Here is a prime example of how they are proselytizing their twice the children of hell, undermining Salvation by Grace, Given Freely By the Father in Heaven, to return under bondage under the yoke of the Law.

I am also a Christian, but from a former sabbatarian background, studying what ethical standards are required of Gentile Christians. I am new to this Noachide study myself. It has been a revelation to me that the old covenant Ten Commandments is not for Gentile Christians and should not be taught to Gentiles as a law they should observe or nail on the walls of their homes, churches or court houses. As a child I was raised Lutheran and had to memorize the Ten Commandments with Luther's meanings. Then when I got to late adolescence, a sabbatarian (writings of Helen White) came along and said that if I want to really obey the fourth commandment (third in Lutheran/Catholic reckoning), I needed to keep the Sabbath on Saturday. Since I was taught as a child we have to keep the ten commandments, I was persuaded that in order to serve G_d rightly I needed to keep the Sabbath on Saturday. If Lutherans had taught me correctly as a child that the Ten Commandments are not the ethical standards for Gentiles, I would have been able to discern the fallacy of the sabbatarian's argument. What still puzzles me about Lutheranism and many other Protestants that tell their people to keep the Ten Commandments, how do you line up this emphasis on commandment keeping with Paul's writings in Romans? These church folk have to do all kinds of theological somersaults. I have come to believe that the covenant that is the ethical standard (not a law for salvation) for Gentile Christians is not the laws of Israel, but the ethical standard given to the Father of all Nations-- Noah. This covenant would make plain to us which ethical standards are G_d's intent for non-Israelite folks. Christians would not so confused today as they are about capital punishment, whether we need Sabbaths, clean and unclean meats (every thing that moves shall be food for you), etc.

Jesus and the redactors of the N. T. seem to have been aware of the need in the New Covenant to return to the ethical standards of Noah rather than the covenant of Israel for the masses of Gentiles that were coming into the church. Notice the laws that Jesus enumerates in Matthew 19:18-19 and the requirements that James lays out for the Gentiles after the conference in Jerusalem in Acts 15:20. Notice the whole N. T. says not a word about the Sabbath observance for Christians (Hebrews 4:9 has its own issues that can only be resolved in context). Paul never brings up Sabbath breaking in any one of his vice codes. Sabbath or Sunday is never legislated in the N. T. as a day that must be kept holy.

It would be interesting to study church history and see when the Ten Commandments crept back into the ethical moorings of the church. I, for one, say it has no place in Christian teachings to G_d's people today (other than maybe for historical interest). I believe that it has only brought confusion to Gentile ethics and about law keeping for salvation.

Is The Bible Hate Literature?

OTTAWA (Reuters) - An attempt to broaden Canada's hate-crimes laws to include protection for homosexuals has sparked a fierce debate in Parliament over whether the Bible and the Koran could be branded as hate literature.

It centres on a bill from gay Member of Parliament Svend Robinson that would make it a crime, punishable by up to two years in prison, to incite or promote hatred against homosexuals.

But his attempt to end gay-bashing has brought warnings that pastors or imams could be thrown into jail for preaching homosexuality is evil and that their scriptures could be banned or confiscated.

Robinson, a member of the minority New Democratic Party, dismissed the fears as unfounded.

"There's not an attorney general in the country anywhere at any level who would consent to the prosecution of an individual for quoting from the Bible," he told a House of Commons committee examining the bill.

"An attorney general who tried something like that would be run out of town on a rail."

Opponents of the bill point to the Owens court case in Saskatchewan five months ago involving the right to quote the Bible in an newspaper ad against homosexuality. The judge ruled that a Biblical passage in Leviticus "exposes homosexuals to hatred."

Even though the Owens case dealt with human rights legislation, critics said that sort of ruling could just as easily be applied in a hate-crimes case under the criminal code.

"I'm concerned about the chilling effect of this kind of decision," said Vic Toews of the official opposition in Parliament, the Canadian Alliance.

The gay-rights lobby group Egale suggested the courts would eventually insist on including sexual orientation in the current hate-crimes legislation, which prohibits hatred on the basis of colour, race, religion or ethnic origin.

"I would suggest to this committee that the legislation as it stands, by being under-inclusive, by failing to protect a group equally needing protection, is unconstitutional," Egale's John Fisher said this week.

He said gays were more likely to be attacked than heterosexuals.

Pat O'Brien, a legislator from the governing Liberal Party, recalled an incident in which Robinson himself had confronted a Roman Catholic priest on Parliament Hill who was protesting homosexuality, and Robinson threw one of his signs over the embankment he was standing on.

"I have concerns whether somebody like that is going to be able to carry out his freedom of expression," O'Brien said.

Because Robinson's bill has prompted an avalanche of e-mails and letters to members of Parliament, it has become hot potato that the Liberals appear unsure how to handle.

Liberal Justice Minister Martin Cauchon told the House of Commons on Thursday he supported the bill. But socially conservative members of the Liberal Party were put on the committee on Wednesday when a motion was made to shelve it.

Robinson successfully delayed that motion, and both sides are now looking to a final committee battle on May 26 or 27 that is likely to determine whether the bill will die or proceed to broader consideration by Parliament.

