3,000 Police "Protecting" Temple Mount

22 Jews arrrested approaching the Temple Mount; hundreds of Moslems snuck onto the holy site; 2 policemen hurt by Arab-thrown rocks; police deployed to prevent rock-attacks against Wall worshipers.

The police announced last week that they would not allow the fledgling Revavah organization to implement its plans to bring 10,000 Jews to the Temple Mount today. Taking no chances, the police closed the site to all Jews - but Revavah spokesmen said they would not give up their plans to try to reach Judaism's holy site on this, the first day of the month of Nissan.

Some 3,000 policemen were stationed in and around the Temple Mount in an effort to contain feared flare-ups.

In the event, less than 100 people attempted to show up for the event, leaving the police largely unemployed. Over 20 people were arrested, reportedly on suspicion of trying to disturb the peace. Some of them, such as Revavah leader David Ha'Ivri, were arrested even before they had a chance to come near the Western Wall plaza and Temple Mount entrance.

The police justified the decision to close the holy site to Jews by citing the Arab threats of violence if Jews are permitted on the Mount. Vague fears of a "plot" to destroy the Mosque of Omar and the like were also noted. Revavah leaders ridiculed these explanations, saying that every visitor is thoroughly checked, and that individual suspects could be barred from entry. They further said that the police "caved in" to the Arab threats, instead of dealing with them

The police allowed Moslems onto the Temple Mount, but only those over age 40 with Israeli ID cards. The Jews asked for the same restrictions, but were turned down. Police held up busloads of Arabs this morning outside Lions Gate, and did not let them enter. Two policemen were injured when Arabs and Moslems threw rocks.

Hundreds of Moslems under the permitted age snuck onto the holy site over the night - as did at least one non-Israeli-Arab this morning: The chief of the Hamas terrorist organization in Judea/Samaria, Sheikh Hassan Yusuf. In interviews with Arab television stations from the holy area, Yusuf said that Hamas is committed to retaining quiet, and that he arrived to calm the heated atmosphere – but he also called upon all Moslems to "come to save the Temple Mount from the Jews." He was arrested after he left the Temple Mount.

The Moslem prayers this afternoon passed uneventfully.

David Ha'Ivri, leader of Revavah, was arrested this morning by police shortly after he entered the Old City. He was accompanied by some 20 Revavah members, who were told to leave the area. 

Opponents of the disengagement in Tel Aviv took advantage of the heavy police deployment in the Old City this morning and blocked the main Ayalon Highway in both directions. Police arrived on the scene some ten minutes later and arrested 25 demonstrators, but traffic remained clogged for a while afterwards. Police fear similar scenarios in the months ahead

Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch and state-run Israel Radio's talk show commentator Gabi Gazit exchanged barbs against Revavah this morning, calling it a "passing fringe group," and mocking the small number of its members who arrived this morning. Rabbi Rabinovitch said that almost all rabbis forbid Jews from setting foot anywhere on the Mount because of the grave Torah prohibition - punishable by "karet" (cutting off) - against entering the Holy of Holies and nearby areas. Today's ban includes even those areas that have nothing to do with the holy areas – but Rabbi Rabinovitch repeatedly emphasized the "grave 'karet'" prohibition that even observant and knowledgeable Jews flirt with by entering anywhere on the Mount.

Many rabbis have ruled, in opposition to the Chief Rabbis, that entry to certain known areas of the Temple Mount is permitted after proper precautions have been taken. Haifa's Chief Rabbi, for instance - Chief Rabbinate Council member Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen - recently sent a telegram to Chief Rabbis Amar and Metzger saying he was "surprised and saddened" to learn of their signatures on the "renewed ban on ascent to the Temple Mount [even] in areas that are clearly not the site of the Temple." He noted that the Rabbinate Council dealing with this issue had not yet come to any conclusion. Rabbi Cohen feels that the question is not a Halakhic [Jewish legal] one, but rather "a practical and scientific one. The thousands of yeshiva students, led by the Yesha Rabbis Council, are not suspected of violating Biblical commandments, and they deserve great credit for their selfless dedication and their ascent to the Temple Mount."

It is 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon April 10, 2005, the first day of the Jewish month Nisan 5765, so far the blood shed has not begun on the Temple Mount. Keep watching, saints.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Thousands of Israeli police sealed off a flashpoint Jerusalem shrine on Sunday to foil a march by ultranationalist Jews that could have inflamed violence, complicating Israel's plan to withdraw from Gaza.

Thirty-one protesters were arrested in scuffles after authorities banned the march.

Palestinians had warned they would scrap their ceasefire if Jews rallied at the site revered by Muslims as al-Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) and Jews as Temple Mount. A few hundred adherents of the Revava ("Multitude") movement, bent on derailing the Gaza pullout plan, showed up for a march organizers said would draw 10,000 to a site at the heart of the Middle East conflict and scene of bloodshed in the past.

