GENEVA  High in the snowcapped Swiss Alps, protected by helicopter gunships and 2,000 troops, the leading representatives of capitalism begin a debate tomorrow on how to improve an ailing world.

 

    Often dubbed "the meeting of world masters," the annual event in the luxurious winter resort of Davos in eastern Switzerland this year has attracted close to 2,000 participants, including 29 heads of state or government, more than 80 ministers and a host of corporate giants and other pillars of private enterprise.

 

    The cost of attending the five-day talking shop is $10,000 a person ÷ in addition to the $14 million spent by the organizers.

 

    The World Economic Forum, as the event is known, is headed by 65-year-old German-born professor Klaus Schwab.

 

    Before the meeting, Mr. Schwab described terrorism as the greatest challenge facing society since the September 11 attacks in the United States.

 

    "Our guiding idea is that neither governments nor nongovernmental organizations can solve major problems alone," he said. "We merely prepare the ground. The rest is up to the participants."

 

    Those include U.S. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, Attorney General John Ashcroft, Presidents Vicente Fox of Mexico and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil, French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin, former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, Microsoft's Bill Gates, Coca-Cola's Douglas Draft and myriad others.

 

    To protect such a star-studded assembly, in addition to mobilizing 2,000 troops, the Swiss government has created a no-fly zone over Davos and ordered the army to shoot down any unauthorized aircraft.

 

   In Davos itself, hundreds of police officers are being deployed and the personal bodyguards of the participants have received permission to carry firearms and use them if necessary.

 

   This year's meeting, the 33rd, returns to Davos after last year's absence, when the conclave was held in New York ÷ then considered to be more secure.

 

    This year, Switzerland accepted the challenge of sufficiently protecting what is considered one of the world's most influential gatherings.

 

   As with such meetings in recent years, this one was denounced by opponents of globalization as well as opponents of war on Iraq.

 

   A strictly controlled demonstration was allowed by authorities in the heart of Davos on Saturday.

 

    Olther Bundnis, organizer of the protest, described the protective measures as "massively shrinking our freedom of movement" and an "attempt to criminalize our cause."

Abortion

Jewish law not only permits, but in some circumstances requires abortion. Where the mother's life is in jeopardy because of the unborn child, abortion is mandatory.

An unborn child has the status of "potential human life" until the majority of the body has emerged from the mother. Potential human life is valuable, and may not be terminated casually, but it does not have as much value as a life in existence. The Talmud makes no bones about this: it says quite bluntly that if the fetus threatens the life of the mother, you cut it up within her body and remove it limb by limb if necessary, because its life is not as valuable as hers. But once the greater part of the body has emerged, you cannot take its life to save the mother's, because you cannot choose between one human life and another.

Sex is the woman's right, not the man's. A man has a duty to give his wife sex regularly and to ensure that sex is pleasurable for her. He is also obligated to watch for signs that his wife wants sex, and to offer it to her without her asking for it. The woman's right to sexual intercourse is referred to as onah, and it is one of a wife's three basic rights (the others are food and clothing), which a husband may not reduce. The Talmud specifies both the quantity and quality of sex that a man must give his wife. It specifies the frequency of sexual obligation based on the husband's occupation, although this obligation can be modified in the ketubah (marriage contract). A man may not take a vow to abstain from sex for an extended period of time, and may not take a journey for an extended period of time, because that would deprive his wife of sexual relations. In addition, a husband's consistent refusal to engage in sexual relations is grounds for compelling a man to divorce his wife, even if the couple has already fulfilled the halakhic obligation to procreate.

Interestingly, female homosexual relations are not forbidden by the Torah. There is very little discussion of female homosexuality in the Talmud. The few sources that mention lesbian relations say that they do not disqualify a woman from certain privileges of the priesthood, because it is "merely licentiousness." There is a surprising lack of discussion of such issues as whether lesbianism would be grounds for divorcing a woman without her consent or without ketubah. Rambam asserted that lesbian practices are forbidden because it was a "practice of Egypt" and because it constituted rebelliousness.

