It is interesting to note that throughout the Bible leaders of nations are “kings”. Here the prophet titles the leader of Mogog as a “Nosi,”(Nasi-Nazi) which is best translated as an elected president. The prophet knew that we would be dealing with a democratic country and an elected leader.

The prophet calls Gog the president of Mogog, and also the leader Meshekh and Tuval. Many suggestions have been offered as to the exact identity of these two countries. I suggest that Meshekh and Tuval be translated literally. Meshekh means “to pull” or “draw” and Tuval means “the world.” The leader of Mogog is also the World leader, the one who pulls and draws the entire world to the direction he chooses.

A careful reading of the prophetic texts clearly indicates that “Gog” is not a bad person and really does not wish to harm the Jewish people. G-d must actually entice him and force him to fulfill his cosmic role in the process which will lead to the ultimate revelation of the Messiah.

G-d’s First Message to Gog

While the world held its breath in uncertain anticipation for the outcome of this “too close to predict” elections, and ─

I was quite certain you would win, as I explained to you in the previous segment. In fact, I sent out my prediction (a condensed version in the previous segment of this letter) to the thousands of subscribers to my website gogumogog.com. How did I know?

In addition to what I have said earlier, there are more reasons as well.

Rabbi Shlomo Ben Yitzchok (France, 1040-1103) was one of the greatest Jewish scholars in the past 1000 years. He is known as Rashi. He wrote the most popular and authoritative commentary on the Bible. He begins his commentary with a powerful question:

 What is shaking the world to its foundations might better be referred to as a "Clash of Civilizations," but we should understand just what those civilizations are, what they stand for, and how it is determined whether one is, in President Bush's words, "with us or against us."

There are those who would describe this as a battle of Democracy versus demagoguery, freedom versus oppression, free-market versus feudalism. The other side describes it as a battle against the global purveyors of immorality and G-dlessness: between believers and infidel non-believers. Among those nations that support terrorism, the conviction of the rightness of their cause is firm and unshakeable. No matter how horrific the acts of terrorism become, no sense of moral stock-taking seems to occur. In the West, by contrast, self-doubt reigns and a tense inner struggle is occurring; but this inner struggle is no less important than the larger external struggle.

The culture of the West has two distinct roots: on the one hand, it is deeply rooted in Pagan indulgence and self-gratification; on the other hand it is connected to the Torah of Israel and its clear definitions of right and wrong and its call to pursue Justice.

The current conflict is bringing these divergent roots to the fore, each one struggling to establish its primacy and to rid itself of the burden of other. The illusion of a marriage between them is disappearing, and within the West each individual is finding that he is being forced to choose whether he is "with us or against us." Increasingly, we are coming to realize that the grey area, the fence sitting, the trying to have it both ways, is no longer a viable option.

One of the characteristics of the Torah of Israel is the identification of distinctions and the maintaining of separation between them: pure and impure, kosher and non-kosher, the Shabbat and the weekday. Attempts to integrate that which must be kept distinct, the Torah warns, will be disastrous. Justice and righteousness are by definition intolerant of injustice and unrighteousness.

The arguments put forth by the Pagan view are quite different. In fact they seem less arguments than rationalizations of inaction: we must "understand" Arab rage, based as it surely is on Israeli oppression and American insensitivity; the terrorist culture is really no different than ours, and if we could only turn them into happy consumers, they would abandon their destructive ways; launching a war against terrorism would be too expensive, and it would threaten Middle East stability and the U.S. economy. They all amount to the same thing: denying any moral imperative to confront Evil so as to allow us to continue to pursue happiness as we see fit.

Perhaps because the shedding of these illusions and self-deceptions, difficult and painful as it may be for many of us, will finally bring us the ability to see with the clarity the Torah requires, and will allow all of us to walk out of Exile together, bringing the entire world to the repair that it so badly needs.

Israel is not getting out its political message to millions of Christian supporters around the world who have a skewed view of the conflict with the Palestinians, Christian leaders who are attending the Jerusalem Summit said Tuesday in a meeting with the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus.

Dr. Miles Munroe, the head of the Bahamas-based International Third World Leaders' Association, said Israeli spokesmen should be better at exploiting Christian broadcasting stations to get their message to the hundreds of millions of Christians worldwide who are pro-Israel. 

He said Israel should also be sending emissaries (Smuchim pharisees)  to Christian conventions such as those his group holds. "Christians are not getting a correct perspective on Israel," he said, explaining that they have to rely on "biased Western media."

Munroe, who said he has a constituency of millions in Latin and Central America, said Israel should be aiming to attract more Christian tourism and make "Jerusalem their pilgrimage in the same way Moslems go to Mecca."

Kenneth Meshoe, president of South Africa's Christian Democratic Party, said Israel's voice in response to Arab propaganda is "not being heard." He said Israel must portray its story "more aggressively." In South Africa, he said, blacks are told that Israel is an apartheid state.

He said his party is the only one in his country that "unabashedly fights and defends" Israel's right to exist as a state.
Meshoe concluded that all-out efforts must be made to mobilize Christians to come to Israel.

"What we're seeing is not a flirtation [between the two camps] but rather a serious love affair," said Congressman Bob Beauprez of Colorado.