But a blockade of all approaches to the shrine by police appeared to nip any march in the bud and only several dozen protesters actually tried to push their way into the site.

They shouted "Gestapo" at police and injured an officer with a thrown rock, but dispersed in mid-afternoon. Thirteen of those detained were minors and all were freed after a few hours.

"We came here to show the world we are unable to pray even at our holiest place, the Temple Mount," said Jewish protester Efraim Cohen, 21, a West Bank settler.

"But if (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon thinks it will be as easy to expel Jews from Gaza as he has dealt with us today, he is mistaken. The struggle will continue," he said, before being hustled away by police.

Four Israeli rightist parliamentarians were barred as well.

Hundreds of Palestinian counter-demonstrators also clashed with police on horseback at an Old City gate before being driven back. Eight were arrested, including a man disguised as a woman intercepted inside the Old City en route to the shrine.

Israel had barred Palestinian men under 40 from the shrine on Sunday to minimize any risk of violence with Jews.

Jerusalem Post: Netanyahu Attack Highlights "Split" In Chabad – Netanyahu Attacker Known Chabad Activist

In an excellent article, Mati Wagner of the Jerusalem Post lays bare the split in Chabad:

Mainstream Chabad leaders are vehemently opposing an assembly of thousands of their more extreme colleagues who equate disengagement with the Holocaust and have called on soldiers and police to die before evacuating Jews from their homes.

The tension between vying factions within Chabad has reached a new high in the wake of an altercation at Kfar Chabad last week in which Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was verbally attacked [other reports have it as a physical attack with plates and food thrown at Mr. Netanyahu, whose car tires were also slashed] while attending a wedding.

But why is "mainstream" Chabad opposed to the anti-Disengagement demonstration?

"Battles against the government can only cause damage to Chabad," said [Chabad spokeman Rabbi Menachem] Brod.

In other words, it's bad for fundraising.

"There are extremists who believe the Rebbe is alive," said a haredi journalist and resident of Kfar Chabad. "They are a really intense group of people who believe in spreading this idea that the Rebbe is the messiah. People who are attracted to this fundamentalist understanding of the messiah are also less likely to see the intricacies of the disengagement issue.

"In contrast, the more mainstream Chabadniks may believe he is the messiah, but they have a slightly more complex understanding of it. [I.e., demonstrations hurt fundraising.] As a result, they are also more likely to be sensitive to the complexities of disengagement."

Among the organizers of the anti-Disengagement demonstration is Chabad activist Yoni Kahana, who was arrested for allegedly attacking Mr. Netanyahu.

As we've often noted, the only difference between Chabad messianists and so-called anti-messianists is their public relations. Both groups, which together include the vast majority of Chabad followers worldwide, believe the late Rebbe is the messiah. The split is on how, or if, that belief should be publicized.

Why have the NY Jewish Week, the JTA, the Jewish Press, etc. avoided coverage of this issue? Why was their coverage of the late Rebbe's 10th yartzeit last July so weak? Why do they print Chabad press releases as if they were news stories?

Isn't it about time for them to pony up on the record and explain their tellingly tepid coverage

Chabad rabbis brand Sharon 'Nazi collaborator'

Branding Ariel Sharon a "Nazi collaborator," a group of Chabad rabbis, calling themselves the World Organization for Saving the Land and the People of Israel, sent a letter to Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz on Sunday calling for charges to be brought against the prime minister for "cooperating with the Nazis."

Three days before the anniversary of the assassination of prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, Rabbi Yekutiel Rap from New York and Rabbi Shalom Volpo from Kiryat Gat called on Mazuz to "activate the Nazis and Nazi Collaborators Law and to press charges against Sharon and his supporters."

"Terrorist organizations are the Nazis of our generation," their letter said. "There is clearly cooperation with the Nazis when the Knesset and the government plan to deport thousands of Jews from their homes in order to transfer the property to Nazi organizations."

"It is known that the Nazis did not complete their job with the end of World War II and that their representatives in our generation are terrorist organizations, who day and night declare their desire to destroy the Jewish people," their letter added.

Volpo said his letter expresses the view of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, whom he refers to as Moshiach. He dismissed criticism of his comparison between the Holocaust and the disengagement plan, saying: "The Palestinians are doing the work of the Nazis in our generation. Sharon's desire is to help our enemies who, if they could, would do again what the Nazis already did to us....

"Everything I wrote in the letter is based on what the Rebbe, who is our King and Moshiach, said. The Rebbe said transferring land to the Palestinians would endanger millions of Jews. There is no Holocaust greater than that," Volpo said.

At the end of their letter, Rap and Volpo wrote that their words should not be interpreted as incitement.

"We are only interested in shaking up the law enforcement agencies in Israel so that they will pursue justice according to the state's laws," their letter said.

According to Chabad spokesman Rabbi Menachem Brod, Rap and Volpo do not represent mainstream Chabad, but are part of a fringe group with extreme views.