Kabbalah is one of the most grossly misunderstood parts of Judaism. I have received several messages from non-Jews describing Kabbalah as "the dark side of Judaism." These misunderstandings stem largely from the fact that the teachings of Kabbalah have been so badly distorted by non-Jewish mystics and occultists. Kabbalah was popular among Christian intellectuals during the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods, who reinterpreted its doctrines to fit into their Christian dogma. For example, one such source (the Kabbalah Denudata, commonly available in new age bookstores) states that the Ten Sefirot (see below) have something to do with the Christian Trinity because they are sometimes divided up into groups of three, despite the fact that the Sefirot are divided up into many groups of varying numbers, that these groupings overlap, that the grouping he refers to is not comprised of a father, son and spirit, but of a male, a female and neutral, and so forth. Others have wrenched kabbalistic symbolism out of context for use in tarot card readings and other forms of divination and magic that were never a part of the original Jewish teachings.

I do not mean to suggest that magic is not a part of Kabbalah. The most hidden, secretive part of Kabbalah, commonly known as "practical Kabbalah," involves use of hidden knowledge (Dark Sentences) to affect the world in ways that could be described as magic. The Talmud and other sources ascribe supernatural activities to many great rabbis. Some rabbis pronounced a name of G-d and ascended into heaven to consult with the G-d and the angels on issues of great public concern. One scholar is said to have created an artificial man by reciting various names of G-d. Much later stories tell of a rabbi who created a man out of clay (a golem) and brought it to life by putting in its mouth a piece of paper with a name of G-d on it. However, this area of Kabbalah is known by very few, and practiced by even fewer.

Orthodoxy is actually made up of several different groups. It includes the modern Orthodox, who have largely integrated into modern society while maintaining observance of halakhah (Jewish Law), the Chasidim, who live separately and dress distinctively (commonly, but erroneously, referred to in the media as the "ultra-Orthodox"), and the Yeshivish Orthodox, who are neither Chasidic nor modern. Judaism maintains that the righteous of all nations have a place in the world to come. This has been the majority rule since the days of the Talmud. Contrary to popular belief, Judaism does not maintain that Jews are better than other people. Although we refer to ourselves as G-d's chosen people, we do not believe that G-d chose the Jews because of any inherent superiority. According to the Talmud (Avodah Zarah 2b), G-d offered the Torah to all the nations of the earth, and the Jews were the only ones who accepted it.(This is how they get around their "Chosen" for Salvation status) The story goes on to say that the Jews were offered the Torah last, and accepted it only because G-d held a mountain over their heads! (In Ex. 19:17, the words generally translated as "at the foot of the mountain" literally mean "underneath the mountain"!) Another traditional story suggests that G-d chose the Jews because they were the lowliest of nations, and their success would be attributed to G-d's might rather than their own ability. Clearly, these are not the ideas of a people who think they are better than other nations.

Four Anti-Defamation League (ADL) activists appeared on a Phoenix
radio talk program Sunday night.  One of the four boasted that "50
million Christian evangelicals" unequivocally stand with the State of
Israel. He claimed the Christian Right, not the American Israeli
Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC), is Israel's greatest strength. 
We agree, and we wonder WWJD? 

The ADL leaders stopped short of demanding the annihilation of Iraq. 
They are able to avoid mongering for war against Israel's most vocal
adversary only because the evangelical Christian Right leaders act as
Israel's proxies in openly demanding the bombing of Israel's
neighbors. The excuse offered is a specious claim that Christians are
bound by scripture to "support higher authority" (Romans 13) which
they transform to justify the proposed annihilation of the Arab
people of not only Iraq but also of Palestine. 

This huge and influential Christian voting block is truly the core of
America's serial war problem.  Many Americans, including a growing
number within the press, are now beginning to see that the bombing of
Iraq would be politically impossible without the hulking image of
these estimated 50 million self- professed Judeo-Christians
supporting death.  Jerry Falwell claimed on national television
recently that the number is over 70 million. 

Sadly, many of these "lambs" are being misrepresented and manipulated
by their self-appointed herdsmen.  Without this huge pressure block,
not only would the bombing of Iraq not happen, the occupation of Gaza
would soon evaporate.  Sadly, was it not for the Christian Right,
America's serial wars would probably diminish into the more peaceful
world Jesus sought.