In order to understand the Jerusalem Council, one must take into account the
existence of the Noahide Laws, which formed a kind of Torah for Gentiles, by
which they could be counted as belonging to God.  These laws do not include
any requirement for circumcision, which was required only for Gentiles who
wished to become converted to full Jews.  Various versions of the Noahide
Laws exist in the sources but none of them includes circumcision.
    The question before the Jerusalem Council was whether Gentiles could
belong to the Jesus movement without becoming full Jews, but merely by
becoming 'God-fearers', i.e. Noahides (benei Noach).  This was a difficult
question, since the Messiah was regarded as the King of the Jews, and it was
doubtful whether non-Jews could come under his jurisdiction.  In other
words, could Noahides belong to a Messianic movement, thus becoming subjects
to a Jewish king,  or must they retain their own nationality under their own
rulers?
    The decision of James was to admit Noahides, or 'God-fearers' into the
Messianic movement of Jesus merely on the basis of their adherence of the
Noahide Laws (a version of these laws is actually given in the narrative of
the Council).  This meant that they could become Jesus-followers without
undergoing circumcision.  So fear of circumcision as a dangerous operation
is really irrelevant to this topic.
    James did not change his mind about this decision at all.  What he did
do was to send out emissaries to continue to try to persuade Gentiles to
become full Jews by circumcision, which would give them higher  status in
the coming Messianic kingdom.  The Jews are 'a nation of priests' whereas
the God-fearers (Noahides) are the laity. This was not a breach of the
decision of the Jerusalem Council, which was simply to allow Gentiles a
choice in the matter.  James had given  no undertaking to cease
proselytising activities, but had undertaken to accept uncircumcised
Noahides as well as circumcised converts to full Judaism.
    Paul. on the the other hand, had a different view which he concealed at
the Jerusalem Council.  This was that the Jewish Torah had been abrogated,
and therefore the distinction between Jews and Noahides was no longer valid.
He therefore took the view that he had a monopoly on the conversion of
Gentiles and that Jamesian missionaries were trespassing on his territory.
He was therefore furious with the Jamesian missionaries whom he regarded as
competitors for converts, though this was not their intention at all.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A limestone burial box, almost 2,000 years old, may provide the oldest archeological record of Jesus of Nazareth, experts announced Monday.

The ossuary, as the bone boxes are known, dates to A.D. 63 and has an inscription in Aramaic which translates to: "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus," said Andre Lemaire, an expert in ancient writing who identified the box in Jerusalem last spring.

Aramaic, an ancient Semitic language, was the lingua franca of the Middle East for many centuries. At the time of Jesus' life, Aramaic was the common language of the Jews.

Writing about his findings in the new issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, Lemaire, who teaches at the Sorbonne in Paris, called it "very probable" that the box belonged to Jesus' brother James, who by Christian tradition was the leader of the early church in Jerusalem.

Some scholars expressed doubt that the box, which is 20 inches long by 11 inches wide, could be definitively linked to Jesus, a Jewish carpenter by trade revered by Christians as the son of God.

"We may never be absolutely certain. In the work I do we're rarely absolutely certain about anything," said Kyle McCarter, a Johns Hopkins University archaeologist, who said that the finding was probable, but that he had "a bit of doubt."

While most scholars agree that Jesus existed, no physical evidence from the first century has ever been conclusively tied with his life.

Two scientists from the Israeli government's geological survey tested the box last month, inspecting the surface patina and inscription under a microscope. They concurred that the object is more than 19 centuries old, the archaeology magazine reported.

"It's hard to avoid the conclusion that these three names refer to the personages so identified in the New Testament," said Hershel Shanks, editor of Biblical Archaeology Review.

Writing provides answers

Many of the conclusions reached by experts relied on the inscription written on the ossuary. The boxes commonly were used by Jewish families between 20 B.C. and A.D. 70 to store the bones of their loved ones.

Lemaire said out of hundreds of such boxes found with Aramaic writing only two contain mentions of a brother. From this, scholars infer that the brother was noted only when he was someone important.

James, Joseph and Jesus were common names in ancient Jerusalem, a city of about 40,000 residents. Lemaire estimates there could have been as many as 20 Jameses in the city with brothers named Jesus and fathers named Joseph.

But it is unlikely there would have been more than one James who had a brother of such importance that it merited having him mentioned on his ossuary, Lemaire said.

Lemaire found the box in June by accident, said Shanks, who was able to inspect the box personally.

'Didn't realize the significance'

The owner is reported to be a collector of ancient Jewish artifacts. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought the box some 15 years ago from an antique dealer for $200 to $700, Shanks said.

The boxes "are not popular on the market because ... people don't want a bone box in their living room," Shanks said.

The collector, who is Jewish, was not aware that Jesus had a brother. He discovered the interest in the object only when he met Lemaire at a dinner party last spring and asked him to decipher some Aramaic written on a number of collectibles, Shanks said.

The box owner "didn't realize the significance," Shanks said. "He threw up his hands, 'How could the Son of God have a brother?'"

Plans are under way to exhibit the box at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada, during the annual meeting of Bible scholars in November, Shanks said.

But he said whether the box belonged to Jesus' brother, it still provides a powerful link with the past.

"This is something that provides a bridge over time," he said. "My reaction is not so much excitement as it is awe

The'law' is a mistranslation of Torah. Torah means teachings or instructions. Law comes from the Greek word 'nomos' which translates to 'law.' Are the teachings and instructions of G-d valid for

NT believers? Yes! Those that can be followed. In the OT there are 613 defined 'laws.' In the NT there are over 1200 defined 'laws' based on the 613 OT ones. Though the Jerusalem Council of Acts fame laid only 4 requirements, which were based on the 7 Noahide laws, that was a minimum requirement for Gentiles only. I believe that the next verse in Acts after the laying down of the 4 Noahide requirements says to the Gentiles that in order to learn beyond the 4 Noahide laws they would have to go to the synagogues in order to hear the Torah expounded upon so they could learn more about this new faith they had entered into. Church history shows us that in the early life of the church that the fathers kept the 7th Day Sabbath, dietary laws, etc. This changed at the Council of Nicea in 325 BC or AD.