Labor MK Eitan Cabel expressed shock at the comparison between Sharon and Nazi collaborators and called on Mazuz to immediately launch a criminal investigation against the letter's authors.

"It is disgraceful that these people call themselves rabbis," he said. "I call on the attorney-general to immediately launch an investigation, to press charges against these so-called rabbis, and to begin to do his job by protecting democracy in this country."

Yahad MK Yossi Sarid said Chabad "is the most annoying movement in Israel since they roll their eyes up to heaven and speak of unity, claiming they are not political, but really they are the most political of the religious movements."

Last month, the State Attorney's Office decided to launch an investigation against Women in Green leader Nadia Matar after she branded Disengagement Administration director Yonatan Bassi "a far more terrible version" of the Judenrat.

Justice Ministry officials said on Sunday that Rap's and Volpo's letter is more complicated, and the State Attorney's Office will require time to decide if an investigation should be launched.

"In the case of Matar, she sent a letter to Bassi in which she insulted him," a Justice Ministry official said. "In this case, however, the rabbis sent a letter to Mazuz asking him to launch an investigation against Sharon since he is collaborating with the Nazis, and that does not necessarily constitute an offense of insulting a public official."

Jerusalem, February 27, 2005...The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is distressed by the continuing use of Holocaust analogies by some protesters of the government of Israel's disengagement plan. 

Most recently, a conference hosted by an organization called the World Headquarters for Saving the Nation and the Land was held at the Jerusalem International Convention Center under a banner that read, "Arik Sharon, you are bringing upon us a Holocaust."  Leaflets bearing that message were passed out to the crowds.

Thousands of participants, many of whom were members of a messianic faction of the Chabad movement, heard speeches calling on their followers to stop the "deportation" of Jews from their homes.

ADL's Israel Office issued the following statement:

As the Gaza disengagement plan gets closer to being implemented, ADL urges those protesting against the plan to bear in mind that evoking Nazi imagery is offensive, demeaning to victims of the Holocaust and is a perversion of history.  For Jews to use such terminology when speaking of other Jews is perhaps the embodiment of perversion.  Furthermore, likening the Holocaust to this political process, no matter how painful, has the effect of fueling Holocaust denial outside of Israel by delegitimizing the unprecedented horror of the Shoah. 

Utilizing the language of the Holocaust is inciteful and can serve to legitimize violence against Israeli citizens who are working to make the disengagement possible either politically or practically by those who disagree with the policies of the government.  We welcome the investigation launched by the Israeli National Police, which will probe possible incitement violations by the speakers at the Jerusalem event.

Control of the Temple Mount Means Control of the Country

This sentence by Uri Zvi Greenberg has never been shown to be more correct than now. In the face of Arabs threats the Israeli Police rushes to close the Temple Mount to visits by Jews, and we can see how loss of control over the Temple Mount and the danger of loss of control of other parts of the homeland are intertwined. We shall all join the numerous faithful Jews who next Sunday, Rosh Hodesh Nisan, will come to the foot of the Mount with a demand to restore Israeli sovereignty over the holy place and permit Jews to pray on the Mount.

What's the plan?

We've called for a massive ascent of Jews to the Temple Mount on Rosh Chodesh Nisan 5765 (Sunday April 10, 2005) and made great efforts to coordinate this event with the Israeli authorities. We've negotiated with the police to allow groups of Jews to ascend the Temple Mount during the whole day, not just during the few hours it is normally open to Jews.

According to the plan each group is to be led by Rabbis and specially trained guides who are knowledgeable about all halachic matters involving Jewish visits to the Temple Mount. Unfortunately, at this point the police have informed us that they intend on preventing the ascent of thousands of Jews on this day. We call upon everyone to come out between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. to the foot of the Temple Mount near the Mughrabim Gate (the Rambam Gate) to make our demand for freedom of religion known.

In contrast to the mistaken information that's been published in the media, we have no intent of being dragged into any violent confrontation with the police, nor to cause any disquiet. I personally ask everyone who comes out to make a true effort to avoid any friction with the authorities. We're secure in our belief that the act of a mass gathering demanding the Temple Mount be opened to Jewish worship will influence the decision makers and bring us closer to restoring our basic right of access to our most holy place.

Thousands of Israeli police have surrounded the Temple Mount in Jerusalem amid fears that Jewish extremists plan to storm the site.

The operation follows reports that extremists hope to thwart Israel's withdrawal from Gaza by inflaming tensions with Palestinians.

Palestinian militants say they will end a truce if Jewish protesters enter the al-Aqsa mosque built on Temple Mount.

The Temple Mount is known as the Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) to Muslims.

Last month, Israel's Channel Two TV station showed a video that it said showed plotters, including rabbis and far-right extremists, discussing ways to occupy the site, which is holy in both Judaism and Islam.

The meeting of representatives from 30 different groups took place at a secret location in Jerusalem's Old City, the TV station said.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei appealed to Israel to stop any action against the compound, saying it would cause the region to "explode".

