highway and into a ravine on the road to Jerusalem, the 1992 pitchfork attack at a training base, the 1995 double suicide bombings at Beit Lid, the 1996 bombing at the Dizengoff Center, and a terror attack in Karkur in 2002. More than 100 Israelis and Americans were killed in the attacks mentioned in the 118-page indictment.

The Israelis will be asked to testify about their experiences.

The lead defendant in the case is Sami al-Arian, a University of South Florida computer engineering professor who has been held by authorities for the last two years. Also on trial are Sameeh Hammoudeh, Hatim Naji Fsariz and Ghassan Zayed Ballut.

The indictment also names non-U.S. citizens who are absent from the U.S. and therefore not being charged. Most prominent of these is Ramadan Salah, a friend and partner of Al-Arian and the head of Islamic Jihad, who lives in Damascus. Also named in the indictment are known Islamic Jihad leaders from Gaza, London, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.

There are more than 50 individual charges being leveled against the four defendants, including running an organized crime ring, membership in a criminal organization and financing terror. They are also accused of murder, money laundering, conspiracy and extortion.

The FBI investigation against the four has gone on for some 10 years, both inside the U.S. and abroad. Much of the evidence was gathered via electronic surveillance and wiretaps, a result of close cooperation between U.S. and foreign police, including the Israel Police.

In Israel, investigators from the International Crimes Unit worked on the case. Although there is no gag order, police have refused to divulge anything about the case to the press as the trial has approached. HOUSTON (AP) - Like a scene from the horror movie "The Birds," large black grackles are swooping down on downtown Houston and attacking people's heads, hair and backs.

Authorities closed off a sidewalk after the aggressive birds, which can have 2-foot wingspans, flew out of magnolia trees Monday in front of the County Administration Building.

"They were just going crazy," said constable Wilbert Jue, who works at the building. "They were attacking everybody that walked by."

The grackles zeroed in on a lawyer who shooed a bird away before he tripped and injured his face, Jue said. The lawyer was treated for several cuts.

Another bird attacked a deputy county clerk.

Two women came to help her after she fell to the ground, and the birds attacked them as well. The group escaped by running into the building.

When I first saw Episode I, I instantly understood the plot. Being a student of history, it made total sense. But, I was amazed, time and time again, when talking to educated adults who were also Star Wars fans that they didn't get it. They'd say, "it doesn't make any sense."

This phenomenon got even worse when Episode II came out. People were totally confused. They didn't understand a plot that children could grasp.

For those who are still confused, here a plot synopsis in a nutshell:

In Episode I, Senator Palpatine is an obscure politician from the peaceful world of Naboo. Palpatine influences Naboo not to pay its Trade Federation taxes. The corrupt mercantile Trade Federation cartel then blockades the Naboo system and begins a ground invasion of its capitol, taking its orders from the sinister leader Darth Sidious, Lord of the Sith, who is one and the same with Senator Palpatine.

Episode II begins with a widening conflict that threatens to destroy the hundred thousand-year-old Republic. The newly- elected Chancellor (Palpatine) is able to use the expanding crisis as a pretext to pass police state legislation and to launch a mammoth military buildup.

As in Episode I, Darth Sidious is in control of the separatists led by the charismatic Count Dooku, who is his secret apprentice, Darth Tyrannus. Darth Sidious uses his agent (Count Dooku) to create a crisis that threatens to destroy the Republic, thus threatening the Republic's very existence and manipulating the Senate into giving him the powers of a dictator.

Hollywood Movies: Art Imitates Life

I've noticed with fantasy people have trouble understanding the concept of would-be tyrants creating crises so they can offer the solution. We see popular Hollywood films peppered with this idea. For example:

In the blockbuster, The Incredibles, the evil genius, Syndrome, wants to be worshipped as a super hero, so he stages a robotic attack on a US city which he plans to then foil and become the people's savior.

In the film, Final Fantasy, a General who wants to be given dictatorial powers opens the gates so the enemy can attack New York and then discredit his peacenik opponents.

There are countless examples of this, and I've noticed that when I talk to adults who have seen these films they don't understand the plots. But, when I talk to children they completely grasp it.

From a sociological/psychological perspective, why is there this blind spot in adults? Is it being engineered into us? Are we in denial? If so many intelligent people can't grasp a children's plot line, no wonder they can't really understand what's behind 9/11.

Missing the Big Picture

Infowars.com has seen scores of mainline publications from CBS News to Japan Today drawing parallels between America's predatory militarism and the grasping empire of the Star Wars universe.

What they've missed is the central point that Lucas makes time and time again. Criminal elements within the government that seek to overthrow freedom and replace it with slavery get their power through carrying out terrorist attacks and manufacturing enemies that they fund and control.

Political officers in the empire wear the black uniforms that even more closely resemble the dreaded garb of the German political police, the SS.

Star Wars also acts as a type of cultural feedback loop. Star Wars' villains are modeled after the Nazis (Darth Vader's helmet is simply a slightly more pronounced German artillery solder's head piece), and, in turn, modern governments are themselves influenced by the visigothic-style of Star Wars.

The press reported in the early 1980's that while Ronald Reagan was campaigning for President in 1979 he was camping at Bohemian Grove in Northern California with business leaders. They came up with the idea to give the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) the catchy name "Star Wars." '

I probably shouldn't be surprised by George Lucas' insight, his understanding of this greatest of secrets. In closing, it's important to see George Lucas' first feature film, THX-1138, based on a student film he produced in college. THX, which has become Lucas' signet, appearing in all of his films and most of his products, tells the story of man totally dehumanized in a forced-drugged, shaved-head police state and how one man stands up and breaks free of that system.