How can this paradox be solved? That the followers of the PRINCE OF
PEACE are the makers of war?  We ask every Christian to face this
question personally and ask your leaders:

"IS THE MODERN STATE OF ISRAEL THE FULFILLMENT OF BIBLE PROPHESY?"

Leaders Crave Area from Egypt to Iraq

The metamorphosis of tiny Israel from a midget to a giant is in the making. The grand design of Judaic-Zionist expansionist doctrine is to seize all the oil-rich lands from the shores of the Euphrates to the banks of the Nile.

 

In defining the aims of Zionism, Hebrew scholar Levnoch Osman recently said: "In our eternal Book of Books (the Torah), the lofty ethical teachings of which are cherished by all mankind, the land of Israel is described not as a long, narrow strip of land with wavy, crooked borders, but as a state with broad natural borders. God has promised to Patriarch Abraham the following:

 

"I give unto them the land where they have sown their seed, from the river of Egypt unto the great river of Euphrates (Genesis 15:18). And so, in order to realize the words of this prophecy, the Israeli state had to continue, not in the borders it has today but within its broad historical boundaries."

 

And as far back as 1952 Moshe Dean, the present Israeli defense minister, declared:

 

"Our task consists of preparing the Israeli army for the new war approaching in order to achieve our ultimate goal, the creation of an Israeli empire."

 

The British historian Arnold J. Toynbee, who served as an adviser on Near Eastern affairs to the British delegation at the Versailles Conference, in a newspaper article published in June last year stated the Zionist aims in these words:

 

We are Jews, the living representatives of Judah, one of the 12 tribes of Israel that conquered most of Palestine in the 13th century B.C. We held Judah's share of the conquered territory for seven centuries, till we were deported by Nebuchadnezzer in 587 B.C. We were back again within less than half a century, and we then held Judea, once more, for the next 773 years, till we were evicted by the Romans in A.D. 135. We have never renounced our claim to the land of Israel. We have always hoped, believed, and proclaimed that we shall get this land back again. It is our land, we contend.

 

After another 1,883 years we did recover a foothold there in 1918, and during the half-century since then, by devoted hard work, ability and military valor, we have built up our present national State of Israel, and have inflicted three smashing defeats on the Arabs, who have been trying to evict us again.

 

We want to have a country of our own again, like other peoples and like our own ancestors. We also need to have a country of our own, because, since the conversion of the Roman empire to Christianity in the fourth century A.D., we have been penalized and persecuted by the Western Christian majority among whom we have had to live.

 

The persecution has culminated in the unprecedented crime of genocide, which has been committed against us in our lifetime by a Western people, the Germans, in Europe. We are not going to let the Arabs commit the same crime of genocide against us here, in our own land of Israel.

 

Genocide in Six-day War

 

Apologist Toynbee omitted mentioning the fact that the Jews themselves are currently engaged in genocide. During the Sis-Day War last summer, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan ordered Brig. Gen. Yeshaâahu Gavish, the Israeli commander of the Sinai campaign, to ruthlessly drive the hapless Egyptian troops into the Sinai Desert to die of thirst, hunger and heat. Temperature on the arid Sinai rise to more than 100 degrees during the day. For over two weeks thousand of wretched Egyptian stragglers wandered over the swirling wastes finally drop dead in their tracks.

 

U.S. reconnaissance planes flying on the perimeter of the Sinai Desert took hundreds of pictures of the stragglers and reported there were 50,000 Egyptians dead or dying on the desert at the time. The U.S. Air Force loaded 60,000 gallons of water in five-gallon jerry-cans on pallets and prepared to drop them in the area where stragglers were observed. However, Defense Secretary Robert McNamara ordered the projected mission of mercy halted after he received phone calls from White House foreign policy-planner Walt Rostow and UN Ambassador Arthur Goldberg.

 

This flagrant violation of the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war amounted to genocide, designed to destroy a whole nation.

 

Newspaper reporters visiting the war zones in Syria and Jordan, reported that if one sniper in a village fired on Israeli troops, the whole village was destroyed including the women and children. Napalm is frequently used.