Large numbers of Israeli police were deployed around the Temple Mount compound in mid-February for fear of an attack by Jewish extremists.

Significance

Opponents of the Gaza withdrawal plan have been protesting in a number of ways, including blocking traffic on major roads causing massive jams.

Israel is due to withdraw all settlers and the troops that protect them from Gaza in July this year. Israel has occupied Gaza since 1967, and will retain control of the strip's external borders, airspace and coastline.

The Temple Mount compound, in the old city in East Jerusalem, covers an area of 35 acres.

The site is holy to Jews because it is the site of the First and Second Temple in ancient times. It is known in Jewish tradition as the "abode of God's presence".

It is also of deep religious, political and national significance to Palestinians and to Muslims around the world

We have asked the government of Israel to grant us permission to hold the Sacrifice on the Temple Mount this year. In our request to the Prime Minister, we wrote that the Passover Sacrifice has a very special significance in the life and history of Israel in both the religious and national spheres. This sacrifice has a deep meaning as a memorial of the biggest redemption of Israel and the Exodus from Egypt. The G-d of Israel commanded all the people of Israel to perform this sacrifice on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This is one of the most important godly commandments. This sacrifice is a personal and family sacrifice which was made by the Israeli people in the Tabernacle and in the First and Second Temples. Even after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 C.E. The Israelis tried to continue to perform the sacrifice. Jews even came from the exile to do it, so important was it for them. This sacrifice can be performed even before the Temple is built, just on an altar on the Temple Mount.

Israel is now in the midst of her third redemption - the biggest of all of them. The G-d of Israel returned Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to us through major miracles. Now He expects us to renew this sacrifice immediately, even before the Temple is rebuilt. 

Jer:7:22: For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

Hosea 4:

12: My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
13: They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
14: I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
15: Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.
16: For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
17: Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
18: Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
19: The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

Our tradition teaches us that once the sacrifice is reintroduced the redemption of Israel will be accomplished, the Third Temple will be built and Mashiach ben David will come.

This was and is the dream and desire of all the generations of Israel since the destruction of the Second Temple as well as so many people all over the world. We are not allowed to disappoint the G-d of Israel and all those generations. We are not allowed to neglect what G-d commanded us to do especially at this time of redemption in Israel.

NOW, remember Arik Sheinerman, Ariel Sharon, the king of the south, Judah, Aholibah, is in Washington DC, at one table, deceiving each other, with Dan Bush the king of the North, Aholah of the hasidic Pharisees who control Sanhedrin.

We want the government of Israel to fulfill the expectations of the G-d of Israel and the Israeli people with no fear of what the enemies of Israel and other powers will do to try to prevent it. The G-d of Israel will not allow  them to touch Israel, especially when Israel is doing His will. Only He controls the destiny of Israel and He is determined to accomplish His prophetic plans with the people and land of Israel.

Do not be deceived, the Prophecy is God's Children to be collected to His Holy Mountain, Sion in His Kingdom unto his Holy City New Jerusalem, these are the seed of Abraham, by faith in Jesus the Christ, heirs to his Kingdom, which has nothing to do with wretched flesh and whoredoms

 The day when the Passover sacrifice is performed will be a big day in the eyes of G-d and in the life of the people and land of Israel and many people all over the world.

Sorry, the Lamb of Passover was sacrificed ONCE and For All sealed at Calvary, there is no REDEMPTION with out that Lamb, Jesus the Christ the LORD

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement is determined to hold this sacrifice whether or not the government grants their permission. If permission is not granted to enter the Temple Mount, then the sacrifice will be performed in the City of David before the Southern gates of the Temple Mount, the main gates used by the Israelites to enter the Temple Mount during the time of the First and Second Temples.

 Even though the Passover Sacrifice has to be performed on the Temple Mount, we shall sacrifice it in the City of David as a symbolic act and as a first step for the fulfillment of this important commandment. It will also be a message to the Israeli government and to the people of Israel that we are living at a time of godly redemption and we are not allowed to disappoint G-d and history through spiritual and political weakness. We have to trust in G-d's promises and not fear His enemies. By this act we want to open the gate to a new godly era in the life of Israel and all the nations exactly as we did when we attempted to lay the cornerstone on the Temple Mount.

Jesus the Christ is the Cornerstone the builders rejected. Jesus the Christ is the Temple they tore down and he raised in three days. Jesus the Christ the Temple therein the Kingdom of the Father, he has inherited since the foundation of the world, sealed at Calvary, and He alone is the Lamb worthy to open the book of Life.

The City of David has a special and deep significance in the life of the land of Israel. King David was the greatest king of Israel who liberated Jerusalem, bought the Temple Mount, built an altar to the honor of the G-d of Israel on this Hill and prepared it for the building of the First Temple by his son, King Solomon.