That's the heart of why the public loves Lucas. Not just that he tells the truth in a way that gets past the censors, but that he reminds us that the individual can stand up against organized evil and win.

Couples, even single women, who want to choose the sex of their baby in the early embryonic stage for social -- and not just medical -- reasons can now apply to a new committee appointed by the Health Ministry. The seven-member body, to be chaired by Prof. Vaclav Insler -- chairman of the National Council for Gynecology, Neonatology and Genetics -- will rule on whether pre-gestational diagnosis (PGD) will be permitted to select a girl or a boy.

Among the expected applicants are couples who have several children of only one sex and want one of the opposite sex.

Health Ministry director-general Prof. Avi Yisraeli issued a directive on Wednesday regarding the committee, whose work will be coordinated by Aviva Nimrodi-Botzer of the ministry in Jerusalem. PGD is offered at six hospitals around the country -- Shaare Zedek Medical Center and Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem, Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer and Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba.

Until now, the decision on whether to allow PGD for medical reasons has been up to each of the hospitals that perform the procedure. Except in one known case officially approved by the ministry, all PGD procedures have been performed here so far when genetic history indicated a risk of having a baby with a genetic disorder.

The committee -- which will include experts in law, medical genetics and obstetrics and gynecology, a social worker and a clergyman -- will decide whether a couple or single woman can produce embryos by in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and choose the desired sex among the resultant embryos for social reasons.

The technique was initially developed to help couples with a history of serious genetic diseases such as Tay- Sachs and familial dysautonomia, which occur mostly in Jews, as well as thalassemia, myotonic dystrophy, neurofibromatosis, fragile X, hemophilia, and Marfan's syndrome, which occur in the general population. But the same technology can be used to determine the sex of the pre-embryo by seeing if it has XX (female) or XY (male) chromosomes.

Although known genetic diseases in newly created embryos can be identified using this technique, the error rate can be relatively high and damage could be done to the embryo. But removing the blastomere's polar bodies -- which are microscopic and unnecessary cells on the unfertilized and fertilized egg that will in any case degenerate -- has been found to be much more accurate.

Last December, a Jerusalem woman suffering from myotonic dystrophy gave birth to a healthy baby identified as a normal ovum using polar body testing; Shaare Zedek experts, who studied the special technique abroad, were the first in Israel and one of the few in the world do do so. Few PGD embryos, however, require polar body testing.

The famed archaeologist, who is the inspiration for the “Indiana Jones” series,(Temple of Doom)  has spent most of his life searching for the Ark of the Covenant. The ark was the resting place of the Ten Commandments written by Moshe (Moses) on Mount Sinai, and was hidden just before the destruction of the First Temple.

The Talmud says the Ark is hidden in a secret passage under the Temple Mount. Jones says that in fact, the Ark was brought through a secret passage beneath the mount – and that same natural tunnel in fact continues 18 miles into the Judean Desert.

Throughout the many years of his quest, Jones has been in close contact and under the tutelage of numerous Rabbis and Kabbalists. Jones, who is extremely knowledgeable in Torah, Talmud and Kabbalah, has now received permission from both known and hidden Kabbalists to finally uncover the lost ark.

Dr. Jones, who divides his time between Texas and Israel, has been here since March 9th ready to finally reveal the Ark. However, Jones has been waiting for permission from a mysterious Kabbalist, as well as for project funding to come through.

Jones’s daughter Sarah converted to Judaism many years ago and currently lives in the Shomron. She has been in touch with a great unnamed Kabbalist from whom she requested a blessing on behalf of her father to merit finding the ark.

As recently as last month, the rabbi, who only communicates via messenger, told Jones that the time was not yet right to discover the Temple vessels.

Last Thursday, Dr. Jones received a communication from the rabbi reading, “The time is right.”

Noahide guru Jones, who predicted the Six Day War, says that the State of Israel is passing through the same biblical straights as the generation that entered Israel for the first time after the exodus from Egypt. “If history repeats itself, the history itself is prophecy,” Jones says.

But no, because of the evil report of Golda Meir and Motta Gur and Moshe Dayan, who said ‘We cannot do that, world opinion will be against us.’ So Israel was sentenced to 38 years more – and June the 7th [2005], Jerusalem Day, will be the 38th year.

Jones believes that the Jewish prophecies regarding the greatly anticipated redemption are occuring in front of our eyes.

Jones' escapades and explorations were the inspiration for the blockbuster movie 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' of the 'Indiana Jones' trilogy. The man who wrote the first draft of the film, Randolph Fillmore, was one of the volunteers who worked with Jones in 1977.

Jones recounts his early explorations into the tunnels which lead from the ancient Old City of Jerusalem to the foot of the Dead Sea. “My son and I went an hour and 20 minutes into the tunnel. There were so many branches and we didn’t have anything to mark the route, so I said, ‘We better get out of here and come back with a roll of string.’ Then I made the mistake of asking permission to do it. That was before I learned that Israel is a lot like heaven - it is a lot easier to get forgiveness than it is permission.”

Now after receiving the blessings of Judaism's top Kabbalists and Rabbis, Jones is excited to uncover his life's pursuit. He believes the ark will be discovered by Tisha B'Av, a day of repeated tragedy in Jewish history, the anniversary of the destruction of both the First and Second Holy Temples.

Dr. Jones says the discovery of the lost ark will “flip the whole world right-side-up.”