 

This systematic extermination is an ideological doctrine of Zionism. The leading exponent of genocide is the chauvinist Moshe Dayan, whom the Zionists have proclaimed a Biblical "messiah" on a white horse. Arrogant, boastful Gen. Yitzhak Rabin, chief of the Israeli General Staff, who plotted and executed the Six-Day blitzkrieg last June, is in direct charge of the projected expansionist program from the Euphrates to the Nile.

 

The scope of this ambitious scheme of territorial seizures and exploitation has been recognized by at least a few of our American military strategists for years. This writer recalls that a dozen years ago an Army lieutenant colonel, who was a student at the War College, confined that some of his instructors believed the Zionist expansionist policy would provide the spark to ignite World War III.

 

(Incidentally, the then lieutenant colonel is now one of the top commanding generals in Vietnam.)

 

By guile, treachery and bloodletting, the Zionists plot to annex all of Jordan, virtually all of Syria, half of Iraq and a large part of Saudi Arabia and all of the rich cotton lands of the Nile Valley. It would be a simpler matter then to grab Yemen, Aden, Muscat, Qatar and Oman with their rich oil development. Israel is already well advanced in the development of its first nuclear warhead.

 

According to the Zionists schedule of operations, within a decade the Israeli empire be the master of the Middle East and take its place as a nuclear superpower on equal footing with the Soviet Union and the United States. David Rockefellers Standard Oil Company will pay its royalties to the Israeli military usurpers instead of the Arab sheiks.

 

Fabulous Oil Reserves

 

The stakes are high in this traditionally British-protected region. The Persian Gulf and adjacent countries hold 70 percent of the non-communist worlds oil reserves and produce half of its oil output. British with-drawl from Aden creates a power vacuum that will inevitably be filled by Israel and the Soviet Union.

 

The British have expressed the pious hope that their withdrawal would galvanize the Arab rulers into dropping their feuds and really unite in a mutual defense pact. However, the spreading oil boom is intensifying the territorial ambitions of rival kingdoms, sultanates and sheikdoms. Iran is selling oil to Israel, another aggravating factor in Mideast tensions.

 

Like the tentacles of an octopus the Israeli armed forces struck out in all directions into Jordan, Syria and Egypt in Israel's Six-Day aggression. Last June. Even when encountering no resistance, the Israeli armored forces abruptly halted at predetermined strategic terrain points; they had accomplished their mission in the first phase of the Zionist Grand Design of imperialistic conquest. It was time to stop and consolidate their gains rather than risk spreading their forces too thin.

 

Israeli leader Menachem Begin says:

 

"The return of even one bit of earth to the Arab would be a betrayal of the nation."

 

The grandiose idea of an Israeli empire controlling the Middle East is now for the first time arousing great popular enthusiasm among Jews everywhere in the world.

 

Officially Israel is continuing the pretense of keeping the door open to negotiations that might result in return of the conquered territory, in exchange for Arab recognition of Israel and peace treaty.

 

Jordan's King Hussein has reportedly already made a secret and desperate offer to Israel: In exchange for the return of the West Bank of the Jordan River, Hussein agreed to demilitarize it, negotiate border adjustments and even waive his insistence upon regaining the Old City of Jerusalem. Israel rejected the offer. Israeli Minister of Labor Yigal Allon bluntly stated:

 

"The natural border of the country is the Jordan River ö a border that would be established only if Israel kept the West Bank areas it took from Jordan."

 

Gen. Aluf Ezer Weizmann, second highest-ranking officer in the Israeli army, is even more adamant: "We shall stay where we are and bring in Jews. We now have the unusual opportunity to consolidate the state for the Jewish people and help prevent future wars."

 

"If there is a fourth war," Defense Minister Moshe Dayan gloats, "we are in a position to win more decisively than ever."

Most of the Arab oil countries are starting oil firms to give them a stronger hold on their petroleum reserves and a bigger bit on profits. They have also recently hiked their royalties they get from the big Anglo-American oil firms.