This is the reason why we decided to hold this sacrifice in this holy place. It will be done without an altar but exactly according to all the details of G-d's commandment for the Passover Sacrifice.

A false sacrifice of an animal, unto a false god who is no GOD the Father in Heaven, an abominable sacrifice unto the Dragon and his false king the son of perdition, Moshaich ben Satan 

 It is only on the Temple mount that sacrifice can be performed on an altar. We hope that the Israeli government will at least grant us the permission to perform the sacrifice in this place. If not, we shall perform it on a hill close to the Temple Mount and the City of David from where the Temple Mount and site of the Holy of Holies can be clearly seen.

We are determined to perform the sacrifice this year and we pray and act that it will be performed on the Temple Mount. This unique and exciting sacrifice has to be performed according to the commandments of the G-d of Israel on the day before the first day of Passover. It must be done from midday until midnight. It has to be eaten in a special family Seder in Jerusalem. This is the night when the G-d of Israel punished the Egyptians with the tenth plague, killing the firstborn sons of the Egyptians and passing over the homes of the children of Israel. On the same night G-d took the Israelites from Egypt out of slavery to freedom. G-d commanded us to remember this forever and to know that He is the eternal Savior and Father of Israel.

April 10th will be an exciting day in the life of Israel and of all of us.

 The purpose of the Mikdash [Temple] is to provide G-d with a place to dwell in this world, a House to which offerings may be brought.

The Lord God Most high needs no dwelling place, for his is all of creation, and his Mountain Sion, and these deceive mankind in their Blasphemy and murders upon mankind

Isa:57:15: For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Jer:8:16: The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.

Men and women must help to build the Temple. It is a mitzvah to build it as beautifully as possible. If money is available, one should even cover the whole structure with gold! However, children may not be taken away from learning Torah, even for the sake of building the Temple. We do not build the Temple on Shabbat or on Yom Tov.

A person is meant to go to the Temple three times a year, to celebrate the Festivals of Pesach, Shavuot, and Succot.

Israel was not Jewry. Judah and benjamin was Jewry. Jewry does not represent ISRAEL. Israel believed the WORD of God

Nearly 400 years later, King David, designed a permanent Temple for G-d in Jerusalem. It was built by his son, King Solomon. This was the first Holy Temple. It stood in the holy city of Jerusalem for 410 years. The first Temple was destroyed by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, who cast the Jews into exile.

The First Temple was destroyed by God the Father for the abominations of the Jews and the Sanhedrin

After 70 years in Exile, the Jews were at last able to return to Eretz Yisrael, under the leadership of Ezra the Scribe. He supervised the construction of the Second Temple. This occurred soon after the story of Purim took place. The Second Temple was larger than the First, and stood for 420 years. It was destroyed by the Roman armies led by Titus.

The second Temple was destroyed by God the Father for the abomination the seventy ancients of the House of Israel did therein, and their Crucifixion of his Only Begotten Son and their house is left desolate until they say, Blessed is he who comes in the Name of the LORD

The Third Temple will be rebuilt on the same spot that the first two Temples stood, when Moshiach comes, may it be very soon!

On the Temple Mount itself, however, no iron tools could be used. Even to hear the sound of an iron tool was forbidden, because iron (as used for weapons) shortens the life of man, and the Temple is meant to prolong it.

The Temple Mount is called Mount Moriah. The word moriah is from the word yirah, meaning "fear" and "awe." When the Temple was standing, the world was filled with fear and awe of G-d. The word moriah is also from the root ho-r'ah, which means "teaching." This is because the highest court in all Israel, the Sanhedrin, used to sit in the Temple, so that teaching and instruction would go out from there to all the Jewish people.

The room in which the Sanhedrin would meet was called the Chamber of Hewed Stone. It was called by this name because the chairs for the judges were carved out of solid stone.

Mt:24:26: Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

The wisest and most righteous judges in Israel used to meet there, right by the Temple, so that when they were deciding the most difficult problems of the Jewish nation they would always think of G-d, and explain His Torah correctly.

Mt:27:2: And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Mt:27:18: For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

Mt:27:26: Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

When Moshiach comes - may we merit this speedily - and the Temple will be rebuilt, the great Sanhedrin will once again meet in the Chamber of Hewed Stones in the Temple. At that time, peace will reign, and the city of Jerusalem will expand to include all of the Land of Israel!

Jn:5:43: I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

Mt:26:61: And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

Rv:21:22: And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

How do we revere the Temple? We are not to enter the Temple Mount holding a staff, or with sandals on our feet, or dressed in informal clothes, or with dust on our feet, or money in our hands. Needless to say, we should not spit.

A person should not take a shortcut through the Temple Mount, entering on one side and going out the other, just to make the way shorter. Rather one should walk around the outside, and enter only for the sake of a mitzvah.

When leaving the Temple, a person should not turn around and walk away. He should go backwards slowly, and then turn to his side until he is out of the courtyard.

A person should not act frivolously or joke around opposite the eastern gate of the Temple, for it is directly opposite the Holy of Holies.

Even though the Temple is now in ruins because of our sins, a person must hold it in awe and behave in a dignified manner at all times, just as when it was standing.

Every night, 24 guards would take up their positions around the Temple. The Kohanim (Temple priests) stood guard inside, and 21 Levites stood guard on the outside.

On top of the Great Altar three fires were kept burning: one was for the daily offerings, one to provide coals for burning the incense on the Golden Altar, and one just to fulfill the commandment of always having a fire burning on the Altar of G-d.

The kohanim (Temple priests) were not allowed to go up on the Altar by means of steps, nor was it permissible to build steps for the Altar. Only a ramp was allowed.

The Great Altar of the Temple was in a very precise place, which may never be changed. This place is so holy that even non-Jews recognize its holiness and have never worshipped idols on the spot.

The Great Altar was built on very holy ground. It is the same place where our forefather Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac (Yitzchok). Noah had made offerings to G-d there after the flood. Even Adam had made his offering to G-d there. In fact, our Sages tell us it is the very same spot G-d had taken the earth with which He created man Adam, the first human being.

The Altar of our Third Temple will also be built exactly in this same place.

Large amounts of wood were used for the fire on the Great Altar.

Kohanim who could not serve in the Temple, either because of age or some other reason, would check all the wood for worms before it went to the outer Altar. They did this in a chamber called the Wood Room.

The Kiyor, originally had only two taps [faucets], but later it was redesigned by one of the High Priests called Ben Katin, to have twelve taps. This enabled all the twelve priests who participated in the daily offering to wash their hands and feet at once, before they began the Temple service.

In the inner Holy Chamber, there are three vessels:

Mt:27:24: When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

Rv:7:14: And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

There were also 9 flowers and 11 egg-shaped bulbs decorating the menorah. The flowers were a symbol of the world's potential for growth and development. The bulbs were a symbol of limitless spiritual pleasure.

The menorah was lit by the Kohen Gadol, the High Priest, every day toward evening.

All the flames in the menorah faced the central lamp. This lamp was called the nair ma'aravi--the western lamp--because it faced the Holy of Holies. This lamp was the first one kindled every day toward evening, and it would burn miraculously long after the others had burned out, until it was time to rekindle the menorah the next day. This was a sign to the entire world that G-d dwelt with the Jewish people.

In it stood the Aron [ark], in which the Tablets with the Ten Commandments were kept. This box was square, just as the tablets were square and made of wood, with a layer of gold inside and a layer of gold outside. There were really three boxes, one within the other.

The cover of the Ark - the Kapo'res - was solid gold more than 6" thick.

On top of the Kapo'res were two golden figures, a boy and a girl. Like soldiers they stood guard over the Torah. G-d spoke to Moshe through their wings.

Our Sages tell is that when G-d was pleased with the Jewish people, these figures would face towards each other with love.

Rv:11:19: And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Beside the Ark was the legendary staff of Moshe's brother, Aaron, the first high priest, which once miraculously sprouted almond blossoms overnight, and a flask containing manna, a memorial from the time of Moshe and from the time the Jews were in the wilderness. This was to remind Jews how G-d sustained our ancestors for forty years in the desert, and how surely, He can sustain us now and at all times!

Rv:2:27: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

No one was ever allowed into this Holiest Chamber except the Kohen Gadol - the Hight Priest - and he could only enter once a year, on Yom Kippur - the holiest day of the Jewish Year, to pray for the welfare of the Jewish people.

To clean the Holy of Holies, men were lowered from above in special baskets. The baskets faced the wall, so that the men could do their job without looking into the room itself.

When King Solomon built the Temple, he knew that it would ultimately be destroyed. He built secret underground rooms in which to hide The Ark with the Ten Commandments, as well as Aaron's staff, the small vessel with manna, and the oil for anointing.

Before the First Temple was destroyed, King Yeshayahu commanded that the Ark be placed in these secret passageways. He also hid the staff of Aaron, the bottle of manna, and the oil for anointing.

None of these things were found again, not even in the time of the Second Temple, but they will all be returned in the time of Moshiach, when the Third Temple will be rebuilt, may it be speedily NOW.

Rv:15:4: Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

Rv:4:8: And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Sanhedrin Rabbis Discuss Sublime, Procedural Issues

The 71 rabbis seeking to fulfill the Biblical commandment of renewing the Sanhedrin continue to meet regularly, solidifying their organizational structure and establishing an agenda of topics.

Their most recent meeting was this week, in which they discussed technical and procedural issues, topics for their agenda, and the Halakhic [Jewish legal] and other ramifications of renewing the Passover sacrifice.

The rabbis held a festive ceremony this past October 13th, the 28th day of the Jewish month of Tishrei, inaugurating the Sanhedrin as Judaism's supreme legal body. They stress that by doing so, they are merely fulfilling a Biblical mitzvah (obligation).