 

The Soviets furnish the technical know-how to the Arab oil industry and work out world marketing agreement with the Arab rulers. The Soviet naval fleet is standing in the Mediterranean. The Kremlin has launched an aggressive campaign to establish a protectorate over the Mideast oil lands. Russia finally has a firm grip on Egypt. Syria is now totally dependent on Soviet weapons and the protective arm of Moscow. The Soviets have a facility in Latakia.

 

Yemen is receiving Soviet arms, Russian advisers are training its army, and Soviet armed forces are establishing base facilities in Yemen. After all the millions the U.S. gave Iran in foreign aid, the ungrateful shah (who has $300 million stashed away in Swiss banks) is co-operating with the Soviets in construction of a natural gas pipeline that would feed Iranian gas to parts of Russia not easily served by Russian gas.

 

The sub-rosa partnership between Zionism and communism is still a fact. As Israel drives the Arabs into the arms of the Kremlin, Israel expands, fulfilling a grand design and an aggressive plan agreed upon years ago. Question: What is Ribbis?

Reply:

Ribbis means usury. You lend money and get back interest plus the principle. If the borrower promises to repay the loan with interest, this is RIBBIS DIORAYSO, Torah ribbis. If the borrower did not promise to repay the loan with interest, but only promised to pay the principle, any interest paid is only rabbinical ribbis. If someone buys something and promises to pay for it with interest, this is rabbinical ribbis. If the purchase price is turned into a loan, it becomes one regarding ribbis. Thus, if the purchase price is a thousand dollars and the seller wants ten percent interest annually, this could be either Torah or rabbinical usury. If the principal remains a sale debt and is not restructured as a loan, it is a rabbinical ribbis. If the sale price is restructured as a loan, together with interest, it is then a Torah ribbis. Ribbis is forbidden between two Jews.

The Seven Laws of Noah

According to traditional Judaism, G-d gave Noah and his family seven commandments to observe when he saved them from the flood. These commandments, referred to as the Noahic or Noahide commandments, are inferred from Genesis Ch. 9, and are as follows: 1) to establish courts of justice; 2) not to commit blasphemy; 3) not to commit idolatry; 4) not to commit incest and adultery; 5) not to commit bloodshed; 6) not to commit robbery; and 7) not to eat flesh cut from a living animal. These commandments are fairly simple and straightforward, and most of them are recognized by most of the world as sound moral principles. Any non-Jew who follows these laws has a place in the world to come.

The Noahic commandments are binding on all people, because all people are descended from Noah and his family. Thousands of religious schools, charities and organisations could face legal action if they refuse to employ atheists or sack staff who become Satanists under proposed Government regulations.

 

The laws, which are based on a European Union directive and which have to be implemented by December, ban discrimination in the workplace on the grounds of religion, belief or sexual orientation.

 

But a report from the Christian Institute says the laws will restrict the freedom of religious organisations to employ solely staff who are practising believers.

 

Christian groups are particularly angry that the Government has chosen to exempt political parties from the laws, so that the Labour Party will be able to continue its policy of employing only party members.

 

"While the Vegetarian Society can refuse to employ meat-eaters and the RSPCA can sack an executive who is found to have invested in the fur trade, churches which employ Christians could now face legal action for doing so," the institute said."They could face the possibility of crippling legal actions just for following their beliefs."

 

Under the new regulations, all religious organisations, including schools, charities, parishes and mosques, will need to have a very strong case to require recruits to share their beliefs.

 

The laws could, for example, prevent Christian bodies refusing to employ practising homosexuals or bisexuals on the grounds that sex outside marriage is against Christian teaching. Moreover, the regulations protect existing staff, so that if a youth worker employed by a Christian Church converts to Islam, but argues that he can still do the job, the Church cannot dismiss him.

 

Teachers in maintained schools escape the regulations on religion or belief but not sexual orientation. Vergers, youth workers, evangelists, pastoral staff in parishes and caretakers could all be seriously affected, however.

 

In its report the institute said that the proposed regulations undermined religious freedom.

 

One of its authors, Prof Ian Leigh, of Durham University, a human rights lawyer, said: "The Government regulations have all the potential seriously to undermine freedom of association for religious people. They place the modern concept of 'equality' over and above religious liberty."

Saddam's Bodyguard
Reveals Secret Arsenal

Saddam's senior bodyguard has fled from Iraq with details of Saddam's secret arsenal.