“It is a special mitzvah , based on our presence in Israel, to establish a Sanhedrin,” Rabbi Meir HaLevi, one of the 71 members of the new Sanhedrin, has explained. “The Rambam [12th-century Torah scholar Maimonides] describes the process exactly in the Mishnah Torah (Talmud Bavli, doctrines of men)  [his seminal work codifying Jewish Law]. When he wrote it, there was no Sanhedrin, and he therefore outlines the steps necessary to establish one."

A religious-legal assembly of 71 Sages that convened in the Holy Temple and for several centuries after its destruction, the Sanhedrin was the highest Jewish judicial tribunal in the Land of Israel. Organizers of the current edition stress that they are still in a transitional phase, and that though today's members are all Torah scholars and experts in many secular and scientific fields, every one of them has agreed to step aside the moment a more deserving candidate should step forward.

Meeting in Jerusalem’s Old City, the Sanhedrin consists of representatives of all stripes of religious Jewish society. Hareidi-religious, Hassidic, national-religious, Ashkenazi, Sephardic, modern Orthodox and university professors sit side by side in a semi-circle, seeking to re-establish Jewish legal tradition after 2,000 years of exile.

"We can make a real difference," said one member, Rabbi Chaim Richman of Jerusalem. "Many cardinal issues are on the public agenda, and our body – which is totally based on Torah, (Talmud)  even down to its rules and regulations – is naturally geared to deal with them. Issues such as agunot (estranged women whose husbands refuse to give them a divorce), abortions, traffic safety, economic issues, education, and so much more."

"Not only are we commanded to establish the Sanhedrin," Rabbi Richman told Arutz-7's Yosef Meiri, "but this seems to be the perfect time to do so - a time of Divine will. On the one hand, there is a spiritual void in the 'establishment,' and on the other hand, there is a real thirst among the public for spirituality and guidance."

Iniquity abounds

The Sanhedrin's takanon, document of regulations, is still undergoing final adjustments prior to its official adoption. A permanent Nassi, President, and Av Beit HaDin, literally, Court Father, still must be elected. The continuing role of the Vaad HaMechonen , the founding committee that has led the Sanhedrin thus far, also needs to be determined. But the Sanhedrin is carefully moving ahead, strictly adhering to the guidelines set out by Maimonides, who classified the obligation to reestablish the Sanhedrin as one that is incumbent upon every generation.

“The Sanhedrin is past its greatest initial hurdles,” a spokesman told IsraelNN's Ezra HaLevi, “namely, the return of genuine semikha [authentic rabbinical ordination] to Israel, and the historic meeting in Tiberias in Tishrei, at which 71 rabbis actually convened and officially reinstated the Sanhedrin. We believe these achievements are irreversible.”

Contrary to the expected criticism, Sanhedrin organizers insist that the reinstatement ceremony was neither just a show nor a one-time phenomenon, but is rather Halakhically-sound and a true beginning.

The rabbis were asked to prepare topics they thought the Sanhedrin should deal with, and a fascinating array of topics was produced. In addition to those mentioned above by Rabbi Richman, the list included such issues as: * uniform kashrut certification * the precise length of the biblical cubit (with ramifications on many issues, including the location of the altar on the Temple Mount) * unemployment * assisting Anousim from Spain and Portugal and others whose ancestors were forced to convert * lost Jewish tribes from other parts of the world * unifying Sephardic and Ashkenazi practices on issues such as prayer liturgy, kitniyot (legumes) on Passover, and glass utensils * the Sanhedrin's decision-making procedures * foreign workers * unifying the religious parties * restoring the Davidic monarchy * an ethical code for Israel's army (as opposed to the present one, which is based largely on secular sources) * the establishment of regional "small Sanhedrins" * the long-missing "t'chelet" blue color * sending delegations around the country to hear people's concerns, and much more.

Though a lecture on renewing the Paschal offering was delivered at the last meeting, not all of the 71 are yet convinced that the time is ripe for it. Various opinions were put forth, including by those opposed to the renewal of the Passover offering until the exact location of the Temple altar is determined through prophecy.

"The real achievement of the meeting was that rabbis from such diverse backgrounds could sit together to discuss such an issue," said Rabbi Michael S. Bar-Ron, an associate of the Sanhedrin from Beit Shemesh. " It demonstrated that the Sanhedrin is alive, and has begun the long road towards its chief goal of restoring the crown of Torah to its former glory."

As expected, the issue of the disengagement came up, but the acting Nassi refused to allow the discussion until at least one rabbi supporting the plan could be found to present a sincere argument supporting it. No one could be found, and the topic was dropped.

"The Sanhedrin aims to inspire the Jewish people," Rabbi Richman said, "not coerce them. Via 'ways of pleasantness,' we will achieve a renewal of unified Jewish observance and practice."