His revelations come the day the UN inspectors report to the Security Council whether they have found a smoking gun that will trigger war.

 

Abu Hamdi Mahmoud has provided a list of sites that so far the UN inspectors have not visited. They include:

 

An underground chemical weapons facility at the southern end of the Jadray Peninsula in Baghdad.

 

A Scud assembly area near Ramadi. The missiles come from North Korea.

 

Two underground bunkers in Iraq's Western desert. These contain bio weapons.

 

William Tierney, a former UN weapons inspector who has continued to gather information on Saddam's arsenal, described Mahmoud's information as "the smoking gun. Once the inspectors go to where Mahmoud has pointed them, then it's all over for Saddam".

 

Tierney still has high level contacts in Washington that reach into the White House.

 

He said that the information we publish today on Mahmoud's revelations "checks out, absolutely checks out."

 

Tierney believes it is "inevitable" that we will go to war.

 

Globe-Intel has independently obtained documents smuggled out of Iraq which show he does have weapons of mass destruction that have eluded discovery by UN inspectors.

 

The weapons include motorised underwater mines capable of creeping along the sea bed and then surfacing beneath a battleship or carrier.

 

Each mine is filled with chemicals that upon explosion can envelop the ship in a deadly cloud of poison.

 

The documents show that the mines and other weapons of mass destruction have been secretly developed at sites the UN inspectors have also not visited.

 

These are:

 

Al-Qaqa's State Establishment. Sixty miles south of Baghdad, it has produced what the documents describe as "self-detonating precise guided missiles".

 

Near State Establishment. It is on the western side of the Baghdad-Mosul road. It has produced "artillery rounds and other machined metal parts" for the mines.

 

The mines have been machine-finished at Hateen State Establishment, to the north of Baghdad.

 

In the past weeks, they have been moved to Basra - ready to be launched against the naval armada assembling in the Gulf.

 

One document reveals:

 

"The mines use a special camera to distinguish the target above it. The mines then stop under the target. Once in place they produce chemical materials which generates huge amounts of oxygen that guides the mine to the surface. When the amount of oxygen reaches a specific level, the pressure of the oxygen triggers the detonator which results in a tremendous explosion".

 

The documents reveal that test firings of the mine were carried out on Lake Tharthar on June 5 last year. The tests are described as "completely successful".

 

Mahmoud's revelations have also enabled both George Bush and Tony Blair to take an even stronger stand against anti-war protesters when they meet in Washington this week.

 

Mahmoud was a member of the elitist unit charged with protecting Saddam. It is called the Murasiq Qun - the "Inner Circle". He was known as "The Gatekeeper". Mahmoud is the muscular Saddam lookalike who is always photographed standing either behind Saddam when he is seated - or to his left when on the move.

 

He was trained to spot the slightest threat to Saddam. To deal with it, he had a throwing knife up his right sleeve.

 

"In any threat my first job was to throw myself over Saddam to protect his body and then use my knife", he has told his Mossad debriefers.

 

Now he's at the top of Saddam's kill list. But there is no way Saddam's own assassination unit - the Hamaya Khasa - can get to Mahmoud. He is now protected by a team of Israeli agents.

 

For weeks he was in secret negotiation with a Mossad agent in Baghdad. With the promise he could not be charged with any crimes he committed on behalf of Saddam, and he would be given a new identity - including having his appearance changed by surgery - Mahmoud agreed to desert.

Last week he was being debriefed in a high security base in Israel's Negev Desert. Ariel Sharon, the country's hard-line prime minister has so far only allowed snippets of Mahmoud's sensational claims to be shared with the CIA and MI6.

 

But a source close to Sharon says he wants to use the revelations when, as expected, he returns to power after the country's election (tomorrow, Monday).

 

"Sharon intends to shatter the growing anti-war movement. He plans to call all those European leaders who are wavering to let them know how Saddam has continued to fool Hans Blix and his inspectors," said the source.

 

Mahmoud's revelations include:

 

Locations of five bunkers buried beneath purpose made sand dunes.