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in an interview broadcast by NBC News on Monday, spoke of the growing threat of violence by extreme-right Jewish activists in Israel ahead of the disengagement plan.

ould this little calf born last month in Israel bring about Armageddon? The concept would have struck many people as absurd the last time such a calf was born, in 1997, and probably makes most readers laugh today. Big mistake: Never underestimate the power of religious faith to shape events, especially in the Holy Land. Especially right now.

Our eschatological heifer story begins on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, where tens of millions of Jews, Muslims, and Christians believe the central events of each tradition's Last Days will play out. The site, the Biblical Mount Moriah, was the site of the Hebrews' First Temple, destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC, and the Second Temple, which the Romans leveled in 70 AD. Muslims, believing the site to be the place from which the Prophet Mohammed ascended into Heaven atop a steed, began in 685 to build the Noble Sanctuary, a 35-acre site in Jerusalem's walled Old City, containing the Dome of the Rock shrine and the al Aqsa mosque.

To Jews who adhere to ancient tradition, whose number include religious Israeli nationalists, the long-awaited Messiah (Moshiach ben Satan) will return to become the king of Israel and high priest of a rebuilt Temple, which can only be on Temple Mount. 

For Christian fundamentalists, Jesus Christ's return at the height of the battle of Armageddon, in which forces of the Antichrist clash in Israel with a 200 million-man army from the East, will require a Third Temple from which the Lord will begin a millennial reign.

"What happens at that one spot, more than anywhere else, quickens expectations of the End in three religions. What if the 'Rapture' happened but you were left behind? That's what millions of Christians are wondering amid mounting evidence that the Rapture, the much-anticipated event in which God summons his faithful to the heavens, may have happened earlier this month. Among the startled 'still here': House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, just one of the political leaders who had expected to be making the trek skyward.

From Capitol Hill to Kansas, finger pointing and questioning: 'why are we still here?'

WASHINGTON, DC--When House Majority Leader Tom DeLay delivered a moving speech from the halls of Congress last week, in which he argued that his political enemies are persecuting him because of his religious faith, there was just one problem: he wasn't supposed to be there. Earlier this month, say observers, the 'Rapture,' the much-anticipated event in which God summons his faithful to the heavens, finally happened.

But instead of Mr. DeLay and millions of other believers making the skyward trek, the biblical bash appears to have been an exclusive, invitation-only affair. As of today, fewer than three dozen Christians are confirmed to have been 'raptured,' leaving their rejected brethren to deal with seven years of Tribulation, a turbulent period marked by the return of the anti-Christ.

For those who had hoped to be cashing in on their heavenly rewards, these are days of soul searching and regret. From Capitol Hill to the mega-churches of the south, disappointed travelers are asking the same questions: 'Why not me?' 'What did I do wrong?' and 'Was it something I said?'

The lucky few David Dumé, originally of Spring Hill, KS, appears to be among the lucky few who are currently enjoying the company of the world's most famous father. Mr. Dumé, who had recently returned to Kansas from Hollywood, where he enjoyed a short but lucrative career in adult-themed films, was expected to attend a potluck supper and informal prayer session at the Spring Hill Baptist Church—but disappeared from site just minutes after reaching the building.

Stunned onlookers say that they watched aghast as Mr. Dumé "flew up through the ceiling," leaving a pile of clothing, gold jewelry, an outsized diamond-covered crucifix, and several piercings and chains behind. Experts say that the fact that Mr. Dumé and others cast off such earthly accoutrements is another sure sign that they were indeed raptured.

And the not-so-lucky The pastor of the church, Roy DeLong, who is also an active supporter of conservative political causes including a constitutional ban on gay marriage and private Social Security accounts, says that he is personally shocked that Mr. Dumé was chosen to make the trip, while he and so many other more faithful believers remain behind. "He was not even a regular presence around here, that's what's so startling. I don't want to say that mistakes were made, but you really have to wonder about the selection process here," says Pastor DeLong.

DeLong, who also heads up the Baptist Leadership Council, will join other prominent Christian leaders, including the Reverends Tim Lahaye, James Dobson and Franklin Graham, for an emergency meeting later this week. "At this point, we're concluding that this was probably a practice round before the real deal," says Pastor DeLong. "That's the only way this makes any sense. He left behind all of the wrong people. Why would He do that?"

The right—left behind Meanwhile, no one appears to have made the trip upwards from Capitol Hill. Beltway observers had speculated that dozens of high-profile leaders, including President Bush and Representative DeLay, would be raptured, possibly setting off a complex battle over succession within the halls of power.

So certain were these men that their earthly tenure was coming to an end, say sources, that they scheduled a lengthy break over the Easter weekend. While Stewart Roy, a spokesman for Mr. DeLay, refused to acknowledge that the House Majority Leader has indeed been left behind, he did confirm that the Texas representative is taking some much-needed time off. "Let's just say that there are some unexpected openings in his schedule. I'm not going to say anything more than that