 

Stockpiled in the bunkers are warheads identical to the empty shell cases found two weeks ago by the UN inspectors.

 

Mahmoud has claimed those shells were on their way to be refilled and stored in the bunkers.

 

A portion of a transcript from his debriefing includes:

 

"Saddam's weapons of mass destruction are also concealed in a tunnel complex deep beneath the sewers of Baghdad and in an underground complex in Ouja, to the north of Tikrit. The complex was build five years ago with help from Chinese engineers.

 

"The actual entrance to the site is through a house in Tikrit. It is the home of one of Saddam's cousins. The entrance is over half a mile from where the weapons are stored".

 

Mahmoud has also provided the first really detailed insights into how Saddam lives and is protected.

 

Mahmoud says since the Gulf War there have been nine assassination attempts on Saddam. The most recent was in February last year.

 

Mahmoud has described how he was selected.

 

"I was on gate duty at one of Saddam's palaces. One night he arrived in a 10-car convoy. I checked all the vehicles and Saddam stepped out of one car and asked why I inspected them all and not just his. I told him I was not sure in which car he was travelling and that it was in his honour that I checked all the cars. He replied, 'from now on you will be at my side all the time'. He also doubled my salary".

 

Joining the "Inner Circle", Mahmoud found himself in a world far removed from the life of the starving population of Iraq. He received the finest food and had the best weapons. He had access to top level intelligence - so that he could help to plan Saddam's protection.

 

In another excerpt from his debriefing, Mahmoud boasts: "I was inside the innermost circle where Saddam eats and sleeps. I was among the handful of bodyguards closest to him". The bodyguard has given a rare glimpse of what life is like with Saddam.

 

"Very few people are allowed close to Saddam. Many of the TV images you see of him were taken years ago. Most people now only speak to him over the phone. He usually calls them. If they have to call him back with information he wants, it is passed through his sons, Quasy or Tariq Aziz.

 

"All those close to him have codes, which they use to access the outer circle. But even they can only come so close to Saddam before there is a cut-off point - the Inner Circle. Even Tariq Aziz is checked to see if he is carrying weapons. Saddam knows fortunes are being offered to have him assassinated", Mahmoud has revealed.

 

The most protected of all Saddam's palaces is the Qesser al-Quwwa Sitta'shar in Tikrit - close to his birthplace. Mahmoud has described how the palace has four main entrances - and has the latest Chinese-manufactured surveillance equipment.

 

"There are sensors and matchbox sized cameras everywhere. There are doors which can only be opened by placing your face on a key pad.

 

"The palace has a number of escape routes that are outside the palace walls. At each escape point there are cars. A car is always parked at each exit. No one knows what exit Saddam will use. On the way to one he can change his mind and go to another. I have know him change his mind several times over thirty feet.

 

"Saddam's own living quarters in the palace are a labyrinth of doors. To even enter the private sanctum requires having the separate codes to open four doors. On the reverse side of each door is a monitor which shows the Special Guards on duty who is entering".

 

Saddam's paranoia has increased after his son, Uday, narrowly escaped assassination. He is now wheelchair bound.

 

To avoid even his own bodyguards being tempted to kill him, Saddam himself is, according to Mahmoud, a walking arsenal.

 

"He has concealed guns all over his body. He also has panic buttons to press if he even suspects somebody is about to attack him", the former bodyguard has said.

 

Israeli intelligence sources have hinted that part of the deal with Mahmoud was to smuggle out his family from Iraq. Mossad have done this before. At the start of Saddam's reign of terror they persuaded an Iraqi pilot to fly his Russian Mirage to Israel - after Mossad had spirited his wife and children there.

TEHERAN (ANI) -- In a tit-for-tat move, Iran has started taking fingerprints of the US nationals, reports The Nation quoting Radio Teheran.

 

Along with nationals from 20 other countries, the Iranians are to photograph and fingerprint themselves in the USA, besides registering with the immigration authorities.

 

"Iran has also begun to take fingerprints of the US nationals in response to move by Washington," said a Foreign Ministry spokesman while talking to newsmen here on Sunday.

 

He added that now every person who will come from the US to Iran will be fingerprinted and that the decision will be enforced strictly.(ANI)
